A Deliveroo driver dropped off a McDonalds takeaway on my front doorstep and vanished before I knew a thing about it. It's not mine. I've knocked next door in case it was theirs and rang both phone numbers on the receipt without answer. Someone else paid for it and I feel conflicted about digging in. AIBU?

Would be stone cold and hard by the time you've receieved enough comments and deliberated on it, surely?

I have had this happen, when it doesn't turn up with whoever ordered it they will complain and either get it redelivered or get a refund.

Im assuming they’d be able to raise it with Deliveroo and get a re-fund or a replacement order sent out ASAP.

They won’t be able to get a replacement sent out. That’s not how it works.

They will be able to get a refund though.

I had a Starbucks delivered the other week, wasn't mine I'd ordered a greggs! I did eat it in the end.

We've also had the wrong mcdonalds order turn up and been refunded. There was 6 cheese burgers , 2 mayo burgers and a big mac

Yeah, do this - just wrap the burgers in foil and leave the fries loose and it’ll be loads better than from the microwave.

You shouldn’t have. The restaurants don’t pay the drivers, they are not their employees, so they are getting drivers to run your order for free by doing so.

That’s why it’s policy that replacement orders aren’t sent out.

Wouldn't eat McDonalds anyway so maybe I'm not looking at this the way others might but just can't imagine eating something that appears on my doorstep.

It generally happens when you have young inexperienced managers that struggle explaining why the order cannot be sent out again.
