Missing/stolen parcel, new courier Evri.. what can I do?

Whereismyparcellllll · 03/09/2022 09:44

I ordered a delivery of clothes which is showing as being delivered to my door yesterday. It wasn't.

The delivery company is one I don't recognise, its called Evri and is supposed to be "the new hermes"

There is a proof of delivery photo which just shows my front door. No parcel visible in the picture. No neighbours have claimed it.

I live on a busy main road and my door is literally on the street so if it was there somebody could have easily stolen it, but I'm yet to see proof that it was put there in the first place as I said there's no parcel in the delivery picture.

I cant speak to a human, the complaints form puts you onto a chat with an automated robot and there is no number to call. The automated service is satisfied that it has been delivered citing the empty proof of delivery photo...

What can I do? I'm quite upset as it wasn't a cheap purchase.

  1. Contact the person or company you bought it from.
  2. If you paid by paypal open a claim
  3. If you paid by visa credit or debit card, start a charge back.

I've spoken with the company and they're processing a reshipment for me. The only problem now is that I'm going to be out of the country from 12th - 16th September which is the ETA for delivery. So that's another PITA.

They've suggested I make contact with the delivery company when I get my new tracking details, hopefully it isn't Evri.

I'm going to WFH when my other parcel is due to arrive so I can have words with the courier about this shit show. They usually use the same person per area right?

No, not necessarily.

Utter arseholes.

My other parcel is coming from vinted so I wouldn't be able to get a replacement if that doesn't turn up but atleast I have buyer protection on it.

I cant believe they get away with this.

When I buy from vinted I always change who the delivery company is (usually pick Royal Mail) even if it costs more.

If it doesn't offer another courier to Evri I refuse to buy it. They are just so unreliable.

I didn't realise that was an option actually. I'll make sure I opt for royal mail where possible with future purchases. I've never had any issues with royal mail. If I miss something they leave a card and I go and collect it from the depot.

I don't understand how Evri is still operating with the amount of problems people have.

You can, in theory, change your delivery with Evri. They usually contact you with tracking details and you can change the instructions. I did that. The instructions were ignored but I had proof they hadn't complied with my request.

Did you have the option to postpone delivery?

I don't have a safe place they can leave it and can't leave with neighbours.

I leave on the 12th and don't see it arriving before then as its coming from overseas.

It really depends on the individual. When we lived remotely we knew the delivery guy and he was great. In London there is no one person who delivers to our street.

Once had a picture of a box the size of a shoebox being held up to the letterbox, which it obviously no way fitted through! Described as being left “in safe place: letterbox”…

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 03/09/2022 11:21

I have had nothing but issues with Evri for the past 5/6 months. They've been a nightmare, I know the local courier who delivers the Hermes/Evri parcels and she's had issues with them as well

balalake · 03/09/2022 11:55

Start the chargeback.

It should be law that you have to be told and acknowledge who the delivery company is before you place and pay for any online order. To avoid scams being the main reason. Hermes would probably be out of business as a result.

ZealAndArdour · 03/09/2022 13:54

Sometimes the delivery person is even running the scam with a parcel thief where they’ll let them know which houses they’ve left parcels “safe” and someone follows along shortly after and “skims” the parcel from the safe place.

It’s fucking shady. In my case I had actual video evidence of an identifiable thief, I reported online to the police, I got an email back saying they’re basically not interested as I’m apparently not the victim, to contact the shop who my contract is with and they should sort it. I was like “okay cool, but do you want this crystal clear video evidence of a theft taking place in case it helps you establish a case in future, or you get more reports?”, he replied and said no, that places like asos etc don’t have the resources in place/inclination to ever take any of it to court so the police don’t get involved. But in the event they ever did then the police would gather evidence at that point. So there is literally no penalty or deterrent for stealing goods from peoples gardens or front door steps. I might take it up myself.

ThisisCollie2022 · 03/09/2022 14:02

This has happened to me a few times. Evri just ditch the parcel on the doorstep in all weather's despite having instructions to deliver to my neighbour if I'm not in.

I was on holiday 2 weeks ago and something was delivered late, left on the doorstep and subsequently stolen.

Evri asked me to leave a review so I did. And the driver hasn't returned. We have a new one who knows how to follow basic instructions.

I hate the fact that Next use Evri!

ThisisCollie2022 · 03/09/2022 14:03

Blame Samsung for any rogue apostrophes. My predictive text goes a bit wild 😆

Whereismyparcellllll · 03/09/2022 17:35

It's an absolute liberty, I'm sorry so many others seem to have similar problems with them.

The company I bought from has dispatched replacement items bar one thing that isn't in stock any longer. I can see that they're using royal mail this time. Thank fuck for that.

Now I just have to hope for the best WRT my item from vinted. I'll be plugged in right next to the front door so they can't say I'm not home.

They have to provide a photo in order to "complete" the delivery or delivery attempt....if delivery completed the parcel should be shown in the safe place or once the door has been opened, with the open door. If delivery not completed, they should take a photo of the house number/ name. So either they have taken a photo of the door and marked as completed instead of not completed, or they have stolen it from you.

The parcel should always be visible in the picture if completed (what's the point otherwise 🤣) so if the driver has stolen it, they have basically provided their own evidence of that...it seems odd to me that they didn't take the photo of the parcel at your door, then "steal" it if that was their intention. So I do wonder if they attempted delivery and the driver took the photo to confirm that they had attempted this, but then marked delivered instead in error? It really doesn't make much sense otherwise.

Anyway...I have only ever had one issue with Hermes or Evri since they changed their name, where a parcel went missing. I know they have a bad rep so I don't use them for anything "important " but they are usually pretty good for me.

Womencanlift · 04/09/2022 08:41

I also had problems with Next using Evri. Must admit though Next were great to deal with and long story short I ended up with a piece of furniture for pretty much free because every time Evri didn’t deliver Next gave me a partial refund to the extent I only paid about £10 for something significantly more expensive than that

Interesting that Evri’s Twitter account has been suspended for breaking Twitter rules. I went back and checked the one I was dealing with and saw it had been suspended. Wondering now if it was a real account

I have always said it should be law that online companies are obliged to give the consumer the choice of how the parcel is sent to them (even if it is a different price structure). I hate the fact that you do not know who is delivering until after iII have completed your order in a lot of cases

Charcy · 04/09/2022 08:54

Evri are terrible.
Email the attached. They'll get back to you eventually.
Logging it with the seller is normally a lengthy process as Evri have 7 working days to deliver in most cases and your seller will just make you wait.

I wish it was legislation that companies advertise what company they use for delivery. I've stopped ordering from several retailers due to them using these muppets. The drivers aren't all terrible, but the company customer service is practically non existent.

Missing/stolen parcel, new courier Evri.. what can I do?
Eyesee1 · 04/09/2022 08:59

This is the proof of delivery photo they took.

There isn't a parcel in sight.

I can vaguely make out the silhouette of a slightly overweight man in the reflection of my door so if a chap fitting that description turns up with my vinted parcel I will be having words

I can't prove who has stolen it be it the courier or a random passer by but I can prove it was their fault.

Twats.

Oops NC fail, I'm the OP!

Whereismyparcellllll · 05/09/2022 17:40

The missing parcel has just turned up. It arrived with the other delivery I was waiting for. I was about to have eords

It turns out the courier didn't leave it on the doorstep he just took the photo to show he had attempted delivery and then took it back to the depot.

So that's great but ive already told the company who I bought from that the parcel was stolen from my doorstep and now they've dispatched replacements..

WWYD?

Contact the clothes company to say the missing parcel has just turned up.

Glad it's arrived!

MaMisled · 05/09/2022 17:51

For anyone having issues withEvri/Hermes, Google a company called Resolver. I don't know whether they use fair means or foul but they get results in the form of your missing parcel or a full refund! It must be magic!

That happened with me. I contacted the company I bought from and told them. Thinking they might say just keep it but no the sent out a courier to pick it up next day.

Funnily enough that Evri courier turned up bang on time 🙄

That's good. Better late than never. You should contact the company and let them know. They might be able to cancel the new items. You weren't thinking about keeping quiet and hoping to profiteer from this were you 😯😯
