Missing/stolen parcel, new courier Evri.. what can I do?

Whereismyparcellllll · 03/09/2022 09:44

I ordered a delivery of clothes which is showing as being delivered to my door yesterday. It wasn't.

The delivery company is one I don't recognise, its called Evri and is supposed to be "the new hermes"

There is a proof of delivery photo which just shows my front door. No parcel visible in the picture. No neighbours have claimed it.

I live on a busy main road and my door is literally on the street so if it was there somebody could have easily stolen it, but I'm yet to see proof that it was put there in the first place as I said there's no parcel in the delivery picture.

I cant speak to a human, the complaints form puts you onto a chat with an automated robot and there is no number to call. The automated service is satisfied that it has been delivered citing the empty proof of delivery photo...

What can I do? I'm quite upset as it wasn't a cheap purchase.

Evri are diabolical. I never order from anyone who uses them.

That's good. Better late than never. You should contact the company and let them know. They might be able to cancel the new items. You weren't thinking about keeping quiet and hoping to profiteer from this were you 😯😯

No of course not.

They will most definitely get it back, I just don't want to be lumbered with postage costs because the company is in China.

If you seriously suspect you've been hit by a porch pirate, and something was stolen from your stoop, call the police and file a police report for the stolen package. Without witnesses, they won’t be able to do much, but they'll take note of the incident. If you have doorbell camera footage, be sure to share it with the officers. Also, let them know the time the delivery service said your package was delivered and when you found it missing.
If others in your neighborhood report the same problems, they’ll be more likely to investigate and find the package thieves.
Filing a police report can also be useful if you try to make an insurance claim on the missing delivery. Most of the time, a missing package is something you ordered. In that case, you want to reach out to the seller and let them know that your internal tracking number package hasn't been delivered.
Is the seller responsible for stolen packages? Maybe. It all depends on the site where you made your purchase and its policies. You may want to check with its customer service department.
I've had a lot of luck with companies that send out a replacement right away, no questions asked. But not every company will send you a replacement item or refund your money. Hold on to any proof that supports your claim.

The police literally couldn’t give a titting fuck about parcels being stolen. See my post up thread.

The reason why they've changed their name to Evri is because there's Evri chance you won't receive your parcel.

😂

As soon as I opened the door the courier said "here, this one is from Friday. I couldn't make an update saying I'd taken it back to the depot so I just took a photo of the door to prove I attempted delivery"

He then joked that he might well get paid twice.

I'm not convinced he'd have bothered bringing that parcel today had he not been given another one to bring here.

I’ve found redirecting delivery to one of their lockers is more reliable, but I’m lucky there’s a convenient one.

Although they’re still better than Royal Mail around here.

Littlefish · 03/09/2022 10:20

I think it really depends on the delivery driver.

The Evri person for our area is super reliable, contactable via Facebook and always really helpful.

Mine too.

sadly people rarely shout about good service.

Christonabike37 · 05/09/2022 23:12

Evri are shite! I sold some stuff on ebay. Single clothing items getting a report of wrong parcel size because a single swimsuit is more than 30cm long and 7cm thick? Apparently too wide
to fit though a letterbox but the Tracking says "posted through letterbox"? I'll not be posting with them again and will avoid companies that use them.

I definitely haven't selected my front door as a safe place.

Thanks for the info about the company being hermes. How strange that they've rebranded without making it clear.

I've been through the automated chat service three times now getting increasingly annoyed as I do. I've left my contact number in the event that somebody calls me back but I'm not convinced they will.

Good idea about social media. I'll take to twitter. Will also contact the shop. Thank you.

Bloody idiots. Who leaves a parcel on a doorstep.

Shouldn't they have actually photographed the parcel on the doorstep though?

They did make it clear, months ago, you must have just missed it!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 05/09/2022 23:22

They left a load of next parcels outside my house despite my porch being open. I can't believe they weren't nicked!

startfresh · 05/09/2022 23:26

In case you can't get through with urgent queries, I'd contact the CEO. He passes it on but it gets issues through.

Can you tell I've had lots of issues with Evri, and Hermes before.

Crap service.

They would open my front door and put parcels in when I didn't want them to and they didn't wait for me to answer the door.

Invasion of privacy.

PopPopPopP · 05/09/2022 23:51

I'm still waiting on a parcel from evri ...

Uberbeeboo · 30/11/2022 22:05

Hi I was wondering if you ever got this sorted out and what the outcome was?

We were notified that our parcel was delivered today and they took a photo of it leaning against our fence in full view of the street. Needless to say it's not there anymore.

Email the CEO on the following email address: [email protected]

After going round in circles with the customer service app I found that email address and sent an email asking for his help.

I didn't expect anything to come of it but I was very quickly contacted by the 'executive' team who promptly located my parcel and got things moving. I then received a telephone call from them apologising for the issue and assuring me they will follow up with another email which I could reply to directly if I didn't have my parcel within 48 hours.

The customer service form is absolutely crap but the higher ups are very helpful if you can go directly to then.

Good luck!

Sorry I forgot to add -

In my case (I'm the OP) the courier actually took the parcel back back the depot, the picture of it on my doorstep was just to show they had visited and attempted delivery. It's highly likely your parcel is at their local depot and they'll attempt another delivery. Do chase it up on the email address I linked above though, that will ensure its dealt with quickly.

Do you have your front door set as a “safe place”?

If not, then Evri themselves on their website state that front doors in public view are not considered safe places and thus the parcel theft is their responsibility.

I recently had similar, but I had the theft recorded on my security cameras. I was refunded by the shop I ordered from as my contract is with them, and their contract is with Evri.

Report the non-delivery to the shop, and go through their process, you’ll get your money back. Unless you’ve designated the front door as your safe place, and in that case you’ve absolved them all of any responsibility.

Hi there,

I was wondering if you could help me, as you seemed to know your Rights... Lol.... I'm at a total loss, I had a parcel delivered from Evri left at my front door, I do have a wee garden but just big enough for a garden bench... So my front door on full view of the street... I did contact Evri and I contacted Sports direct. The picture does show the parcel at my front door. I also have a note up please don't leave parcels if door not answered.... This has happened several times that the drivers are not even wrapping or ringing the bell just leaving the parcel at the front door and gate wide open to the world... As I've watched them do it.... After the missing parcel... So Evri phoned me and told me that it was left in an unsafe place to contact the seller, and also sent me and email stating all this... So contacted Sports direct through email.. they have been back and fourth with me looking into it and then on the 5 Dec sent me a denial of request form to fill in. ( I went ahead and sent it in through email don't know if I done it right I had to download adrode. As it came in pdfform I'm not tech savvy) Then later on that day they sent a message saying that they got confirmation from the delivery service that the parcel was left in a safe place at my back door .... My back door is open wide to an alleyway.. ???? And the case has been rejected... To either contact my back or credit card.... I paid with PayPal.... But I went to Paypal website to try and report it to them, but I ordered 99 pounds worth of different items so I don't know if I have to out in every item etc .... I not leaving this as I can't afford to be out of pocket of 100 quid.... I did try to read up and martin Lewis website to know my rights but still no further on... Could anybody point me in the right direction please. Would be very much appreciated..... Many thanks for your help and reply in advance. Kind regards

Just had this with Evri. Hundreds of pounds worth of stuff missing. Asos were great and refunded me immediately. Its a pain because I love Asos but I can't use them anymore because I know they use Evri! Can only really shop in Next now

pd339 · 08/12/2022 20:42

You just need to tell the company you ordered it from that it was not delivered and ask them to sort it. PS My local Evri person is appalling and sadly I now have to check that businesses don't use Evri before I order since I know that if Evri are involved it won't show up.

Halsall · 08/12/2022 20:56

It’s a total pain but I’ve now come to the conclusion that the only solution if Evri is your courier is to opt to go and pick up your own parcel from the nearest shop that offers that service. You can find out where that is from the Evri tracking info they send you.

Otherwise, they’re highly likely to lose it, not deliver it, claim they’ve delivered it and still not deliver it, totally forget about it, say they can’t find your address, say you weren’t in when you were, or all of the above.

notawittyname1954 · 08/12/2022 21:00

Like others have said contact the seller. Your contract is with them til you take safe delivery of the item. Even sellers have to e mail Evri and wait 24 hours for a reply. Its so frustrating. I was told a parcel had been delivered to my non existent shed, no photo, and then miraculously they delivered it that evening. So at best they are incompetent and at worst they lied

Halsall · 09/12/2022 10:21

Just to add, yes, contact the seller if Evri have already claimed to have delivered but nothing has arrived.

I have to say, though, that my seller - a company famed for its customer service - was utterly useless in resolving the situation with Evri. When I explained that they’d claimed to have tried to deliver but nobody was at home, when two people had been in the house all day, the customer services person tried to make excuses for Evri by saying they had a limited number of reasons available for non-delivery and they 'might have just picked any reason'. They ended up having to send a replacement item (an expensive/desirable one) and that’s why I decided, reluctantly, that I had to go and collect it myself. I couldn’t trust them to guarantee the exact same thing wouldn’t just happen again.

I'm afraid I don’t find any of that acceptable or convincing on the part of Evri or the seller. They must KNOW how shit Evri is.

curlycat · 09/12/2022 10:58

Did you get a how have we done email from them? When this happened to me I gave them the worst review and someone emailed me with excuses but it was a real person. Eventually after about 3 complaint emails someone phoned me

PleaseDontSayEvriIsMyCourier · 09/12/2022 11:11

Op you're not Kent are you?

www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/news/evri-delivery-probe-after-sackfuls-of-parcels-dumped-278464/

I honestly reckon my missing parcel is in this lot! Such a shame. Wonder why they're all here? A courier who quit mid shift? A load of stolen goods? God knows
