I think even Republican women may just have begun to notice that as well as being anti-birth-control, Trump is clearly pro-rape going by his words and his actions. This won't worry his brainwashed base, but genuinely independent voters (I think they are about 25% of the total who vote) might be less totally able to ignore it. I am also hoping that those Republicans who can no longer stomach Trump and his bully-boys may not be able to bring themselves to vote Democrat, but they may well simply stop 'ome and not vote at all. Or leave the space for "President" empty.

I agree. I think what we must hope for is that the GOP vote at the primary level goes to a more moderate candidate and Doofus doesn't even get the nom. Or, if he gets the nom, the actual election vote is split by a more moderate GOP candidate who runs as a 'write in' or who runs 3rd party or Independent, a la Ralph Nader & Bernie Sanders who split the Dem vote in prior elections and cost us the White House. Or as you say, hope that moderate GOP voters stay home in droves.

Giving away my age here, but I'm old enough to remember the Smothers Brothers Show and the comedian Pat Paulson 'running' for POTUS under the 'Straight Talking American Govt Party'. That name should appeal to Doofus, the STAG Party, right? And his campaign would be just as ridiculous as Paulson's.

Did he really expect her not to add that nationwide slander to the case against him?

She's asking the judge to reopen her case so she can request an award of further damages based on the bullshit he spouted after the decision.

He ranted later that it's a 'violation of his 1st Amendment rights' to make him appear in court since it means he can't hold any rallies and that the judge 'hates him'. Oh, and it's all a Dem plot of course.

You know, that never occurred to me! I'm so used to an elected POTUS who is truly 'out' if not reelected that I really didn't think about the fact that your PM is actually an MP who has been appointed to 'the top job' whilst still having their 'regular job' that they'll eventually go back to.

I'm trying to think what it would be like if Doofus was still the 'Senator/Representative from XX State'. Holy shit! Our system has it's fault, but at least when our 'leader' is out, he/she is really OUT!

Oh yes! God knows what his constituents think of him... he's either on the after dinner speech circuit, or schmoozing Trump and talking about Ukraine (not his place to do this), cosying up to Texan Republicans, and having a grand old time in Vegas.

He hasn't voted in Parliament since March which is disgusting because that's what he's there to do, represent the people who voted for him in Uxbridge.

I hope to god @AcrossthePond55 he gets voted out in the next GE. He doesn't deserve to be an MP. His margin is thin and there was talk about moving him to a safe seat... and it was mooted at one point it could be where I live! That rumour's gone a bit quiet, thank the lord

So who decides who is running for Parliament? Do the parties just select the candidates, IIRC the UK doesn't have primaries.

Just trying to figure out how Boris the Buffoon got on the ballot. Our 'problem' was the primary system. If the GOP 'powers' had selected the 2016 candidate off their own backs, Doofus would never have gotten near the ballot.

Certainly no primaries. He can be parachuted in anywhere and if enough vote for Johnson, he's there!

The local conservative party choose and if they're happy with a selectionl that's it! Anyone can stand for election as long as they pay the deposit.

Thanks for the info re election of MPs. I don't know which is better worse, our system or yours. With the primary system, at least we get to select the candidates, but there's no guarantee there aren't enough morons in a party to get someone like Doofus on the ballot. With your system, anyone can run but the party selects the final candidates. The party may not have as many morons, but it certainly has a lot of self serving reasons to select certain candidates.

Personally I think we should just throw them all in a big pit and let them mud-wrestle for the nomination. At least that would be amusing.
