Now they have a clear CCTV image it only has to be a matter of time before an arrest is made but seriously, what is this world coming to.

The article gives details of 6 murders in 4 days in London.

This is terrifying. I like to know what is going on around me but it is very tempting to take a step back from the news and live in my own bubble.

I heard that this morning. Praying for this poor man's soul and family and that they find the cowardly perpetrator ASAP. If they'll do that a disabled OAP I have no doubt they'll do it again.

It has been broadcast steadily all yesterday and today. A great deal of sheer outrage at a hideous crime.
They have published a CCTV of someone the police want to interview. Won't be long before the police have him and find out what he and his pals have been up to.

Do we have an idea of motive? Seems butterfly bizarre to me.

Various reports that he had been busking &/or collecting for charity. It may have been for money? I drove past today - very heavy police presence at the site. Queues back for miles with people rubber necking.

Well what I mean is that on AIBU which normally gets lots of responses as I type now there are just 16 and the thread wasn't even started until this afternoon despite it being on the news for 2 days.

If it had been a child murdered in this way I think there would have been a lot more comment.

As I say despite this crime being a couple of days old mumnset has managed less than 20 comments. That it what I am on about!

I felt sick when I read this. No one should die like that in terror and pain at the hands of another like that but I find especially distressing knowing that it was a vulnerable and completely defenceless elderly man. How low can you get?

LaurieFairyCake they've released an image of the suspect now. He looks to be in his thirties.

I live in London and I think we have to stop accepting that knife crime and gang violence is inevitable.

There is a clear pic of the guy in this instance and I am sure he will be caught.

But more generally I really want to see the police and the judicial system do more. That includes more stop and search and being tough on even low level anti-social behaviour and drug dealing and giving proper prison sentences.

I live in East London and I see too many kids with lazy parents who are allowed to run riot in the streets and think that gang life is glamourous. Or really dodgy guys who have no respect for anyone else and seem to think they are untouchable.

I am usually a socialist and pretty liberal but when it comes to law and order I really want to see as serious rethink about why we have let anti-social behaviour and violence get so out of control. There is too much ''me, me, me and my rights' and not enough social responsibility and respect for others.

I think the Mayor has done nothing to improve the situation.

I could not care less either about political correctness or trying to pacify certain communities. Everyone's safety is what matters.

I can't believe the police don't know who is. I find it hard to believe this is the first time he's been involved in violence.

Nothing will happen though people will still be stabbed its every week now. Country has lost the plot. Poor man. Nothing surprises me anymore and prison isn't good enough anymore. People aren't worried about going there.
