Tell me why you don't want to go to work tomorrow

It's Sunday night. It's gone 11. I should be in bed, getting some serious shut eye for a busy week at work.

But I'm not, because I can't quite bring myself to admit the weekend is over. I've had a great one, pottering in the garden, having a laugh with DS and DH, and getting out and about in the countryside.

My job is ok. It's a worthy pursuit, it helps people, is pretty aligned with my politics and has the potential to be pretty lucrative (by my standards). It's also stressful, quite lonely, and a HUGE responsibility.

We bought a van this weekend and plan to convert it into a camper. We're hoping to have a two week driving / camping holiday around France for my 40th next summer.

I don't want to go to work tomorrow. I just want to walk my dog, work on the van, and make tasty food.

Why don't you want to go to work in the morning?

Because I don't work on Fridays.

Because I am so tired all the time and it's extra exhausting trying to keep my eyes open throughout the day.

Because weeks ago I was successful in getting a sideways promotion to my dream job. Unfortunately my current department have been slow then unsuccessful trying to find a replacement for me and I'm still stuck here. All my excitement is turning into frustration. I don't want to do my old job anymore. I want to do my new one.

Because we are short staffed and I’m basically being the teacher when I’m not a teacher!

I never want to go back to work on a Monday because my job is stressful, I have too much to do, not enough time and I mostly feel overwhelmed and underpaid.

I don’t sleep well which compounds all the issues.

Friday tomorrow and I can’t bloody wait!!

Because I had to go to an all day event in our Manchester office (I usually work in London) and my 7.30pm train was cancelled due to an incident and I'm now on the next severely delayed one and won't be home until midnight. I've been up since 5am and I'm so tired I could cry. No dinner. Also started having hot flushes this week and I'm BOILING. Going to wfh tomorrow but I don't even want to do that.

I enjoy my job on the whole but I’m 7 weeks pregnant and have been dealing with nausea all week, I’m absolutely shattered and I just need a day off

Because however hard I work I can’t keep up, let alone get organised (and I’m an organised person).
Because my work stresses me out and makes me irritable.

I’ve overcommitted myself for this week due to over optimistic time planning (as usual) and so tomorrow is going to be hell to meet deadlines.

Because I don’t really know what I’m doing,. There’s very little effort made to teach/train me, but I’m still held accountable for not achieving what I’m supposed to. High expectations of me, but no investment in me.

Because I’ve got too much else to do. Burnt out widowed parent 🤯

Because my boss is a pita who gaslights me and has behaved poorly towards others in the team. I am actively looking for another post.

I’ve got a new job in the company I’ve been with for years. And I hate it. I was misled as to what the job was, and feel really resentful about it. Because of this I am not really working hard or much at all which in turn is making me feel worse coz I then feel guilty.

I'm six weeks in and don’t feel any more positive.

Because it's cold and we now have a uniform so I can't wrap up in comfy jumpers! Generally love my job but winter is always a slog as I don't do cold!

I feel your pain. I am 6 /7 weeks in to a new job. Had a week off due to covid which was awkward and I am still not sure about it.
I have a probationary period. Been looking at alternatives tonight

Its my husbands birthday 😒 And I'm exhausted. I just want to celebrate him with the energy I have left this week, instead of trying desperately to close the week off, sort out my kid and animals, and THEN try and demonstrate just how loved he is.

Tomorrow is my Monday this week, and I don't want to go because at least once a day I get shouted at or treated with zero decency because of the job I'm in and it makes me feel anxious and worried, it's not so bad if you have a good start and people are cordial or even just have basic manners, you can brush off the bad ones, but it's when you walk through the door, haven't yet got your coat off and have someone at you straight away like I did on Tuesday, before you've even had chance to have any sort of handover and know what's going on, and then when you say you'll find out what's going on and investigate because you've not yet started and don't know right now what is happening you're told you're shit at your job and useless 😒 I hate people sometimes.

Because I've been wanting to take some time to watch a you tube video to learn how to crochet a snowflake. Been promising myself for ages but I'm just too darned tired of an evening. If I had the day off I would make myself a cafetiere of coffee, not instant, and sit and crochet enough snowflakes to cover my Christmas tree.

Because I've booked annual leave !

Because I’m left answering the phone while my coworkers sit there looking at the calls coming through and take two hour lunches.

Because it’s 3:15 and I’ve barely slept due to this horrible stomach virus but I can wfh so I’ve no excuse really

1. I have a 9am meeting which marks the start of my horribly busy period and I haven't read any of the paperwork.

2. I still haven't replied to the man who's been asking me for a breakdown of my job so that he can try to "make efficiencies". I've been putting it off because I'm worried where it might lead.

3. I've decided that I actually really hate my job and would love to retire, but I'm stuck with it for probably at least another 15 years.

I can't sleep but I have to get up at 5.30 to get a 7am train.
It's my last day before a week off so I have a shit ton to do.
I have to deliver the outcome of a disciplinary hearing to one my team which will not go down well.
We have a social event after and I need to try and remain relatively sober in front of my boss even though I really want to drink all the wine.

Because my Grandad died. That may seem silly as I'm so lucky to be in my late 20s and it's my first grandparent to pass away. But my God it fucking hurts. I work in care and can't face the thought of looking after someone else.

Not silly in the slightest, sorry for your loss and I hope if you did have to go in you had a tolerable day.
