Tell me why you don't want to go to work tomorrow

BeatieBourke · 06/11/2022 23:45

It's Sunday night. It's gone 11. I should be in bed, getting some serious shut eye for a busy week at work.

But I'm not, because I can't quite bring myself to admit the weekend is over. I've had a great one, pottering in the garden, having a laugh with DS and DH, and getting out and about in the countryside.

My job is ok. It's a worthy pursuit, it helps people, is pretty aligned with my politics and has the potential to be pretty lucrative (by my standards). It's also stressful, quite lonely, and a HUGE responsibility.

We bought a van this weekend and plan to convert it into a camper. We're hoping to have a two week driving / camping holiday around France for my 40th next summer.

I don't want to go to work tomorrow. I just want to walk my dog, work on the van, and make tasty food.

Why don't you want to go to work in the morning?

I was always wishing I didn't have to go to work. Now my wishes have come true. I don't have to go to work because my OH has terminal cancer and I'm his carer. So the old saying be careful what you wish for is certainly true.

@BeatieBourke @Dontlikeveg thank you for kind words. I was going to start a thread on my own but I can’t face the discussion about it. I’ve had to sit and talk to our DD as if everything is amicable because the truth would destroy her like it is me. STBEH gets to be her dad who just fell out of love.

I would love to write I’m over it but it’s been the weirdest and heartbreaking 48 hours of my life.

Sorry to be so depressive on your thread Beatie ☹️

gggrrrargh · 07/11/2022 00:27

I’m so sorry @Emptyinsidetothecore and @ilovepixie.

mine is because there was a mistake at work recently - multiple people could have caught it and I’m one of them, but I think I’m taking it the worst as I’m usually v diligent. One of those assumptions by a person at the beginning meant we all followed. Have to discuss again tomorrow.

plasticmoses · 07/11/2022 00:28

@ilovepixie FlowersFlowers so sorry to read this

My “d”h left me this weekend and I found out about his affair. Our dd is heartbroken her family as she knows it has just disappeared 😰.

I’ve emailed work, can’t face it.

So sorry! Know how shit that is x

Good news is that you will feel better everyday.

Desiredeffect · 07/11/2022 00:32

Hey, you have absolutely nothing to apologise for!

I'm so sorry that the last 48 hours has broken everything. It sounds ĺike you're being an amazing mother and doing everything you can to protect your dd at am incredibly hard time. That is brave, courageous, and is just one of the many reasons you're a million times the person her dad is. Take heart. Don't let someone else's shitty behaviour dent your sense of self. You are AMAZING. Keep going xxx

I dont want to work tomorrow because I have Multiple Sclerosis (and I'm tried) and I've a meeting with occupational health tomorrow. Think work wants rid of me.

mackthepony · 07/11/2022 00:36

Because I need to do around 12 hours work in about there hours.

Susurrar · 07/11/2022 00:39

Because I’ve been to an amazing gig and still can’t wind down from it. I’m only working a half day tomorrow and wfh but I have to be logged in by midday for a Very Important Call…so I have to travel back home relatively early in the morning. I am fully aware my reason for not sleeping is very trivial.

💐for everyone having a hard time.

sobercuriouskind · 07/11/2022 00:40

I'm still awake because I slept late today (or yesterday) I don't want to go to work tomorrow because every day feels like a slog just now. I never manage to keep on top of emails and I'm so behind with all my paperwork. My mood is low and I'm worried it won't improve without me going back on medication (it has been nearly 5 months off). Life feels really hard right now.

Vegay · 07/11/2022 01:12

Because I think I was supposed to be born to stinkingly rich parents, so I shouldn't need to work. That wasn't my reality, unfortunately 🤣. I'm not into this working malarkey, but my bank balance disagrees.

To be fair, I absolutely love my job, and I would like to retire there. My work is 100% aligned to my values, we are multi-skilled and do different jobs throughout the week, and everyone is paid the same salary. It truly is wonderful.

I don't want to go to work though because the weekend went so fast, and I'm still tired, also, see my first paragraph.

🌷

Also to everyone else struggling.

LegoHeels · 07/11/2022 01:33

A couple of reasons... I'm freelance and worked 14 hour days to complete a job over the last few days and finished at 10pm and want a teeny bit of weekend.

Also I love the night, the quiet, the everything Grin

LegoHeels · 07/11/2022 01:35

Likewise - Flowers to those on this thread is sad and unhappy situations. I'm really sorry that life is so hard right now.

Kabbalah · 07/11/2022 01:35

Because an horse stood on my foot on Sunday morning and it’s effing painful. If I still can’t stand on it then I’m not sure what I’m gonna do as we are so short staffed. That said I may need an X-Ray. Pain killers are making me feel sick. Really not a happy bunny.

Hawkins001 · 07/11/2022 01:36

Because I sprained my foot earlier today and I need to be quick on my feet, and cover around 5-8 miles, plus last time I tried to keep at it, my lovely boss said I should be careful with my feet.

All the best

Wingedharpy · 07/11/2022 01:45

Because I'm retired so don't have a job any more.
I do realise how fortunate I am.

Ashurbanipal · 07/11/2022 01:50

Because I had a knee replacement op on Saturday, so I'll be out of action for a good few Mondays to come. It'll be nice when the pain subsides a little, but I know it'll be so much better than the grinding arthritis I've lived with for years.

WatchoRulo · 17/11/2022 17:40

Because every single employer has half (or fewer) the number of employees they actually need to get the work done and not overload everyone and I'm sick of it always being like this.
Because I am not allowed any time to think anything through properly and neither are any colleagues which means things are at constant crisis point.

Mummieslncorporated · 17/11/2022 17:43

Because I'll need to walk there while most of you may well still be in bed (45 minutes) and the forecast is rain.

plumsandcustard · 17/11/2022 17:44

Because I just found out someone I manage is being paid more than me.

thelobsterquadrille · 17/11/2022 17:44

Because I work outdoors and the weather forecast is horrendous. 9 degrees and absolutely pissing down with rain.

ghostyslovesheets · 17/11/2022 17:45

because I don't work Fridays - got a meeting at 12 though - thankfully on TEAMs so able to do it from home. Nature of the job really!
