Arraignment taking place now. Rachel leading panel show on MSNBC.

“He was on Donald’s lap the entire time.” The canaries are all singing. Michael Cohen believes Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and Jared Kushner have all flipped on Trump. (Video: CNN)

Blimey he's rambling. Graffiti is the problem.
He's such a dick

Sounds like he's doing his equivalent of a thwarted toddler-rant; "I HATE you. This house is yucky! I HATE it! You smell like poo poo!!!!".

DuncinToffee · 04/08/2023 08:49

Being addresses as Mr Trump rather than President Trump must have stung Grin

Good!

I do like the fact that he could get bail mostly because he has a constant security guard and is therefore not felt to be a flight risk: the DoJ know exactly where he is every second of every day. This is something I don't suppose he gave much thought as potentially a drawback before now.

TheSilveryPussycat · 04/08/2023 13:35

The BBC broadcast what Trump said in the Midnight News last night. But oddly, they edited out the poo-poo rant, from the middle of what he said. You couldn't even hear the join.

Bad practice, BBC Hmm

I haven't heard it from the horse's arse. Oops, I guess that should be mouth. Nah on second hand I had it right the first time.

Just heard and read a few bits and pieces (DC is broken and filthy. Witch hunt. Election interference.) from the news because I can't stand the 'tone' of his voice when he says his shit. Like fingers on a blackboard.

I'm looking for a 'full transcript'.

TheSilveryPussycat · 04/08/2023 17:54

His whole statement very very short, *Across". And fairly painless to watch. Worth it, though!

Sachertorterules · 04/08/2023 18:12

I'm with @AcrossthePond55 here, I can't bear to listen to his whiny, self-satisfied, scornful, inarticulate voice, let alone look at his face, so I turn off whenever there is the slightest chance of my hearing him speak. One word I caught before I managed to switch off was "Persecution". I left him lying to himself and the gullible.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 04/08/2023 18:21

That last was not from an Austrian cake, but from a Leonard Cohen Partisan. I have no idea why that happened!

BruceAndNosh · 04/08/2023 18:58

Unlike many Republicans, I am actually reading the entire 45 page indictment.
I'm taking a break at page 21
I do find it hard that all the Dramatis Personae are referred to by their job description rather than by name.
The CNN annotated version is helpful by providing names.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/08/2023 19:04

It's double-spaced, right? So not quite so terrible. (This is not really helpful but I am trying to fand any rays of light available.)

Yeah, but it's not a gripping page turner of an Airport holiday novel. I mean I'm half way through and there's no sex whatsoever

TheSilveryPussycat · 04/08/2023 20:06

This is a very sad day for America and it was also very sad driving through Washington DC and seeing the filth and the decay, and all of the broken buildings and walls and the graffitti. This is not the place that I left. It's a very sad thing to see it.

(continues with the usual stuff)

That sounds far too coherent for the Fart!

TheSilveryPussycat · 04/08/2023 20:37

Note the wide range of emotions in what I quoted.
The whole thing is only a few seconds over 1 minute long.

From the Sky link I posted:

Addressing the email to "friends", he says he's writing on his way back from "the belly of the beast", where he was arraigned "as an innocent man".
The email continues: "Our country is in a very dark place right now, but I know that we will weather this storm and America will emerge stronger and greater than ever before.
"As I face the threat of 561 years in prison for a crime I did not commit, you may be wondering how I could be so confident right now.
"The answer is YOU," he writes.
It's not quite clear how Trump calculated that figure of 561 years in prison - but it goes without saying that anything close to that would only happen if the sentence for every single charge he faces in his three indictments is the maximum possible time in prison.

TheSilveryPussycat · 04/08/2023 20:39

*I mean his entire statement was not much more than a minute

AcrossthePond55 · 04/08/2023 21:33

Thanks for the transcriptions @TheSilveryPussycat

A combination of sour grapes with the 'DC ain't what it was in MY day' and his usual mendacious rhetoric to wind up the Cult and get them to donate money.

I only wish it he'd get 561 years! I found this....max total for ALL indictments (election tampering ,Mar A Lago documents, Stormy Daniels bribe, could be theoretically 641 years. And we still haven't heard from Georgia.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/08/03/how-much-prison-time-might-donald-trump-actually-face/

Some pundit was saying that she'd be happy if he 'cut a deal' for no jail time in exchange for a legal agreement to NEVER run for office again. At this point, he's such a danger to our Country that I'd be inclined to accept if he offered that as a 'deal'. As long as a condition was that if he violated the deal, his ass was grass and he'd head right to prison.

TheSilveryPussycat · 04/08/2023 21:51

I find US sentencing odd, it seems to imply that Americans live forever, or to ~800 years old at least.

Much as I love the computer generated images of Trump in an orange jump suit, the logistics of protecting his ass in a standard prison would be horrendous, and possibly require building a bespoke facility.
So I'd settle for house arrest. In a 3 bedroom farm house in louisiana backwoods. With no Internet.
