In south east. It is not just hot it's overwhelming and enough to make you ill. Gone out in car just for the air con and seeing people in jeans and even seen one person in a cardigan. Wtf?!? Anyone else noticed this?

I know! This was surely the least goady musing ever and yet has caused people to get really crossHmm ?!??

It’s the heat. It’s worse than being hangry. Everyone needs a Solero then a nice thunderstorm.

Gingernaut · 14/08/2022 18:04

I've seen puffa jackets, padded anoraks, hoodies, scarves, beanies and bobble hats

I am really tempted to ask "Are you warm enough?"

XenoBitch · 14/08/2022 18:05

I am covered up as I have a lot of scars from self harm. I don't care that it would make someone feel hot to look at me.

Why? Why are you tempted to give random people going about their day hassle about their clothes.

DiscoBadgers · 14/08/2022 18:11

Went to a local attraction with DS and the poor staff looked miserable in their black 3 piece suits and hats. I did feel for them!

nokidshere · 14/08/2022 18:11

I don't wear a hat, scarf or gloves when I go out during the depths of winter...I don't even own a thick winter coat. I don't feel the cold just as some don't feel the heat. So what?

Me too, I've never owned a coat.

My almost 70yr old DH walked home from the train station (about 2 miles) the other day fully dressed in dark clothes, shirt, and a jacket. He walked in looking as cool as a cucumber, didn't even break sweat. He definitely doesn't feel overheated. Unlike me who was waiting for him on the sofa wrapped in wet towels with a fan permanently on and still moaning about dying in the heat.

I feel the cold. I always have. I've asked the doc a million times about thyroid tests but they always come back normal.

I used to be told (as a child) that I wasn't to put a jumper on because I couldn't be cold. It wasn't cold. Why was I cold. Stop complaining. Are you warm enough why have you got a jumper on. You couldn't be cold. It's not cold. Are you warm enough.

That gets pretty annoying after years of it.

Yes. I am warm enough in the clothes I am wearing. Why do you care? I'm not making you wear the.

Frolicinameadow · 14/08/2022 18:14

I’m on medication that makes me more susceptible than average to get skin cancer. I wear spf daily regardless of the weather and cover from top to toe. Usually wearing a hat too to keep my scalp safe.
I get looks and comments off people and I’m generally kind in response realising people mean no harm but these last few weeks it’s been exhausting. It’s almost an hourly conversation so I’ve stopped going out. I’m thinking of getting cards printed and handing them out to save me the time

StoneofDestiny · 14/08/2022 18:19

I agree OP - seen similar spectacles and so many dressed in black. It actually does make you feel even hotter!

Ponoka7 · 14/08/2022 18:20

My grandad lived out his days in New Orleans, he always wore a suit and at times an overcoat, as did many of his well dressed friends. He'd travelled the world in the Merchant Navy, so wasn't acclimatised. I'm another one who doesn't feel the cold, so get how some don't feel the heat. My eldest blasts her heating to as hot as this, so this temperature is nothing to her. She can't function in the cold.

APJ1 · 14/08/2022 18:24

I thought this was going to be about a photo of an attractive celebrity! 😆

Costacoffeeplease · 14/08/2022 18:28

How does this actually affect you, op?

I thought we’d gone beyond policing other people’s clothing choices

I don’t care what people do or do not wear, but I wish people would not run their car engines solely for the aircon.

nokidshere · 14/08/2022 18:43

@Allschoolsareartschools

Sorry maybe I should qualify that I've never owned a coat since I was 15 when people stopped thinking they could make me wear one 😁 I personally have never bought a coat. I might stretch to a cardigan but it has to be really freezing for that.

I just don't, or very very rarely, feel the cold. The usual standing joke is 'if nokidshere has a cardigan on it must be bloody freezing'.

Jumpformylov3 · 14/08/2022 18:47

Maybe you saw me op? Haha I wear a hijab and a thin long cardigan over either a maxi dress or skirt or I wear a tunic with jeans and a maxi skirt

I'm British born and haven't been used to the heat but I find it cooler to be covered up. Stops the sun! I take.it off in my garden and I feel hotter than when covered up to be honest. But everyone is different. How do you think people in middle Eastern countries cope?

Where my dh is from t
Most of the summer is 40c plus and 30s in the night

Sparklingbrook · 14/08/2022 18:51

There was a thread not long ago moaning about people wearing jeans in the heat.
Sometimes people have to do more than just sit outside in a floaty dress enjoying the weather I suppose. Sometimes jeans are more practical.

Echobelly · 14/08/2022 18:53

Oh God, I can't bear looking at people in jeans in hot weather, even when it's not this hot. How can people do it? Denim gets absolutely boiling when it gets above even about 21C in my experience.

I saw a man in a three-piece tweed suit earlier, hat, cravat, all that jazz. I’d need to be hospitalised.

I saw a cat, and it was wearing a fur coat! (but no cravat - well it is a bit warm round here)

Mummy2mybear · 14/08/2022 19:00

I have seen people in coats, it's very warm but I don't think it's my place to judge what other people wear they may have a reason for it maybe they feel cold... I just carry on with my day I certainly don't put that much thought into it 😂
