To complain about this Sunday lunch?

lampsolihht · 21/08/2022 16:11

Went out for Sunday lunch and the only meat left was belly pork with crispy crackling (as listed on menu )
It arrived and there was hardly any meat just fat and the crackling was fat (not crispy in the slightest )
I complained but was told "that's how it's meant to look"
Aibu ?

I simply wouldn't have paid for it, and I certainly wouldn't have eaten it

20viona · 21/08/2022 17:23

That is foul id defo complain.

IvorCutler · 21/08/2022 17:24

I have pork in the oven now and that has put me right off! Looks horrible.

hulahooper2 · 21/08/2022 17:27

That looks vile

CeeJay81 · 21/08/2022 17:33

Would not have been happy with that. Went for Sunday lunch for someone's retirement meal. Had beef but the pork most def didn't look like that.

SicParvisMagna · 21/08/2022 17:36

Was it a Toby Carvery? They're always shite. That looks like pure fat 😖

It's one meal I don't have out , because in my view they are expensive for what they are, not hard to make and I honestly think my own are better.

I am always disappointed in a roast dinner out. They’re never anywhere as good as I can make at home.

Although years ago, I remember my ex remarking to his parents that there is rarely any point in eating out because I can usually make the same thing much better at home (which was a compliment). His mum pointed out that me getting to relax and not having to cook (shop/plan/etc) was part of the appeal. 😆

Still, the food has to be good enough to make the trade off worth it. Soggy frozen veg, overly fatty meat, crackling that does not crackle and so on do make you wish you’d just stayed at home and find it yourself.

sorry your meal wasn’t great OP.

TheManSellsFish · 21/08/2022 17:46

That nearly made me heave - and I often choose pork belly, so no vegan.

lampsolihht · 21/08/2022 17:58

The rest wasn't great either
Luke warm veg and Luke warm gravy ...stone cold Yorkshire pudding

I wouldn't have been happy at all. Get straight on Tripadvisor!! Pork belly is lovely when done correctly and it's not that hard. It's just laziness!

lampsolihht · 21/08/2022 19:40

Well according to them that's how it's meant to look 🙈

@Tania64
agreed that’s disgusting, poor pig killed to end up being disgusted by everyone so sad😢🐷

SparklyLeprechaun · 21/08/2022 19:43

I wish I hadn't looked at that just before having my dinner. Yuck

fufflecake · 21/08/2022 19:46

Hard to tell as you've eaten it. I never go for pork anyway due to the risk of worms.

curlymom · 21/08/2022 19:51

lampsolihht · 21/08/2022 19:40

Sorry that was it good! I think in general eating out has gone downhill past couple of years. They need to make an effort. I can’t believe you paid so much for that

curlymom · 21/08/2022 19:52

Sorry I meant not good 🙄

Rachaelrachael · 21/08/2022 19:54

And that's why I don't eat meat 😷

MugginsOverEre · 21/08/2022 20:21

A sin against pork! That's awful. If the manager/wait staff were unwilling to admit that their restaurant effed up then I would have no qualms about leaving accurate reviews. A small apology and maybe a discount would go a long way with most people but that place now deserves its name and shame.
I once ordered tea and the milk was chunky and floated. Being in the service industry myself I discreetly asked the waitress for a fresh pot and some more milk and she huffed at me, and argued. She actually argued that, "Well it's cream! And cream looks like that!" I told her that no, it wasn't cream and even if it was, you don't serve cream with tea. It's for coffee!
Had she just took the little tin teapot away and brought another I wouldn't have needed to make a complaint and have her told off by her manager who was not best pleased. Some people shoot themselves in the foot.

At least if you leave fair reviews people will know to stay away from that shitty excuse for roast pork.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 21/08/2022 20:23

No, I wouldn’t be happy with that

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 21/08/2022 20:24

Seeing as they had a chance to remedy it and chose to talk nonsense and belittle you, I’d have no qualms about posting an accurate review with picture.

I love pork and crackling and would be so disappointed with this!

lampsolihht · 22/08/2022 09:43

I really wish I could have shown you the minuscule amount of "meat" that was on
It was literally all fat

lampsolihht · 22/08/2022 10:43

Well it's safe to say no more Sunday lunches out for a while
