I'm a republican, and even so, tonight I raise a glass to Elizabeth as she seemed like a nice lady, but I also raise a toast to everyone else who will die today and who deserve to be be marked and remembered too.

Everyone is important, everyone is remarkable, and tonight I'm thinking of all those who have lost someone close to you.

💐🍷I can join you. May her Majesty rest in peace.

RIP 💙 to all who have passed, especially those who have passed alone, in pain and without any comfort.

AmbushedByCake1 · 08/09/2022 19:41

Yep. I've made myself a G&T and had a little toast to her Maj.

Veeragall · 08/09/2022 19:42

I raise you my glass of wine. I loved you, my dear Queen. You were the best of us.

ForensicFlossy · 08/09/2022 19:44

I will also join you.

Beamur · 08/09/2022 19:44

We're going to do the same. DH is an ardent republican and it was his idea.
She's been a remarkable Queen and had an extraordinary life.
We're certainly living in interesting times.

RIP the queen and RIP my mum 💐

Glass raised to your Mum RIP. I lost my Nan today and to be honest it now feels like her death will be overshadowed when she was a wonderful Nan.

Veeragall · 08/09/2022 19:54

@Overshadowed I raise a glass to your Nan. May she RIP. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Ushkin · 08/09/2022 19:55

Lovely sentiment, OP. Hear hear 🥂

I am no monarchist but I have really become to respect her stoicism, sense of duty and all she did as I got older. 70 years of service and putting duty first- like many of her generation. She is a huge part of our history as are those close to us we have lost.

catwomando · 08/09/2022 19:58

@Overshadowed , apologies. For your Nan

@Supersad for your mum Wine

At peace with her Philip, RIP 💔

notonl · 08/09/2022 20:09

Feel like some PP missed the point of the OP:

RIP The Queen and RIP everyone else who died today.

catwomando · 08/09/2022 20:11

@notonl Spot on.

@Overshadowed username says it all.

I just wanted to make sure that no one is overshadowed, because everyone matters.

Downandout01 · 08/09/2022 20:13

Yanbu. DH and I have raised a glass to the Queen but I'm also thinking of all those who passed today and to those they leave behind. So sorry for your losses of your loved ones @Supersad and @Overshadowed 💐 They will forever live in your memories x

Overshadowed · 08/09/2022 20:14

Thanks. My Nan was a wonderful woman who suffers greatly with I’ll health for 20+ years. I will miss her terribly but now have to spend the next few weeks seeing people mourn a woman they never met me whilst I’m mourning a woman who was the world to me. I know the Queen was amazing, but so was my Nan. Seems bizarre. And unfair for my Nan and everyone else who passed or lost a family member today.
