To think it's not unusual for a woman to have size 42+ feet ...

... and yet so many shoe ranges only go up to a size 41! Why is that? I've had problems buying shoes ever since my early teens. I rarely own more than 2 pairs at any one time, because finding shoes that I like, and which fit, is so difficult. If size 42 (or more) isn't unusual, then there must be a big untapped market out there.

@LewisLittUp my feet are exactly the same size as yours! I get my shoes from Marisota / JD Williams and don’t even bother looking anywhere else

For those bl3ssed with bigger feet, have a look at after8 shoes - does what it says on the tin, and not all fugly rubbish!

I don't think it is that small any more and is probably more like 5'5

I was surprised too, but I would trust nationally-representative data from the Office of National Statistics, no? It doesn't really matter what impression you (or I) have.

I'd be really interested to see this adjusted for people under 40. My perception is that averages are changing dramatically for younger people. DD is going into Year 5 and this week I've bought her school shoes in a size 37 and trainers in a 38. It feels a bit like when puppies have massive paws and you can tell they will grow up to be really big dogs.

@MrsAvocet I should hunt to see if I can find another one but a good few years ago I saw an graphical representation of the EU to UK sizes.

Anyway they don't match as you say.

The nearest UK size to a EU 40 is UK 7 but a UK size 7 is bigger while the nearest size to an EU 41 is a UK 7.5 but I think the EU 41 was bigger, as they are done on completely different scales.

Jangly they are lovely. I looked up a site lately cant recall name nothing under 150 pounds 😐. I get few in Ireland but not massive choice

JanglyBeads · 28/08/2022 13:25

I realised I got them not directlyfrom JDWilliams, altho that's who made them, but via crazyclearance.com which I think might have been a recommendation upthread - so thank you, whoever that was!!
