AIBU?

Beach towel wankers

Am sure this has been done on here before. Am in France on a lovely campsite. There are a particular group of Brits that go up the pool every morning, put their bloody stuff on about 10 loungers and then periodically pop up maybe twice in the day. I was there for a few hours today & saw people sitting on the floor as these loungers had stuff on them but no people. It’s so fucking ignorant and selfish and it’s giving me the rage. Said people are noisy, playing loud music too and are a bunch of rude inconsiderate wankers.

aibu to complain to reception? Am so tempted to do it anonymously - they do it every day. Today they were also playing really loud rave music by their caravans because everyone on the campsite needs to hear it.

I'd just move all their belongings off and sit myself down.

Move the stuff. When they come back deny all knowledge and say they were empty when you got there, but the lifeguards do collect abandoned towels and put them in a pile. (Point to the pile you put the stuff in). Glasses on shrug and back to sunning yourself. I have done this multiple times.

This. Just throw their stuff on the floor and sit there. Problem solved.

I did that once and got completely abused verbally by one of the non-occupants

I would also remove their towels and have done this in resorts before. There was a thread on here last year about the staff in one resort removing the towels from empty beds to Benny Hill type music. I'd love to see that.

Talk to Reception.

I have been to places where they say if loungers are not used for half an hour, they will be freed up for other users. Staff put their stuff in a box.

People are so stupid. If they didn’t do this, and everyone just used beds when they wanted them there would be no problem.

Do the resort have a no towel policy or are they allowed to save a space?

If it’s not against the resorts policy then they haven’t done anything wrong. There’s no point complaining as I’m sure if they thought it was a problem they would enforce removal of the towels.

I absolutely loathe people who not only reserve sun beds, but reserve far more than they need and don’t then occupy them.

I have just got back from a resort - I’d say at any time sunbed occupancy was 25% the only thing that created a shortage of sun beds was reserving them. I frequently used reserved sun beds - I was chasing the shade with a baby and wasn’t moved on once.

Are you currently staying on a campsite in France?

I too would remove the towels and sit on the loungers if the people were clearly not at the pool.

Stayed at a H10 hotel in Spain and if towels were left on loungers for 20 minutes with a no show then the life guard removed them 👍🏼

Not really sure what’s that got to do with anything.

It’s a campsite and not a resort but I still feel like reporting them! There is no life guard but there are people about the site & the staff are lovely. It’s really making me ragey- it’s the entitlement I think

I just used the word resort.

As it’s still clearly a camping resort. I don’t think my choice of words really matter to be honest.

Im sure you will make the staffs day by complaining about something that doesn’t effect you. Just chill out, you are on holiday.

and for the record, no I don’t save sunbeds as I don’t spend time at the pool. I prefer the beach. I just don’t think it’s a big deal if people save loungers.

I'd bring it to their attention yes, it's not fair on the guests who actually want to use the beds but if theyre not saying anything about the loud music I wouldn't hold out much hope

I once saw a full on row in Cyprus when someone moved towels off sunbeds and used the beds. But I've been very tempted to do this myself in the past. I think the only time it's acceptable to leave beds reserved is if you're going off for lunch and coming straight back.

I’m shameless. If I go down there in the morning and there’s no bum on the sun lounger then I move it and sit down. Had an angry Spanish woman yell at me that I’d stolen ‘her’ seat once. I’d been there for THREE hours!!! Tough shit and I refused to move. I wouldn’t move a towel if someone was off swimming though, even if they were an hour (still annoying though) After all, people need somewhere to leave their stuff.

@BalloonsAndWhistles yea these wankers are clearly only there for maybe 2 hours of the day & then go back to their caravans and play rave music. I think I hate them - it’s quite unhealthy 😂 You genuinely don’t see any Dutch or French doing it - it’s embarrassing! Mind you- not do any of the other Brits- it’s just this lot!

😃
If you don't spend time around the pool what is the point of replying with your opinion?
Bloody weird

Yabu to not have moved the stuff.

Meh I’d just move them and sit down. If i already had a lounger then I’d mind my business.

Complain to reception about the noise. In my experience of French campsites, they are generally pretty keen on keeping excess noise down.

We have been ticked off at 10.30pm for talking too loudly in our awning so loud music would not have been tolerated.

I really hate this sort of behaviour YANBU. I’ve been to some lovely all inclusive places where the holiday was ruined by having to get up at 6 to stand any chance whatsoever of getting a sun bed.
