Just got back at 6 this morning from a week in turkey. Im knackered we’ve just had a takeaway OH is going mad at me as we need to crack on.
but my gosh it’s too much for me to Face I would rather ease into it all. First wash on maybe have a nap and come back to it later but no it’s all GO GO GO with him.

Let him get on with it, why does it have to be both of you?

Wanttorunawayforever · 21/09/2022 13:58

I would love to know why too! After all he napped all the way on the plane whilst I had all 3 kids

Has he got two hands? Or let me guess he's the "I'll wash you dry" type 🙄

MermaidEyes · 21/09/2022 14:00

If I can be bothered I'll put a first wash on, if not I'll leave it to the next day. I always clean before we go away simply so I can have a few days off when I'm back. Does your husband know where the washing machine is?

SallyWD · 21/09/2022 14:01

We travel a lot and if we're exhausted we'll leave the unpacking for a day and just do things slowly.

Carrotzen · 21/09/2022 14:02

Not if we've got back at 6am! Holiday washing etc starts the next day, there's no point having a holiday to then restress yourself

Carrotzen · 21/09/2022 14:02

Also it doesn't take 2 people to put a wash on. He can start if he wants

Wanttorunawayforever · 21/09/2022 14:04

Thanks you’ve all made me feel better I’m going back to bed with the baby 🤣

I’d be telling him point blank, whilst you slept I had 3 dc

so now I’m sleeping and you can crack on

traintraveller · 21/09/2022 14:16

I like to get on with the washing, straight from the suitcase to the machine and started before anything else. Especially if its a day for drying outside. It takes 2 minutes. But I don't really have holiday clothes as such that I can ignore for weeks. I don't clean though, if I've not been home for a week or two it shouldn't need cleaning.

JudgeRindersMinder · 21/09/2022 14:17

It’s taken me 25 years to be able to not get pissed off at my dh insisting on unpacking his case all over the kitchen floor the second he gets through the door!

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 21/09/2022 14:19

Mine stays in the suitcase for about a week. DP unpacks his own.

HideousKinky · 21/09/2022 14:33

I'm always keen to get that first load of washing on!

PoivronCochon · 21/09/2022 14:38

Washing on the moment we walk through the door! If I was home at 6am then I'd want everything washed, dried and away by that night.

Thursa · 21/09/2022 14:38

Home, washing on, open windows, cup of tea.

BamBamBilla · 21/09/2022 14:39

What is there to clean? everyone does the mad dash of cleaning before the holiday don't they?

FourTeaFallOut · 21/09/2022 14:39

Open door. Put kettle on. Put wash on while it boils. Sorry, op.

ScampiFlies · 21/09/2022 14:42

Oh god, my dh "needs" the kitchen to be free of bags quite soon after we get back. He does it though. And it only extends to the bags being moved, the washing waits.

This is exactly the same as me. Nothing worse than getting up the next day and having it all to sort still in my opinion

AbleCable · 21/09/2022 14:43

I tend to put on laundry as soon as I can - so I can hang it up and then ignore it for days. The rest of the suitcase generally stays open and half empty for a few days while I sort myself out.
But no reason for his unpacking and laundry to impact you - tell him to crack on with his and the kids, and you'll sort out yours when you get round to it.

I'm with your DH. We got back late yesterday evening - unpacked and both loads of washing done by lunchtime today. Much as I love a holiday, there's nothing worse than having 'stuff' hanging around for days.

abovedecknotbelow · 21/09/2022 14:45

I hope you're having a nice sleep op! When I've just come back from holiday I need to ease in gently. DH is the opposite and a pain in the arse over it, I've learnt over the years to just let him crack on.

ferneytorro · 21/09/2022 15:25

Yes , luckily (or unluckily) husband and I are both the same. If , after we’ve been home for half an hour , we aren’t totally unpacked with a wash on then that would be a big fail!

exception to that is a very long haul flight as we may have a nap but that would be immediately we got home. Straight in and straight to bed.

gogohmm · 21/09/2022 15:30

I do - first wash load on before even finishing unloading usually, then put away everything not needing washing, pop to supermarket then washing on line, next load on, eat then collapse. Dp vacuumed whilst I went to the supermarket

Evivie · 21/09/2022 15:32

I'm with your DH on this one! Whatever time we get home, all suitcases unpacked and everything put away, including the cases. Washing goes into the basket if we've got back at 3am ready for the morning.

I'm the same when we land somewhere; gotta unpack it all the second we step into our hotel as that maximises the time we have on holiday! (So my thinking goes).

DH used to grumble but sees my logic, though I never expect him to join in, it's my thing 😆
