Its great isn't it. Halloween, Diwali & Bonfire night. Almost 2 weeks of fireworks. I love it. It's the same every year where I live so it can't come as any big Suprise.

Good job you don't or know anyone who suffers from them going off for 2 weeks. Let alone the animals that suffer too.

As long as you enjoy it though

novacancy3 · 31/10/2022 19:36

It's torrential rain here and still the fireworks are going off. My poor dog. It's not fair when it's night after night like this.

What's fireworks got to do with Halloween? Bonfire Night is fireworks

Precisely.

And at least Guy Fawkes is a Saturday this year which means it won't be as dragged out as when it's mid-week

I'd like to see only the less loud, lower range fireworks on sale to the public; big bangs at organised displays only.

And I wish that there weren't tossers who leave firework debris all over the park. It's still litter, you filthy beasts!

Or you know, Diwali.

Diwali was the 22nd -26th so no, it's not that

They've been going off around here for weeks and I literally didn't make the connection, because why would you be releasing fireworks for halloween? So I've been up several nights with the noise. Then to add to it some parents have been around just this very hour ushering children trick or treating and banging my door. I really miss the traditional British approach to Halloween, now it's become like the united states!

Good grief. It is not like that in the US. There are rules there too. Light not on, no one stops by, that’s it. Simple.

asblindasabat · 31/10/2022 19:49

I am in Northern Ireland and Halloween is fireworks night.

deliverooyoutoo · 31/10/2022 19:50

Stupid pricks celebrating bonfire night and not Samhain. Wankers all.

🙄

Halloween has always been a thing in the Celtic Nations of the uk.

I think you mean English.

ofwarren · 31/10/2022 20:14

Try living near Blackpool who have the world's firework championship competition every weekend every October 🤣
We live 6 miles away and it's sooo loud!

I just stood out my back door and said exactly your last sentence, word for word.
One of my dogs is fine, the other is having a nervous breakdown for the 10th time in the last week.

AbsolutelyNebulous · 31/10/2022 20:48

I’m in Ireland and while Hallowe’en is traditionally the night for fireworks here I’m fucking sick to death of them and I think they really need to tighten up on regulations re sales and when/where they can be set off. Three days ago my parents 83 year old neighbour got such a fright when one was set off she tried to run but fell and badly fractured her hip. It was 4 o’clock in the afternoon and she was just walking along a residential street pulling her bloody shopping trolley!

I’m not a nervous, delicate creature but this year in particular most seem to be designed to make the loudest noise possible. It’s no exaggeration to say they’re like bombs going off. It’s horrible and it’s been every night and early evening for the last two weeks or more. At 5 am yesterday morning we had a volley of them too so it’s really not as simple as wear earplugs/turn up the tv/keep dogs in. At this stage I’d be happy to see the damn things banned.

LovelyBitOfSquirrel69 · 31/10/2022 19:12

Amend that to what's this fireworks every fucking night for the last two weeks nonsense?

... or four weeks here...

lizzardinablizzard · 31/10/2022 20:56

I can hear some right now.
The neighbouring house they are coming from are definitely not celebrating Diwali.

I was hoping with cost of living etc ppl will not be spending their cash on unpleasant noise.

Livetoplay · 31/10/2022 20:57

Where I’m from we don’t celebrate bonfire night and there are ALWAYS fireworks at Halloween. U.K., just not England.

hattie43 · 31/10/2022 19:31

Hopefully as time goes on laser light shows will take over . Time to ban fireworks .

They're not the same. I love he smell, sight and noise of fireworks.

Sausagenbacon · 31/10/2022 21:07

I love fireworks, but not the noise. And I thought we were also supposed to be struggling with our finances these days? These things aren't cheap.

TaranTulasForSamhain · 31/10/2022 21:13

Halloween or Samhain is traditionally the time to have bonfires (bone-fires) and loud noises eg fireworks. Totally traditional in countries that celebrate Halloween in it most traditional fashion.

What's fireworks got to do with Halloween? Bonfire Night is fireworks.

I grew up in Ireland and fireworks were set off every Halloween night and in the week or so before. I thought this was normal. Any other 80s/90s Irish kids in the house remember this? It was incessant. I'm 40 now and remember this since I was in Primary school.

Bpickle1 · 31/10/2022 22:38

There are events outside of Bonfire Night that warrant fireworks. For example Diwali? You sound a bit ignorant

GuyMontag · 31/10/2022 22:41

I love it 🎆 🎇🎆 🎃🎃

Bit of cheer in the dreary winter.
