It's sadism. Psychopaths that get a thrill out of scaring animals to death.

It’s ridiculous!! Kids out trick or treating and there’s nutcases letting off fireworks.

Igglepiggleslittletoe · 31/10/2022 19:17

A girl I went to school with years ago had been hit in the neck with one one year. Mentally and physically scarred for life. I am sitting here with terrified dogs this evening because of the relentless shit people deem entertainment.

BeagleMumma · 31/10/2022 19:20

I think it's the last day of Diwali today isn't it? That's a possible explanation.

But I do agree, they should be banned

Complete arseholes with no consideration for anyone else. That's this country right now.

Should be licensed firework displays on limited days of the year only (religious festivals, bonfire night). Preferably fireworks that don't sound like the return of the Blitz.

They should be illegal to buy or use for the public at ANY time.

If it's a licensed display, fine. Anyone who sets them off in a residential area is a twat.

But it's been Diwali for a week - why does there have to be fireworks every sodding night of it?

Aren't most displays in residential areas? Sports fields, parks and that. Don't think I've ever been to one on an industrial estate.

DysonSpheres · 31/10/2022 19:26

They've been going off around here for weeks and I literally didn't make the connection, because why would you be releasing fireworks for halloween? So I've been up several nights with the noise. Then to add to it some parents have been around just this very hour ushering children trick or treating and banging my door. I really miss the traditional British approach to Halloween, now it's become like the united states!

Sadly around here knobheads will be letting them off pretty much every night until January 2nd

meatballsoup · 31/10/2022 19:27

Its great isn't it. Halloween, Diwali & Bonfire night. Almost 2 weeks of fireworks. I love it. It's the same every year where I live so it can't come as any big Suprise.

asblindasabat · 31/10/2022 19:28

It’s Halloween! People should expect this. Keep your pets indoors and put the radio or tv on to block out the noise!

LovelyBitOfSquirrel69 · 31/10/2022 19:29

While I'm on a rant I'd like to know what happened to the etiquette of only knocking at houses which are decorated. Fuck off - my gate is locked for a reason so please don't rattle it and set the dog off.

BiscuitLover3678 · 31/10/2022 19:30

I agree that it should be limited to proper displays! I don’t personally mind it but I know it’s terrible for wildlife (and so many people are so dangerous with them).

hattie43 · 31/10/2022 19:31

Hopefully as time goes on laser light shows will take over . Time to ban fireworks .

Perhaps but if it's a licensed display then so be it. Not just idiots buying them at Asda or the local shop or whatever and setting them off for kicks.

DysonSpheres · 31/10/2022 19:32

I kid you not. As I finished typing some idiot has let off a volley. They're not even decent fireworks with a pretty display. Just some cheapo bargain type that are all noise and no display! 🤬

So what is the point? Tell me?

I8toys · 31/10/2022 19:32

Seen one display seen them all. Don't get the repeat business tbh. Its not as if you're seeing anything new with every school/cricket club etc etc display. Antisocial boring bollocks. Laser displays would be more appreciated at least you could add music and it wouldn't terrify or annoy like the blitz.

What's fireworks got to do with Halloween? Bonfire Night is fireworks.
