Grim gym changing room behaviour

HandbagsnGladrags · 29/07/2022 14:15

Came out of pool this morning to get my stuff for my shower and a woman was cutting her toenails on the bench where people put their stuff. She had a towel down but still 🤮 Am I right that this is completely grim? She also had her arse stuck out right in front of the locker I was trying to get to and made no move whatsoever to let me through when it was clear I was trying to get to my locker.

Did you use your words and ask her to move?

VapeVamp12 · 29/07/2022 14:19

The arse near locker would annoy me more than toenails

SavoirFlair · 29/07/2022 14:20

What did she say when you asked her excuse me?

HandbagsnGladrags · 29/07/2022 14:23

I think I was too flabbergasted by the toenail clippings flying everywhere to ask her to move.

Ewww. What on earth possessed her to think that was remotely ok? When I go swimming, I keep my flip flops on from changing room to pool and back to showers. Imagine walking on her clippings.

TempName01 · 29/07/2022 14:29

YABU because you’ve been swimming in a pool with people’s toenails, dead skin and bodily fluids so I don’t see someone cutting their nails as that bad sorry!

JunieBabes · 29/07/2022 14:29

Every gym has a token member that thinks they own the place and that acts in a territorial way doing things that most people do in their own homes. Sounds like this is the token member from your gym!

'If a personal grooming task produces human debris, don't do it in shared spaces' would be my rule of thumb. No shaving, nail-clipping, foot-filing etc in communal showers or changing areas.

I know that on a recent thread, though, lots of people argued that it's OK to shave legs/pits in communal showers at gyms and pools. Personally, I think that's weird, but I may be an outlier.

I agree with you in not thinking it appropriate to shave in public showers. WTAF 🙀

justamushypea · 29/07/2022 14:33

I saw someone shaving their legs and pits in a gym shower once. Really gave me the ick.

People are vile sometimes.

ByeByeBeebies · 29/07/2022 14:33

In the communal showers a man was cleaning his teeth! An attendant did tell him that it wasn’t hygienic for other members.

Mississipi71 · 29/07/2022 14:36

Brushing teeth, clipping toenails and shaving in changing rooms! Just no.

SierraSapphire · 29/07/2022 14:47

Women sitting on the benches with no knickers on annoys me!

QuebecBagnet · 29/07/2022 14:49

I’ve seen grim behaviour. Shaving legs in the sauna, dying hair in the communal showers, wanking in the jacuzzi. In David Lloyd as well! 🙈😂

Hotenoughtoburnasausage · 29/07/2022 14:50

I didn't renew my membership after seeing a woman drying her muff at the hairdryer bar...

Wanking in the jacuzzi? Seriously?!

Yuck! I agree, it is revolting. In my gym they have signs everywhere in the changing rooms - no shaving, nail cutting, hair dyeing, eating (eating!!! Who would want to eat in a stinky changing room?). I have seen people eating a sandwich, naked, with their bare arse on the bench (no towel). That is absolutely disgusting to me!

Don't get me started on the ones who are naked and bending over in front of me to dry or moisturise their feet and legs...no I do not wish to gave a face full of arse thanks. I always move away from these people.

Aaah the gym, so many disgusting stories to tell, haha!

Scalottia · 29/07/2022 14:55

Have, not gave, sorry

I hate this too. Patronising and unneccesary.

IglesiasPiggl · 29/07/2022 14:58

YANBU about the toenails. I think people should avoid doing personal ablutions like clipping and shaving in public changing rooms. However I think YABU re the nakedness - it's a changing room after all. Whilst you might have thought it obvious you wanted to get to the locker, it might not have been as noticeable as you imagined. Just say excuse me and I'm sure she would have moved.

ChaToilLeam · 29/07/2022 14:58

This is one of the many reasons why I hate communal changing. Please, give me a cubicle, else I’m just going to stay manky and have my shower at home.

Feckingfeck · 29/07/2022 15:02

At the pool once and a lady started to use a pedegg!!! Dead skin flakings where flying everywhere 🤮🤮

Had to tel her to stop it was just grim!!!

Not so sure about that.

The OP is all ‘eww’ but didn’t actually bother to say anything to the other person. So presumably, toe nail lady won’t think twice about doing it next time?

Sounds like OP needs telling to have a direct conversation with the person concerned, rather than whinge about it anonymously online afterwards. 😂
