Beach towel wankers

Am sure this has been done on here before. Am in France on a lovely campsite. There are a particular group of Brits that go up the pool every morning, put their bloody stuff on about 10 loungers and then periodically pop up maybe twice in the day. I was there for a few hours today & saw people sitting on the floor as these loungers had stuff on them but no people. It’s so fucking ignorant and selfish and it’s giving me the rage. Said people are noisy, playing loud music too and are a bunch of rude inconsiderate wankers.

aibu to complain to reception? Am so tempted to do it anonymously - they do it every day. Today they were also playing really loud rave music by their caravans because everyone on the campsite needs to hear it.

Are you SURE they’re not German?!!!??

Sorry OP, I agree with you.

saleorbouy · 01/08/2022 21:37

Just neatly roll up the towel and use the sunbed.
If they complain tell them you have been there for X hours without them turning up so you thought you'd make use of them.
I'm sure many others are equally peaved with their inconsiderate behaviour and might join you in a group removal.

I have removed towels before when they have been left for extended periods.

PaniDomu · 01/08/2022 21:43

My aunt used to throw the towels in the pool on the way to breakfast if she saw reserved sunloungers.

StoneofDestiny · 01/08/2022 21:46

Remove their stuff and shift the lounger to a different position.

Zeus44 · 01/08/2022 21:47

Go to a better campsite.

Go to a better campsite.

How very helpful 🙄

TokyoTen · 01/08/2022 21:55

I hear you OP they are ridiculous and utterly CFs. Talk to reception. We stayed somewhere at xmas/NY where stuff was moved it left longer than 30 mins. Worked a dream.

I really hate this sort of behaviour YANBU. I’ve been to some lovely all inclusive places where the holiday was ruined by having to get up at 6 to stand any chance whatsoever of getting a sun bed.

If I see reference to sunbed reserving at a hotel on TA, I move on. I stayed in one of those places previously, never again.

That is great advice and I will be following it in the future!

LimboLass · 01/08/2022 22:04

I'd just move all their belongings off and sit myself down

This.

It helps to look a bit of a mental case when they return. Hubby plays this one a treat.

LimboLass · 01/08/2022 22:06

OR move the towells AND the sunbed. Then they cannot ever know which one was theirs.

Ooh now that is crafty!

gogohmm · 01/08/2022 22:08

I prefer the sites with an attendant, they don't stand for this, after an hour towels are removed

Loginmystery · 01/08/2022 22:08

userxx · 01/08/2022 20:20

I'd just move all their belongings off and sit myself down.

Me too. Straight away. Wouldn’t think twice. Put it all in a corner and use the sun beds. Then when they are loud go over and say hush your gums.

whirlyswirly · 01/08/2022 22:11

@LimboLass that is bloody genius. 🤣

LimboLass · 01/08/2022 22:12

@whirlyswirly

Not just a hat rack my friend.

beechie12 · 01/08/2022 22:17

I would move them then shrug if they ask. Esp if it's just a towel with no other belongings eg sandals. Unless they claim they are swimming with their shoes on.

bestbefore · 01/08/2022 22:19

Def you have to move the beds as well, they come back all confused!! Wink

LondonLovie · 01/08/2022 22:26

Move the sun beds from the spots completely, and lay the towels on the floor where the sun bed where. They will have no idea which were the ones they reserved and it'll be like the beds vanished into thin air. Blow their minds.

LesLavandes · 01/08/2022 20:24

I did that once and got completely abused verbally by one of the non-occupants

I’ll go one better - I sat down on a totally empty lounger in a water park on holiday. Only empty lounger in the area.

Got verbally abused for sitting there! Apparently I should have known the empty lounger was taken because it was next to a table and other loungers which had stuff (no people) on.

This same family later proceeded to occupy some “better” loungers that came free in the front row… whilst leaving their stuff all over the ones they’d told me off for sitting next to.

Twats.

I just used the word resort.

As it’s still clearly a camping resort. I don’t think my choice of words really matter to be honest.

Im sure you will make the staffs day by complaining about something that doesn’t effect you. Just chill out, you are on holiday.

and for the record, no I don’t save sunbeds as I don’t spend time at the pool. I prefer the beach. I just don’t think it’s a big deal if people save loungers.

@Becky6758 you are exactly the sort of person I love taking sunbeds off. Then lie there and watch them come back to claim their bed after 5 hours in town/shopping/sightseeing 😂😂😂

nex18 · 01/08/2022 22:59

Omg, I’m in the canaries now, it’s driving me crazy, I’ve been sitting on my balcony having breakfast cursing under my breath at them. They’re not just English, the Spanish and maybe German like to indulge also. There’s never a shortage of sun beds as everyone is there at different times. I moved the whole beds at about 11 the other day and put unreserved ones in the space and sat down (under a parasol outside our apartment), at around 3, they came and collected their towels 😡
