Firework displays all by ours. Sadistic twats terrifying animals. It's not Bonfire Night you stupid pricks.

I’m with you OP - couple with the dreadful
noise and animal torture, there is also a significant amount of air pollution from them!

Replace with light displays, like the drone ones, which can be amazing. No-one needs live explosives to have a good time!

RampantIvy · 31/10/2022 23:10

No fireworks here.

Igglepiggleslittletoe · 31/10/2022 23:11

Same.

Other end if island and same but it was INSANE this evening. Firework overload. My friend has autistic kids and they built a fort under the table with pillows over their heads. Fucking dreadful things.

LikeTearsInRain · 31/10/2022 23:11

It’s almost like it’s those nasty people have secretly agreed a week or sk where fireworks are more widely available and people buy them and use them?

I wonder if there is some kind of pattern… like it’s the same time every year?

MrsClatterbuck · 31/10/2022 23:13

I grew up in the sixties and we always had fireworks at Halloween. I live in Ireland and we were doing Halloween long before it was fashionable. We dunked for apples and cracked nuts open. We also dressed up but nothing like the type of Halloween costumes you see nowadays. No ghosts witches or vampires.

I’m in Ireland and while Hallowe’en is traditionally the night for fireworks here I’m fucking sick to death of them and I think they really need to tighten up on regulations re sales and when/where they can be set off. Three days ago my parents 83 year old neighbour got such a fright when one was set off she tried to run but fell and badly fractured her hip. It was 4 o’clock in the afternoon and she was just walking along a residential street pulling her bloody shopping trolley!

I’m not a nervous, delicate creature but this year in particular most seem to be designed to make the loudest noise possible. It’s no exaggeration to say they’re like bombs going off. It’s horrible and it’s been every night and early evening for the last two weeks or more. At 5 am yesterday morning we had a volley of them too so it’s really not as simple as wear earplugs/turn up the tv/keep dogs in. At this stage I’d be happy to see the damn things banned.

The sale of fireworks is banned in Ireland unless for an organised licensed event but they've always been available in Northern Ireland so there's always some who will invest in lots and sell them to the idiots who think of no one but themselves. I'm fortunate to live far enough in the countryside that we don't hear any but its upsetting every year to see so many dogs missing after Halloween, all scared by fireworks.

YANBU

Where’s all the money coming from, gives me the rage. I work for local government and the complaints around cost of living payments is through the roof - people forget it’s meant to be for bills, not to blow on fireworks and plastic tat.

Vallmo47 · 01/11/2022 03:31

It’s so fucking annoying and inconsiderate.

But it's been Diwali for a week - why does there have to be fireworks every sodding night of it?

This

MavisChunch29 · 01/11/2022 05:04

Not heard any here at all.

Flylittlebirdy · 01/11/2022 05:07

reports of fireworks being thrown into Stratford tube station crowds now

Teeshirt · 01/11/2022 05:11

I’ve not heard any fireworks at all.

lobsterkiller · 01/11/2022 05:45

It's the massive bomb sounding ones that are awful and doubt its anything to do with Diwali. It's more to do with mindless idiots, I sat with my lovebirds last night, one was scared witless. I have lights and TV on but these huge bangs make me jolt so what do people think it does to animals.

OoooohMatron · 01/11/2022 16:33

I've heard and seen a few over the last few weeks. Personally I love fireworks and my cats don't give a shit.

luxxlisbon · 01/11/2022 16:44

It's not Bonfire Night you stupid pricks.

Fireworks displays have happened every year since I was a young child, going back well over 3O years.

Why is a acceptable on bonfire night but not Halloween?

madnesss · 01/11/2022 16:46

None of the shops in Dundee are selling them now after riots broke out in a housing scheme last night. Fireworks being aimed at the police - I just can't even work out the mentality.

madnesss · 01/11/2022 16:47

Posted too soon

I hope this is the start of a nationwide ban tbh, in time I hope the police and politicians work together on this.

AlwaysLatte · 01/11/2022 16:47

I love home fireworks but we stick to 5th November and then people know it will be happening. But I think they should be very quiet - a ban put on selling loud ones to the public.

NairobiGal · 01/11/2022 16:49

Police were called in my street last night because a window was smashed by a firework. Never known anything like it.

DayOfTheTentacle · 01/11/2022 17:19

I have PTSD (nothing to do with war) and if I'm not expecting the bangs it's really stressful and can set me right off.

This will be the first year for many without a scared dog in the house though.

There were fireworks aimed at trams in Manchester last week. Could have done some serious damage.

balalake · 01/11/2022 17:20

There should be a law restricting them to designated days only, with a named person responsible for each fireworks display. Designated days (say five a year) allow for celebrations and would give warning to allow anyone to remain indoors and protect vulnerable people and animals.

Sorry for the DM link, but saw this and thought people should hear about these incidents. It's time fireworks were banned 😒

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 01/11/2022 19:31

I haven't heard any fireworks this year. I'm in Surrey
