A Deliveroo driver dropped off a McDonalds takeaway on my front doorstep and vanished before I knew a thing about it. It's not mine. I've knocked next door in case it was theirs and rang both phone numbers on the receipt without answer. Someone else paid for it and I feel conflicted about digging in. AIBU?
AIBU?
To think I shouldn't eat the randomly delivered McDonalds

Am I being unreasonable?

Obviously you call deliveroo to tell them. It’s happened to me before where they included extra stuff in my order and i told them and they let me keep it

Would you really eat something that's just been left on your doorstep?
Wouldn't eat McDonalds anyway so maybe I'm not looking at this the way others might but just can't imagine eating something that appears on my doorstep.

The op says she's tried the numbers on the receipt. No answer.

Yes. The receipt number would be for the recipient or the restaurant.
i would do everything I could to let deliveroo and the restaurant know about this. What if the other person is charged and doesn’t receive the food? It’s stealing

Choc shake, quarter pounder, triple cheeseburger, fries. Orderer dislikes pickles.
GloriousGlory · 06/10/2022 20:24
Oh give over! Do everything you could?
If OP didn't eat it, would it still be stealing? Would they come back four hours later for it and say you "stole" it because you ate it, or if she hadn't eaten it, it would be ok?
If she left it on the doorstep, is she still obliged to do anything she could to reunite it with the intended recipient?

Am pretty sure Deliveroo is only online and app. I also went to their website to look for advice but nothing in FAQs and no phone number.
YellowTreeHouse · 06/10/2022 20:23
@RIPQueen When it doesn’t turn up they will complain and get their money back. OP doesn’t need to make contact with anyone.
RIPQueen · 06/10/2022 20:25
Ok - different standards here. I wouldn’t feel
comfortable eating it until I had spoken to someone 🤷🏻♀️
