Am I the only one who thinks that the sight of the queens hearse covered in tatty thrown flowers looks so awful and disrespectful.

Better behaved? Is throwing flowers a sign of bad behaviour?

CurrentHun · 19/09/2022 20:03

I think the flower throwing is beautiful and heartfelt and it was the part of the day that I found most affecting. Unscripted tributes and clapping and all the rest of it. Lovely. The hearse looked beautiful arriving with the surviving flowers still on it. Evidence of public affection.

Could you not find another word to toss about with abandon? I feel like I may scream if I hear one more person whine "disrespectful".

I really can't bear hearing 'pomp and ceremony' ever again.

I feel the same about disrespectful.

No but the cheering and crowds showing up to watch the funeral pass wearing the brightest colours possible, very few "mourners" in black was weird.

Re the phones, I hope people know from a wide lens view where the camera phone isnt obvious in the hand, genuinely looks like hundreds of people doing the Nazi salute 😂

Right arm, stretched out straight to above head height 😂

Maybe think about that next time before you decide to live your life through a 6" screen 😳

This is exactly what my DH said about it! I just think they look like mindless zombies.

CaptainBarbosa you* *are spot on, I was on the Mall today and that's exactly what it looked like, a Nazi rally. I was only 4 rows of people back but so many people got out phones, really, really blocked the view.

Why can't people just live in the bloody moment. This massive historical event, the Queens funeral is marching past right in front of people but no, they view the while thing through their bloody phones.

Have to say though, most people around us where either in black or sombre colours.
