To be freaked out about manifestation

joggiegrey · 09/08/2022 16:00

Exactly as title says. 3 days ago, I was discussing someone I've not been on good terms with for a year or so.

An hour ago, they just attempted to follow me on social media. We have no mutuals. So no way we have any connection.

This happened to me last year with someone I knew 5 years ago and hadn't spoke to, and 10 mins later they texted me.

This terrifies me because what if my thoughts do manifest? And it's that law of attraction bollocks? I get so many negative thoughts, I really don't want it to happen

🙄

rotfl

Beamur · 09/08/2022 16:12

It really is just co-incidence.
Manifestation is nonsense.

This is it in a nutshell ^

This does actually work. I was skeptic but it’s worked time and again for me both positive and negative. Can’t give examples as identifying but I do believe in it.

FourTeaFallOut · 09/08/2022 16:14

When I was six I was convinced I could make it rain. Fortunately, like most kids, I grew out of that megalomania.

pictish · 09/08/2022 16:14

It’s just a coincidence.

10HailMarys · 09/08/2022 16:14

This does actually work.

It doesn't.

OP, your thoughts are not manifesting. Don't worry.

DaphneSprucesPippasClack · 09/08/2022 16:15

I have some magic beans!

JaneJeffer · 09/08/2022 16:16

Block them by using your mind then.

Hyvsvaar · 09/08/2022 16:16

I don’t know I was sending my sympathies to a friend who’s dog (same breed) had passed away and my dog, less than 2 had to be PTS with the same condition 3 days later

knittingaddict · 09/08/2022 16:18

It's a coincidence. I guarantee it.

Laiste · 09/08/2022 16:18

@FourTeaFallOut
I thought i could make the wind blow 😅

FourTeaFallOut · 09/08/2022 16:22

With our manifesting powers combined we could userp Storm on X-Men!

joggiegrey · 09/08/2022 16:23

I know I sound irrational, but the 5 year one for example - I didn't have this person's number, I was getting my eyebrows done (😂) and I had my eyes closed on the little bed thing. 10 mins before we finished up, I thought of him, and when I got on my phone after my appointment he had texted me roughly 10 mins prior after 5 years of no contact!! it was so bizarre and really freaky.

Tell me it's the school holidays without actually telling me it's the school holidays...

FourTeaFallOut · 09/08/2022 16:27

Irrational is one thing but thinking you can control life events with the power of your mind is a bit self important at best or the pernicious kernel of an idea that will unravel your mental health at worst.

CreateIn · 09/08/2022 16:31

It doesn't exist and it's coincidence! But I know what you mean.

I started a new job a year ago. I really found it hard working with 5 particular individuals, (I work alongside 43!) and often thought how much better the job would be without them.

One by one, for different reasons, none of them work there anymore....

Must admit, it made me think!

Testina · 09/08/2022 16:33

Aye. And how many times have you thought of something or someone and it not happening.
I’m now manifesting finding £20 on my walk home. Will update 🤣

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 09/08/2022 16:34

Actually I have had a few things happen that were strange. I just thought they were really weird coincidences

Thelnebriati · 09/08/2022 16:35

If you'd heard of synchronicity first, you wouldn't be concerned about manifestation.

I would love if I could do this at my work! Or life in general!

Testina · 09/08/2022 16:37

@CreateIn there’s a horror film plot in that somewhere 🤣

I’d say you’ve got a mix there. Coincidence. Possibly not noticing others who have left because they don’t register with you - none of the others? But very likely, people that are hard work for you are hard work for others. So don’t develop the same enjoyment or loyalty to a job, or see the same opportunities because the managers also dislike them, or are the type to take offence at slight things. Underlying characteristics that drive both your feelings about them and their tendency towards fast turnover. I see it in my cousin’s tales of the shop where she works. Arsey types, who make others miserable then move on at some imagined slight.

MarshaMelrose · 09/08/2022 16:38

I bet there have been times when you've thought of friends from the past and they've never contacted you but you don't remember those. You only remember the times when they did. One of MN favourite sayings is trust your gut, it's never wrong. But that is so untrue. Lots of time people will think things that ultimately turn out to be rubbish, but they never remember those, they just remember when their gut led them to a decision which turned out to be a good one.
That's why we're so bad at judging risk because we are so selective with our memories.
