Am I the only one who thinks that the sight of the queens hearse covered in tatty thrown flowers looks so awful and disrespectful.

Probably not but I expect you're in a small minority.

Windinthepillows · 19/09/2022 15:50

Yes.

Windinthepillows · 19/09/2022 15:50

As in give over

TheyreOnlyNoodlesMichael · 19/09/2022 15:51

Could you not find another word to toss about with abandon? I feel like I may scream if I hear one more person whine "disrespectful".

Dollydea · 19/09/2022 15:52

It's tradition to throw a single flower, traditionally a carnation but I've seen people throwing bouquets complete with plastic still attached, someone looked like they threw an entire bush at one point.

scoopoftheday · 19/09/2022 15:52

I'm baffled as to why the crowd is cheering and clapping when she passes in some places.

hennybeans · 19/09/2022 15:52

I thought what a security risk throwing flowers was. Can you imagine if someone threw an egg instead? Or something worse? I was surprised it was allowed.

Windinthepillows · 19/09/2022 15:54

Stop moaning!

I hate that. A silence is so much nicer

Talipesmum · 19/09/2022 15:55

I am not sure it’s the right thing to do to throw flowers at the hearse, but actually I think they look really lovely!

Notanotherwindow · 19/09/2022 15:55

It's the phones that are pissing me off. It's a funeral for Christ's sake, why are you filming it? Would you want people filming your mother's funeral with their phones? Show some decorum, people.

Me too. How many times are they going to rewatch it?? And if they’re desperate to, just watch it on iPlayer ffs. It’s just for the saddo’s who are desperate to put it on FB and say ‘look at me, look at me. I was there, I was the saddest’ 🤔

Sparklingbrook · 19/09/2022 16:04

I always think that about the phones. The footage on IPlayer will be so much clearer with better sound. If you really feel the need to relive a funeral that is. Not your wobbly camera phone stuff.

bellabasset · 19/09/2022 16:05

I'm surprised that it's allowed but it's rather touching to see the hearse arriving covered in flowers.

HawthornLantern · 19/09/2022 16:07

I remember commentary from Diana’s funeral that said throwing flowers at a funeral procession dated back to the Middle Ages. I think people want to strew the Queen’s path with flowers. Personally I find it touching.

Momo8 · 19/09/2022 16:07

Who put you in charge of how to mourn the passing of someone Op?

What a strange thing to ask! Nobody on here is in charge of anything but can still have an opinion…

DevaleraSpawnOfSatan · 19/09/2022 16:14

Chavtastic.

DevaleraSpawnOfSatan · 19/09/2022 16:15

The throwing of flowers that is.

Augend23 · 19/09/2022 16:17

It's the cheering that is baffling me.

Figgygal · 19/09/2022 16:18

The mindless whooping like it's the jubilee is worse

AlwaysLatte · 19/09/2022 16:20

Hopefully.

ManateeFair · 19/09/2022 16:22

It’s not my thing, personally, but I don’t whine about it because I’m not the Grief Police.

I’m not especially bothered by the death of the Queen but I’d have thought that if you were, you’d probably at least wait until they’d buried her before logging on to Mumsnet to have a snobby gossip about the mourners.

Sparklingbrook · 19/09/2022 16:23

It’s ok now anyway she’s out of the hearse and the flowers on the car will be in the bin already.
