Right, these seem nigh on impossible to find these days! I don't want a snuggly softy one I want one I can put on when I get out the bath to get dry I.e made of towel!
How can I find one? Please help :)

The White Company do them, 100% cotton - I saw them in store yesterday. They had the classic ones which were heavy, and a lighter version called hydrocotton but which was still 100% cotton.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 04/09/2022 10:28

Mine’s from The White Company - one of their unisex Hydrocotton robes. Lovely post-bath.

Pixiedust1234 · 04/09/2022 10:30

I tried googling last year. Either fluffy, girly coloured, too small or hideously expensive. I hope you get some decent answers as I am still looking. The one i bought out of desperation makes me too hot. Cant even walk from bathroom to bedroom without sweating profusely and needing another shower 🙄

Professionallytorn · 04/09/2022 10:31

Another vote for John Lewis - really thick and soft and snuggly

MrsLargeEmbodied · 04/09/2022 10:32

they may be considered beach wear?

Dunelm always used to do them

Yes I second this, I've had mine from the 2 years and it's still nice. proper towel, not horrible fleece!

Poetnojo · 04/09/2022 10:37

Jysk have them too

MissMaple82 · 04/09/2022 10:39

Towelling! see them frequently

GoldPig · 04/09/2022 10:44

I got mine from next

KatRee · 04/09/2022 10:46

Google bath robe rather than dressing gown. Nowadays they seem to market them as a separate thing, I guess to try and make us think we need a special thing just for after you've had a shower and need to buy a separate dressing gown too

Albgo · 04/09/2022 10:54

I got a lovely one a few years ago from house of Fraser own brand. Is it called linea?

GetOffTheTableMabel · 04/09/2022 10:58

I have one from The White Company which very good. I hate being away from it and having to actually use a towel to get dry! Dd has one from M&S which is nearly as nice though and we bought elder DD one from IKEA recently which was very reasonably priced. I think they were only available in grey and are unisex stying but an absolute bargain.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 04/09/2022 10:59

mine was from Germany

balalake · 04/09/2022 10:59

YANBU to want one, bought one about three years ago, appreciate it very much. Mine came from M+S.

CoisFarraige · 04/09/2022 11:03

I second IKEA and Jysk.

I think I know where you are coming from OP. In the 80s/90s a towelling robe was literally made out of towel material.

Now (possibly for cost reasons?) they are much thinner, and even the ones that towel like aren't really "proper" towel material.

IcakethereforeIam · 04/09/2022 11:36

I want one with 3/4 length sleeves. I know I can roll them up but sometimes the material is so bulky, double thickness at the cuff or they'll come unrolled all the worst time. I don't want to shorten them myself because I'm crap at sewing. Perhaps I've got short arms but they'll often come down to your fingertips or beyond.

I've tried googling and checked the links pp have been kind enough to post, no luck so far.

Good luck, op.

Marks and Spencer- 100% towelling ribbed very thick cotton - very much likeThe White Company but cheaper!

Catlover77 · 04/09/2022 16:06

I had the same problem, they all seemed to be made out of fleece. Luckily I got the last one in m&s, it is a mens small

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 04/09/2022 16:12

I got mine from Christy. It’s white towelling but has a nice rib to the fabric that makes it slightly more interesting.

abovedecknotbelow · 04/09/2022 16:14

Decathlon have them at the moment in the open water swimming section

It's difficult buying dressing gowns online. I wanted a cotton waffle dressing gown like you get in hotels sometimes, for travelling and summer (in addition to my towelling one for drying off and my fluffy polyester one for snuggly sofa warmth… I know, I have too many dressing gowns). Bought online what I thought was the right thing, and it was waffle, and cotton, but the material was stretchy like thick T-Shirt, not at all like I was expecting.

Oh and while it is waffle pattern on the outside, on the inside it's flat, meaning it clings to you when your skin is slightly damp like a T-shirt does, which is the whole thing that the waffle pattern is supposed to avoid.

I hate returning things, though, so I'm just using it and feeling slightly let-down every time I put it on Grin

My hubby loves those. The fabric you looking at is called terry cloth.
