Anyone else swell up in this heat?

My entire body bloats when it's this hot, and I feel really uncomfortable. Easily looks like I've gained 5lbs from water retention. I drink lots of fluids but nothing makes a difference.
I see lots of women in shorts, skirts and nice dresses but I'm living in long, floaty dresses to cover myself up. Does anyone else have this?

Oh yes, can't wear my jewellery or fitted shoes. Birkies only. Hate my knickers and could set fire to my bra if I could get away without wearing it.

Fedupwiththeheatnow · 12/08/2022 20:46

It's a nightmare isn't it :(
Always makes me feel like I've been overating, but I haven't and even a little bit isn't going to cause such weight gain overnight!

I feel the same. I can feel it in my thighs and stomach, particularly at the end of the day walking home from work. My bra is unbelievably uncomfortable too. I drink so much water. Is there anyway to tackle this bloat or just wait for cooler weather? :(

ScarlettnotOHara · 12/08/2022 21:03

Yeah it’s absolutely horrible, my fingers are like sausages and my husband has cankles !!

MsChatterbox · 12/08/2022 21:06

Yep!! I feel so puffy. Its annoying because I've recently lost 15lbs and now I just don't see the difference anymore 😩

DwightShrutesYFronts · 12/08/2022 21:09

I've got fat swollen feet and cankles. It feels and looks horrible.

EmmaH2022 · 12/08/2022 21:10

yes, I do
particularly fingers which are like sausages

also around eyes and temples

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 12/08/2022 21:11

I did. What works for me is increasing both salt and fluid intake and ensuring I stretch - so a packet of crisps each day or a good pinch of salt on some food. If I don’t, I get headaches, nausea and swell like a balloon.
Also, even though no one wants to, keep moving around during the day, don’t just sit.

onemouseplace · 12/08/2022 21:12

Yes, I do as well. Interestingly, I've just got back from somewhere equally as hot, but much drier heat and I didn't swell up at all!

Gufo · 12/08/2022 21:12

My feet and ankles do - it looks like someone has pumped me up with a bike pump!

Blue4YOU · 12/08/2022 21:16

Yeah I do! Everywhere. Its like when I was pregnant. One of the many reasons I dislike the heat

Deux · 12/08/2022 21:16

Keep salt intake up especially if sweating a lot as per PP. it really does help.

EmmaH2022 · 12/08/2022 21:30

I don't sweat much which I presume is part of the problem?

i tried salt because I don't have much salt, but it made no difference.

35965a · 12/08/2022 21:34

Yeah, my rings have gone tight and I just feel bloated and gross. Daren’t go near the scale as I’ve probably gained a few lbs water weight even though we are all too hot to eat much!

Pebble55 · 12/08/2022 21:40

No. 32 isn't that hot. You British are so funny 🤣

the80sweregreat · 12/08/2022 21:41

Yes! I hate hot weather

There is always one post like this on these kind of threads. Bore off somewhere else !

DatingIsDifficult · 12/08/2022 22:00

This is interesting about salt @Alphabet1spaghetti2 and @Deux and I too have swollen cankles.

How much salt? In food? Drink? All at once or spread throughout the day? I don’t want to have a bag of crisps each day as I’m not a fan really, and I don’t like salty food so maybe I’m just permanently salt deprived?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/08/2022 22:03

My feet and ankles do. I usually have nice legs, but now I look like I have somebody else's giant ankles and feet stuck on the end of my legs Sad

MrsMigginsCat · 12/08/2022 22:13

My feet, ankles and fingers all swell in this weather. I drink loads of water, but I'm not a sweaty person so maybe I'm just holding on to the water. Anyway, it's seriously annoying and uncomfortable.

ThomasinaGallico · 12/08/2022 22:18

You should see my hands when I’m adventurous enough to have a long walk in warm weather. They look like those vinyl gloves blown up to look like balloons.

Why is every fucking day "take the piss out of the British" or "be rude about the British" day?

Time we started firing back.

Lipsandlashes · 12/08/2022 22:26

Yes, horribly. It makes me feel sick and uncomfortable too. Then the added bonus is my water retention decides to come out in the middle of the night - meaning I can easily make 5 trips to the loo

ScarlettnotOHara · 12/08/2022 22:29

@Pebble55 it is that hot when our weather is usually late 20s at most ! Plus we don’t have the air conditioning , tiled houses and cool pools that hot countries have !!

This is me!!
I spend all night weeing and all day bloating up. It's a delight.
