Well done!

I finally cancelled my direct debit for a phone contract. The phone stopped working about 6 months ago.

Paintsplat · 27/07/2022 14:11

Using calendar reminders on my phone for things - when car tax is due, when to use the flea treatment on the pets, time of year to plant bulbs in the garden, when to buy and send a birthday present. Some things that I should get reminders of, but having then in my phone means I'm less worried about keeping it in my head. And some things so I don't constantly think - Ah! Should have done that last month!

justsaythanks · 27/07/2022 14:47

Loving this and hoping to get more tips for easy wins that are likely second nature to a lot of people. Anyone organised will do this stuff but as suspected ADHD person I really struggle to organise my thoughts

Did a huge declutter of ds toys, all our clothing. Also sorted out the calender for the next few months.

coodawoodashooda · 27/07/2022 14:52

Decluttering ruthlessly. Spending money on glass containers for batch cooking.

Lemonyfuckit · 27/07/2022 14:56

DH and I have a shared 'note' on our phones for the weekly meal plan and a regular Sat am Ocado delivery - so every Fri before the afternoon cut off we do the meal plan and finalise the shop, then that's it sorted for the coming week.

PJ04JCW · 27/07/2022 15:00

Started decluttering DS11 bedroom this week with the bribe of a big boy desk and reading armchair. We have a bin bag of rubbish, a big box full for charity shop and lots of paper recycling.

Thelnebriati · 27/07/2022 15:04

My win today is scrubbing out the minging washing machine drawer.

germsandcoffee · 27/07/2022 15:10

Donated 3 bin liners of clothes to the charity shop. Probably got at least another 3 to donate once sorted.
I'm finally getting rid of all my fat clothes so I stick to my healthy eating 🤣

mrsjackrussell · 27/07/2022 15:13

Recently I got a bullet journal app. It's very simple and makes me get things done.

Cyclingforcake · 27/07/2022 15:14

I paid for the council garden waste scheme. If I’d done it in April it would have cheaper but at least I won’t have overflowing bins anymore.

Echobelly · 27/07/2022 15:16

We've used our whiteboard wall to write up where we/the kids will be/what they'll be doing on each week during the holiday so that DH has a clue what's going on every week and it's not just me remembering everything.

DS starting secondary school and there's loads of stationery they specify so I have ordered almost all of it online this week so I don't have to run about getting bits later on (as I did with his older sibling!)

Mosaic123 · 27/07/2022 15:19
  1. Acted on Martin Lewis' advice and changed my monthly Amazon Prime payment to an annual one. It's about to go up by a £1 a month but now I've switched to annual it will stay at the current lower rate for another year and annual is cheaper than monthly anyway. I didn't realise.

I also have switched to Ocado from Waitrose as Waitrose are giving me too many substitutions and too many unavailable items in my orders recently.

Ocado gave me a nice big introductory discount £20 off £60) so let's see how it goes.

Disneyblueeyes · 27/07/2022 15:24

Scheduling time for 'life admin' on my day off. I have a checklist on my phone with things like 'birthdays', 'payments', 'holiday prep', 'cars' things like that so I never miss a birthday, or booking an MOT, or pay nursery or whatever as I look at this list every week and think about what's coming up that I need to sort.

I find it I set a reminder for stuff it pops up when I'm at work or whatever and if I swipe it off by accident, I then forget about it.

Disneyblueeyes · 27/07/2022 15:24

This way I actually remind myself during the time I have to actually do it, so I gets done instantly.

EllenWaiteourkid · 27/07/2022 15:26

Sorted my card box into two boxes and put a decent system in place, this was no small win as I have a card habit and I am unable to go into the Cancer research shops, or walk past the card section in M&S without buying card.

How many thank you cards and sympathy cards does one girl need. Grin

Which one? I like the idea of bullet journaling.

Xiaoxiong · 27/07/2022 16:50

Cleaned the filter in my little Dyson
Sewed up a hole in my jumper
Returned a dress to Sainsburys that didn't suit me once I got it home
Went for my first run in years
Filled the recycling basket with old magazines and scrap paper and actually took it out to the wheelie bin

EllenWaiteourkid · 27/07/2022 17:17

Oooh Dyson....now there is a thought.

I am also going to take the basket of out of date Waitrose mags out the recycling right now.

The fun never stops around here. Grin

ToadiesCouzin · 27/07/2022 17:23

I actually exercised as soon as I woke up today. It was something I did for a good six months a while ago, but I've got out of the habit. Made me feel v productive so got a few other jobs done.

Clarinet1 · 27/07/2022 17:24

Made my bed!

Chidjireta · 27/07/2022 17:25

Thankyou @Mosaic123 for that!
I didn’t realise Amazon Prime was cheaper annually either. I always love these threads someone, somewhere will always have a useful nugget of information to share.
Also @Disneyblueeyes for suggesting time to schedule in life admin on days off. Thats another great idea.

upthem5 · 27/07/2022 17:28

I cancelled English Heritage.

I joined the local swimming pool membership. Unlimited swimming! I’m hoping it’ll help my joints and my weight. And most importantly - my mental health

catfunk · 27/07/2022 17:33

Who gives a crap loo roll (never run out now) and set up hair dye for my roots on Amazon subscribe and save.

TheBikiniExpert · 27/07/2022 17:34

Set my alarm to go for a run at 6am instead of waking up at 8am and moaning that it is too hot. Sorted out some clothes for recycling. Now I just havecto take them downstairs to the bin which is literally just outside my front door.
