Talking about intimacy/sex at all on the 1st date. Talking about it in inappropriate times/in front of other people. Like the boyfriend who once told my dad he was a 'cunning linguist' 😳🤮

When they try too hard to make your family like them. Just be yourself!

Misogynistic views.

Has loads of guy friends who go out together all the time. (just the lad culture I guess)

Doesn't do his fair share of chores without being asked.

Treats me like his mum.

Baby voice 🤮

Ignores kids, especially his own! Doesn't try with kids at all.

I guess I like a hands on, rugged, outdoorsy guy who is happy in his own company and generally good sense of humour.

Men ( actually anyone ) who says vis and vat instead of this and that.

Not claiming all of these were fair or rational, nor are they all the same guy.. but:

• Couldn’t parallel park, reverse or merge into a lane without getting flustered
• Inability to do basic DIY
• Long fingernails in general, but especially the guy who kept one pinky long as “a really useful tool” 🤢
• Had small hands so I felt like I was helping a toddler cross a road
• Ordered a burger with no salad or sauce
• Had 3 sugars in tea
• Called biscuits “biccies”
• Wore novelty socks, as bad in my books as no socks
• Had every “Now That’s What I Call..” pop CD ever released in a folder in his car. No other CDs.
• Had cats and spoke to them in a baby voice
• Wore one of those ridiculous “money safe” tubes around his neck and underneath his T-shirt on first (& last) holiday
• Had no children, but fridge/freezer full of mini milk ice lols, frubes, cheese strings, dairylea lunchables etc
• Couldn’t swim

Some of these are fair enough, not an irrational ick. Using a baby voice to suggest sex? Ugh.

Am feeling a bit sorry for the guys re body hair though. So far we’ve had completely smooth, hairy chest and curly body hair. Isn’t body hair generally curly?

I once got the ick because a man pronounced the “l” in folks.

I had an ex who had that and that's the reason why I broke up with him. I couldn't find a polite way of bringing it up and it grossed me out. I posted on a forum asking how I tell him and most people said that I couldn't. Some people wouldn't care and would tell him outright that it was gross.

I think the small hands/feet thing is pretty offensive. How can they help how they're built?

However, I get the ick at:
Moustaches, watching porn, going to strip clubs, misogyny, racism, right wing views and too much swearing (especially sexual terms, usually misogynistic)

You're not obliged to be attracted to anything. Of course people can't help what size their hands are, but if it doesn't spin your wheels, what can you do?

Soft hands, long nails, mouth gunk (custard corners), ironed jeans worn with shoes, waistcoats, being a drip, men who think it’s funny to make you jump or who think pranks are the height of hilarity, anyone who uses a baby voice, or who says ickle, holibobs or calls me Hun. Conspiracy theorists and men who have been on YouTube who tell others that they’ve ‘done their research’.

I find skinny/slim men very unattractive, as well as men who take a lot of care over their appearance or who have anything feminine about them, but that doesn’t necessarily give me the ick as I’d quite happily be friends with them, I just wouldn’t be attracted to them.

The thing with the ick is that it isn’t always a rational thing. A lot of the things on here would describe my ex but I was with him for years and looked past them, as I loved him. However, I would be turned off by someone’s grammar before their lack of DIY prowess or choice of jeans.

I’ve dated a guy lately who also ticks a lot of ick boxes on paper - totally hairless (not my type at all!) small hands (but decent sized dick!), fussy eater etc

I avoided meeting up with him for several years (knew him online) as I just didn’t think I’d fancy him, but it turns out I do. I’ve no doubt I’ll get the ick at some point but I don’t think it will be for any of the obvious things.

One guy used the phrase “for my sins” in a text and then went to London to lay flowers for the Queen. They both gave me the ick 😂

How is that a double standard? It could only be such if men were all respectful of - and attracted to - fat, hairy, unemployed women. Which on the whole they’re not.

How is it double standards? You’re holding women to a far higher standard than men. Human beings judge each other all the time, subconsciously or otherwise. It’s simply asking what posters find unattractive. It would only be double standards if you found those posters who have judged people on their weight etc had previously rallied against people doing the same to them.
