To take bets on how many shall I report neighbour threads there will be?

During the hose pipe ban.? There was so many during lockdown I can imagine some people with their ear to the wall timing neighbours showers, counting flush pulling let alone using a hosepipe.

Don't get me wrong I understand the need for one and I do think it should be followed but I don't personally think its something I would report.

My bet is 28

Giraffesandbottoms · 13/08/2022 06:52

YANBU I am very very excited for all the mad frothing

Barnowl25 · 13/08/2022 06:52

Not so bothered about hosepipes but my idiot neighbour lit a bonfire yesterday. Told hom if he did it again I would report him. We have livestock and associated buildings and are surrounded by fields dry as a desert. He is a fucking moron.

Giraffesandbottoms · 13/08/2022 06:52

I’m also looking forward to seeing the mental gymnastics people use to justify their own water usage when they break the rules

Suzi888 · 13/08/2022 06:54

Who would you report them to?

Bumtum126 · 13/08/2022 06:55

Suzi888 · 13/08/2022 06:54

Who would you report them to?

The water companies

DashboardConfessional · 13/08/2022 06:58

Suzi888 · 13/08/2022 06:54

Who would you report them to?

The water supplier. I reckon they'd just send a letter to start!

Big difference between people putting others at risk during a pandemic, and people hosing the garden during a hosepipe ban.

I'm saying 28 a day judging by the ones we've already had!

Mindymomo · 13/08/2022 07:08

Over the last month, DH takes our dog out early am (dog is a border collie). When they get back DH waters back and front garden, just flowers, not lawn. But dear dog, now has this in his routine and when my DH doesn’t go out straight away, dog will bark at the door. He’s going to think my DH is crazy using watering cans, when a hose is so much easier.

Yes these kind of posts I bet about 16.

The ones about reporting? Hmm.. 26.

And people having BBQs judging by another thread. We're having a BBQ later, shoot me now.

“Our NDN was using his hose for 7.5 minutes today. AIBU to call the police or council? We NEVER use the hose; only ever water the plants from the tap and also our flowers cheer me up as I have anxiety so they do need watering, but he doesn’t have anxiety and gives me mean looks sometimes. If I ask him he will just make some excuse about his livestock needing water to survive.”

50% of replies “call 101 for advice” “it’s one rule for them and one for the rest of us” “Tory scum” “he’s probably abusive” “maybe he has SN”

bellac11 · 13/08/2022 09:29

We'll still be using a hose, we both have conditions which mean we cant hold a watering can effectively

We're also hopefully going to sort out water butts although we dont think we have space, but we would attach a hose to those as well.

How shocking

Giraffesandbottoms · 13/08/2022 09:43

this is going to be the “I have a condition that means I can’t wear a mask” of the hosepipe ban

What if they use a hosepipe to put out the BBQ fire?!

This is basically a very succinct summary of what Mumsnet is!

hedgehogger1 · 13/08/2022 10:12

Maybe we should be asking Mumsnet for a separate board for it before it takes over :P

that’s a 999 call AND NC combined

They were talking about this on The Last Leg last night. You will be fine as disabled people are exempt from the ban.

GreenLunchBox · 13/08/2022 11:42

Suzi888 · 13/08/2022 06:54

Who would you report them to?

And what would the people you report them to do? Nothing, I'd wager

Stuffin · 13/08/2022 11:47

There are a lot of exemptions to the hose pipe ban (quite right as well) but I suspect that won't get in the way of the nosey neighbours.

I fear mumsnet will need a separate section for the frothing so we can easily ignore them.
