Right, these seem nigh on impossible to find these days! I don't want a snuggly softy one I want one I can put on when I get out the bath to get dry I.e made of towel!
How can I find one? Please help :)

I was going to suggest Lands End - and they're longer than most others I've seen too!

MovinOnUp · 04/09/2022 23:50

I've got this one!
It's lovely.

I always thought a bath robe was a posh word for dressing gown. Thanks OP I've been after one of these for ages. Ours are the type that don't feel right when wet.

Nat6999 · 05/09/2022 00:48

I've got one from a hotel I stayed in, they had them in the rooms & on sale at the reception. Since I have become disabled I use mine after a shower as I am too shattered to get dry. Instead I put mine on as I step out of the shower with a towel turban for my hair ,& go for a lie down until I have the energy to get dressed & dry my hair.

I used to have a wonderful thick cotton one. Used to be very easy to find them in every shop. Now when I read reviews of the robes that claim to be towel
robes or is clear that they are not the same. I have no interest in the thin polyester towel robes places are selling now.

I looked for a couple of years. I finally just switched to smooth microfiber. It is absorbent and comfortable. If I’m not getting a plush cotton robe, I don’t want a pale imitation of the real thing.

EveSix · 05/09/2022 01:08

Oh man, those synthetic fleece ones are grim.

MeetthemoveratDover · 05/09/2022 01:13

Hotels. They’re usually 100% cotton and very long sleeves.

AlwaysLatte · 05/09/2022 01:13

I completely agree, I hate that plastic fleece! I went to buy a couple for our guest bedroom recently and the fleece seemed to be the only option in most shops. We found these in the end;

My mum got me one a couple of years ago for Xmas in a lovely dark purple colour.
I use it everyday almost!
It's from Adore home. Can't vouch for the website as I've never used it, just had to check the label lol!
Otherwise dunelm have them too especially round Christmas time.

whumpthereitis · 05/09/2022 01:30

Another vote for the white company. Best one I’ve ever owned.

BaronessBomburst · 05/09/2022 01:37

Mine is from M&S, but the men's department. They're cut more generously too, and longer.

chillinwithmygnomies · 05/09/2022 01:50

I've been on the look for a towelling robe, would rather buy in person so I can actually feel that it is towelling and not fleecy at all or microfibre, I had loads when I was a kid but everything is fleecy these days.

Murdoch1949 · 05/09/2022 03:24

Lands End do lovely dressing gowns, long too, made from thick, towelling material. They are not cheap, but they do regular discounts and sales so keep returning to the site to get reductions. They are very good quality, can get out of shower and put them straight on and while you dry your hair the gown dries your body.

Hotfootit · 05/09/2022 03:32

Another vote for La Redoute. Have got several over the years - kids sizes to adult.

RosieRoww · 05/09/2022 08:37

But they are not all same texture, my hubby have one that's heavy and rough, almost crunchy like an over dried towel left too long in dryer. The others I have are more softy, although supposed to be a towelling cloth fabric as well.
Does anyone know where to get those rough, heavy ones?

SmallPrawnEnergy · 05/09/2022 08:40

I don’t understand towelling robes at all but DP uses them and has recently bought a really heavy thick one from Amazon. Grim things.

megletthesecond · 05/09/2022 08:43

M&S sell them.
They were my teens favourite Xmas presents last year. They love swanning around in them after a shower.

Chasingsquirrels · 04/09/2022 10:12

Dunelm always used to do them

My last one came from there.

Libertyqueen · 05/09/2022 08:48

Definitely get a Mens’ one. They are better made!

IfIHadAHeart · 05/09/2022 08:51

JYSK had them the other day. All dark colours.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 05/09/2022 08:52

Great thread. Thanks. It's always a trial to find a towelling dressing gown. I've looked at King of Cotton. Now I'm going to google the other suggestions.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 05/09/2022 08:53

If you want a good thick one that isn't white or pink look at men's ones. Nice and long, thick fabric and sensible dark colours like navy, bottle green, brown, grey and burgundy. So they don't get ruined by makeup or hairdye

Watterson?

Yes! Only I got the quote wrong as, even more mysteriously, it was just one noodle, not more...
