I'm a republican, and even so, tonight I raise a glass to Elizabeth as she seemed like a nice lady, but I also raise a toast to everyone else who will die today and who deserve to be be marked and remembered too.

Everyone is important, everyone is remarkable, and tonight I'm thinking of all those who have lost someone close to you.

Yes I'll join you - for everyone who died today. 💐

Phillip came to me today,
and said it was time to go.
I looked at him and smiled,
as i whispered that "I know"

I then turned and looked behind me,
and seen I was asleep.
All my Family were around me,
and I could hear them weep.

I gently touched each shoulder,
with Phillip by my side.
Then I turned away and walked,
with My Angel guide.

Phillip held my hand,
as he lead the way,
to a world where King's and Queens,
are Monarch's every day.

I was given a crown to wear
or a Halo known by some.
The difference is up here,
they are worn by everyone.

I felt a sense of peace,
my reign had seen its end.
70 years I had served my Country,
as the peoples friend.

Thank you for the years,
for all your time and love.
Now I am one of two again,
in our Palace up above.

I saw this online. ❤️

We’ve raised a wee glass to the Queen tonight.

Another republican here but I agree. Such an important lady in the history of the modern world. Raising a glass to those who have passed away today and their grieving families 🍷

ScottishLavender · 08/09/2022 20:25

To you all, as you leave this world behind. Slàinte mhath 🥃

Staygoldponyboystaygold · 08/09/2022 20:28

@Overshadowed raising a glass to your Nan, I’m sorry for your loss.

Also raising a glass to my dh’s Nan who has passed. A wonderful lady who survived the blitz in London.

I had huge respect for our Queen and am really feeling a sense of loss today.

BrioNotBiro · 08/09/2022 20:29

I said before this lovely thread I was going to raise a glass to Lizzie, so a double toast to her and to all those other, less well known but no less loved, people who have departed this life today.

Rest in Peace all.

Mossygreenchypre · 08/09/2022 20:29

I'll join in to raise a glass to the Queen, and to all the others who passed away today.
Of course I didn't know the Queen, but as my old Mum said "she was nice to have around"
My condolences to all who are mourning loved ones.

Rest in peace your Majesty 💐

Thanks. My Nan was a wonderful woman who suffers greatly with I’ll health for 20+ years. I will miss her terribly but now have to spend the next few weeks seeing people mourn a woman they never met me whilst I’m mourning a woman who was the world to me. I know the Queen was amazing, but so was my Nan. Seems bizarre. And unfair for my Nan and everyone else who passed or lost a family member today.

Thinking of you and your beloved Nan.
May she rest in peace.
Your grief is the price you have to pay for her love. Flowers

Perfect sentiment. RIP to those who passed today, and thoughts with those who lost someone. This goes any day, but today has highlighted a loss, and we should remember that people lose loved ones every day 🙏🏻

Spck · 08/09/2022 20:41

Raising a glass here too - she was doing royal duties on Tuesday and slipped away peacefully today. I find it remarkable really
