To think I shouldn't eat the randomly delivered McDonalds

A Deliveroo driver dropped off a McDonalds takeaway on my front doorstep and vanished before I knew a thing about it. It's not mine. I've knocked next door in case it was theirs and rang both phone numbers on the receipt without answer. Someone else paid for it and I feel conflicted about digging in. AIBU?

They'll definitely get a refund or replacement. I've had a few.

cooolio · 06/10/2022 20:30

I was just about to kick off about the "all that meat" typical MN comment then scrolled back and saw if missed the triple cheeseburger 🤣

TheWolves · 06/10/2022 20:30

Including my cat piss burger

HikingforScenery · 06/10/2022 20:32

It’d be going straight in the bin, if I didn’t find the owners, not because it’s McDonald’s.

MissingNashville · 06/10/2022 20:36

How can anyone need the advice of strangers on something like this? 😬 Just make a decision, eat it, don’t eat it, it’s really not going to matter.

BogRollBOGOF · 06/10/2022 20:43

I once got the wrong drive thru order and didn't realise until I'd got home. I had a good go at eating it, but the person that got a wrap meal instead of the cheese burgers and big tasty must have been disappointed. I did learn to check it though.

The reality is that no one's going to want the mis-delivered order back or collect it. It's a choice of ear it or bin it. If it's food you'd eat, eating it is the more ethical response to the situation. The person whose order went awry will be the one reporting it for a refund whatever OP does.

Choc shake, quarter pounder, triple cheeseburger, fries. Orderer dislikes pickles.

Yes I'd of ate that strait away 😂

Noteverybodylives · 06/10/2022 20:49

That’s weird because ours was supposedly delivered around half hour ago but never arrived.

😂😂😂

I really want a MacDonalds now.

Yes. The receipt number would be for the recipient or the restaurant.

i would do everything I could to let deliveroo and the restaurant know about this. What if the other person is charged and doesn’t receive the food? It’s stealing

The purchaser will report it as not delivered and Deliveroo will track the driver and see the mistake and refund them. Only McDonalds are losing out and I'm sure they can afford it. That's better than letting food go to waste.

BasiliskStare · 06/10/2022 21:54

I think I read somewhere ( or is it an urban myth ) , that if people are in an area not near their house they will order a takeaway to be left outside a random st number. In which case a PP said - either you claim it as yours or bin it. Where I live I wouldn't leave it there as under cover of darkness Monsieur Reynard will come and claim it as his own & then there is a great deal more tidying up to do. 🐺 ( nearest I could get to a fox. )

TwoMonthsOff · 06/10/2022 21:55

Not after that Unidentified object in burger photograph posted yesterday 🤢

CourtneeLuv · 06/10/2022 22:34

I wouldn't eat it. What if its laced with rohypnol and the deliverer is waiting to break in.

Or some other poison? People put glass in food, how would you know it wasn't left by a nutter?

Peak MN right there that. 😂😂

There’s a cost of living crisis you know, they’d have just left a 99p cheeseburger laced with glass.

Asparagoose · 06/10/2022 23:03

Do people really eat random food that’s just been left on their doorstep? You’re braver than me!

Cheeselog · 06/10/2022 23:04

McDonalds isn’t on Deliveroo is it? It would be Just Eat or Uber Eats

Changechangychange · 06/10/2022 23:08

I thought they wanted an order code off you now? Shouldn’t have given it to you without that (presumably because this sort of thing happens all the time and it costs them money)

It depends on your area. My local McDonalds is on UberEats but my friend 5/6 miles away has McDonalds on Deliveroo.

Yuck. I wouldn't even give it the dog.
I'd be pissed off about having to dispose of it though. 😤

How can that even be a thing? Open bin, drop in, done. I mean you could empty the food and split it down for recycling but to be pissed off about it? Confused

QuestionableMouse · 07/10/2022 02:02

YellowTreeHouse · 06/10/2022 19:56

They won’t be able to get a replacement sent out. That’s not how it works.

They will be able to get a refund though.

I work for McDonald's and we absolutely have sent out replacement food for misdelivered orders!
