To want to see and end to free Tote bags

I was sent one in the post recently, which I didn't ask for and am never going to use, I have more than enough already. Surely they are meant to last for years and we all have enough tote bags now?

Agreed. And I'm sick of all the random crap that gets sent to me by charities wanting to guilt me into contributing to them. How many 2023 calendars does one person need?!

I send them to the charity shop - at least that way they may raise a bit of cash for the charity.

I sort of agree in that I have more free tote bags than I’ll ever use.

But having said said, I haven’t paid for a plastic bag in years. I always have a tote in my car or at the office.

Think of the millions of plastic bags saved each year.

I’ve never had a free one sent in the post either. I had to buy one recently!

Well now I feel left out because no one has ever sent me a free tote bag and now I really want one.

I want a free tote bag! It’s embarrassing squeezing everything into a paper bag that bursts on the way or emptying my bag onto the floor because I don’t have a spare bag!

my Sil gets sent free socks every month. She didn’t ask for it. I’d love free socks. Dobby loves socks.

Send them to the food bank or other charities such as homeless or womens refuge

I’ve never had a free tote bag through the post but people in my family seem obsessed with giving reusable bags but they’re not the grocery type ones … think pink nylon handles with a kitten on or something like that. An awkward size and shape for groceries but not something you’d throw out. My house is full of them now!

They’re really bad for the environment, by some measures worse than plastic bags. Cotton uses an inordinate amount of water to produce and most bags don’t get used nearly enough to justify (if that’s the right word) the environmental impact.

If you really have too many, I would try and donate to a food bank. Something for people to take whatever they are given home in. I know mine struggles for bags.

…and there’s something about the ink they use to print them that’s bad too. I think it means the fabric can’t be recycled.

I think it's an odd thing to feel cross about. I didn't realise it was a problem really as I have never been sent a free one.
