For this to make me hot just looking

In south east. It is not just hot it's overwhelming and enough to make you ill. Gone out in car just for the air con and seeing people in jeans and even seen one person in a cardigan. Wtf?!? Anyone else noticed this?

For you, not for everyone.
Some people struggle in temperatures that I think are totally fine.
Im dressed more summery because it’s the weekend but all week I’ve been in work and have had to continue life as normal and dressing appropriately for work.

Having a light cardigan doesn’t make you massively warmer but will protect your skin from the sun.

Wearing next to nothing isn’t the only way to be cool.

35965a · 14/08/2022 14:45

Some people do better in heat than others. I find uncovered skin way worse in the sun. So I always have a cardigan on in hot weather. Not a thick woolly one, a thin one.

bluberries · 14/08/2022 15:01

It could be they have a skin condition or are on medication or they may genuinely feel cold. If it bothers you that much stop looking at them.

tinplantpot · 14/08/2022 15:01

When people are on chemo they often feel the cold.

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 14/08/2022 15:03

Family aimed day out place yesterday.. Over 30 degrees. Plenty of shorts etc. One man was wearing long sleeved buttoned up shirt, dark jeans and proper dress shoes!

liveforsummer · 14/08/2022 15:06

I have to put a hoodie on to go in to supermarkets so I'll be seen with that on until I defrost sufficiently from the fridge and freezer aisles. I saw my neighbour leaving the street the other afternoon though and we stopped to chat about how hot it is. She was wearing an actual jacket. Even I was confused at that one.

Sunnyqueen · 14/08/2022 15:07

Some people just handle the heat better. Or they might be ill or on crack?

TheVanguardSix · 14/08/2022 15:10

I just assume their ability to regulate temperature is different from mine.
One of my heart meds (not on it anymore) used to make me feel the cold much more. It was ridiculous. I was that person wearing my down jacket in warm weather.

stuntbubbles · 14/08/2022 15:11

I saw a man in a three-piece tweed suit earlier, hat, cravat, all that jazz. I’d need to be hospitalised.

AclowncalledAlice · 14/08/2022 15:15

It never ceases to amaze me how some people get to adulthood and still haven't grasped that not everyone is the same as them.

I don't wear a hat, scarf or gloves when I go out during the depths of winter...I don't even own a thick winter coat. I don't feel the cold just as some don't feel the heat. So what?

sunsetsandsandybeaches · 14/08/2022 15:17

Everyone's different but I was out walking the dogs the other morning (early) and saw someone in a zipped up black puffer jacket, long trousers and winter boots. It was 22 degrees!

Herecomestreble1 · 14/08/2022 15:53

Christ, the amount of incredibly aggy responses to a general musing is hilarious.

ramarama · 14/08/2022 15:57

Agreed. There were people on the Northern line at rush hour (approx 35C?) in puffer jackets, jeans, leggings, coats. I recognise people feel heat differently but some of these people do look uncomfortably hot and are sweating, but won't unzip their jackets.

rainbowandglitter · 14/08/2022 15:59

I went to a cafe for lunch and there was a teenage girl wearing black jeans, trainers and a puffer jacket fully zipped up! Just why? It's over 30 degrees here.

onmywayamarillo · 14/08/2022 16:02

I just saw someone wearing an anorak and joggers! 🥵

onmywayamarillo · 14/08/2022 16:02

It's 35 here and no wind cloudy and still

LionessesRules · 14/08/2022 16:09

I'm wearing jeans today.
Its only just over 20C round me. I watched DC play football, have weeded the garden, and put together flatpack. I've been fine.
I was wearing shorts the previous few days when it was closer to 30C.

terriblyangryattimes · 14/08/2022 16:11

Today at the supermarket carpark I watched someone dawdling along slow as you like wearing jeans tucked into thick looking black walking socks and trainers. On his top half he has a hoody and a denim jacket over that.

Did a double take. I'm sweltering in just a thin summer dress!
Also south east and it was 31 degrees

Blackdiame · 14/08/2022 16:12

Oh the irony

Sometimes teenage girls feel very self conscious about their bodies and feel the need to cover up (chances are they would look lovely in whatever but I know some can feel like this )

LaughingCat · 14/08/2022 16:20

I’m in the south east in a jeans and thick hoodie right now. I’m even wearing socks 😂. I’m not feeling cold without them, it’s just that I’m not feeling hot in them. So just wearing my usual shizz.

Iusyje · 14/08/2022 16:28

In addition to people being different, I think people wear "warm" clothing to hide bad skin, or hide a missing button etc. (That's what I would be doing if I had a cardigan in high temo. weather and absolutely had yo go out as well.) On the other hand, I saw 2 girls on train who were probably 12-13, dressed in VERY skimpy tops and normal knickers. That's all. Yes, it was hot BUT I was gobsmacked. And in true English fashion, we all looked like it was normal (not that we could say/do anything about it) except a boy who might have been same age - looking open mouthed at his mother amd giggle. I was glad to see that I wasn't mad or crazy to think that was very inappropriate dress. So bring on the cardigan and puff jacket wearers.

FakingMemories · 14/08/2022 16:34

I live in a country that’s hot for months on end. It’s not been below 38 since the beginning of June. We were at 47 a few days ago. I wear long sleeves but they are rash guard tops with SPF built in (I’ve no idea how, but they work). So it might look like I’m in a jumper but it’s a thin protective layer.

PrettyasaPainting · 14/08/2022 16:49

My ASD son wears the same long sleeved brushed cotton shirt whether it's 30 degrees or -5 and never gets burnt either!

I know! This was surely the least goady musing ever and yet has caused people to get really crossHmm ?!??
