To complain about this Sunday lunch?

lampsolihht · 21/08/2022 16:11

Went out for Sunday lunch and the only meat left was belly pork with crispy crackling (as listed on menu )
It arrived and there was hardly any meat just fat and the crackling was fat (not crispy in the slightest )
I complained but was told "that's how it's meant to look"
Aibu ?

Belly pork is pretty much all fat tbh.
the first picture where it’s mostly eaten, the crackling near the fork looks crispy. Is the second picture the bottom of it?

Longdistance · 21/08/2022 16:17

That’s yuck! And no it’s not supposed to look like that.
Trip Advisor and add a review. If it’s a chain I’d contact Head office.

lampsolihht · 21/08/2022 16:17

No the second picture is the top of it

That looks rank.as a pp said it’s usually mostly fat. Sorry you didn’t have a good experience

Bellyups · 21/08/2022 16:18

No I wouldn’t be happy to be served that. Yes, it’s a fatty cut, but that is ridiculous.

MrsToothyBitch · 21/08/2022 16:19

The first picture doesn't look unusual for belly pork IME - it's not the meatiest cut. But that crackling is a CRIME and I'd be v disappointed with that. And I say this as someone who loves pork fat.

Tania64 · 21/08/2022 16:20

Totally gross. Photos like this remind me why I don't eat meat. Try sticking to plant based it's better in every way.

girlmom21 · 21/08/2022 16:20

That doesn't even look cooked

Crikeyalmighty · 21/08/2022 16:22

Looks revolting!

lampsolihht · 21/08/2022 16:17

No the second picture is the top of it

But it’s the other side of the meat in the first picture, which has mostly been eaten.

lampsolihht · 21/08/2022 16:36

There was a tinniest bit of meat
I wish I had taken a picture of it properly before I started eating it

Why would they use belly pork for a roast? Gross. This is why I never have a pub roast,

StolenCookie · 21/08/2022 16:45

I find pork belly extremely hit and miss in pubs/restaurants. Divine when cooked correctly but plenty of places serve abysmal versions where the ‘crackling’ is a rubbery, chewy disaster. Yours looks dreadful!

StolenCookie · 21/08/2022 16:46

Pork belly is a very standard roast option, what are you talking about??

Arnaquer · 21/08/2022 16:48

That's dreadful . I would r have accepted it and returned it straight away

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/08/2022 16:50

I love belly pork but it is NOT a Sunday roast cut!

InFiveMins · 21/08/2022 16:54

This has got to be a wind up surely 😂

It looks disgusting!

MasterBeth · 21/08/2022 16:56

Looks shit. Don’t go back.

Oblomov22 · 21/08/2022 16:57

That looks grim. Really vile. Dh loves pork belly.

BMW6 · 21/08/2022 16:59

I would have sent that back without touching it - much too fatty.

DangerouslyBored · 21/08/2022 17:00

Boak. Vegetarianism just got even more appealing…

lampsolihht · 21/08/2022 17:04

I was fuming
Fancied a Sunday lunch all week.
Wanted chicken but they only had the pork left.
I now know why ....never again
£16.95 too !

mrcow · 21/08/2022 17:16

How could they possibly expect someone to eat that?

Crikeyalmighty · 21/08/2022 17:20

It's one meal I don't have out , because in my view they are expensive for what they are, not hard to make and I honestly think my own are better.

Longdistance · 21/08/2022 17:21

£16.95? Slab of —shit meat— veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire and gravy.
