Going to a festival tomorrow . Searched out the e mail with the tickets on my phone . Found it. Tried to move it to my in box and now it’s gone .

I’ve searched for it again, every possible way. But cannot find it . I can find other tickets bought at the same time so I know my searches as working but this one BLOODY IMPORTANT e mail has vanished.

any ideas what I did ? ( posting in AIBU for traffic)

I’m rubbish with tech when it doesn’t work .

Also check the archive folder if you haven't already. Those don't appear in searches either

Footgoose · 22/07/2022 09:01

Some of the things you are saying, I literally have no idea about . Sorry, I don’t use tech in my job , not familiar with e mail other than sending and receiving for non work stuff . When tech doesn’t work for me I’m literally clueless .
ive literally have done every search I can think of. Including looking for e mails with a pdf .
maybe I should just ban myself from tech .

The recovery folder can be seen when you ton into the deleted items folder. Then in the top left of the main screen, it shows the words 'recovery folder'. NOTE - this comes up when you use a PC to access the outlook.com website. It does not show when you use an iPhone to access the same site - this uses a more user/friendly view and it doesn't appear as an option. I've just rechecked and it's def there.

If the rickets were sent by a PDF attachments you must have downloaded it to take a screenshots, might you filethe pdf in our downloads

IcedOatLatte · 22/07/2022 09:10

Also if you screenshot the original pdf tickets the reader at the venue isn't goig to know it's a ss as long as you have the barcode/QR code

Agapornis · 22/07/2022 09:10

I don't have any advice on how to find the email (though normally if you call customer services they're happy to email them again), but to improve your confidence could you do a basic computer skills course? The local council often run them for free. It'll make life a lot less stressful!

scubad · 22/07/2022 09:15

Just wanted to add youre not going crazy because the same thing happened to me. I was using an outlook email on the Gmail app on my android.

Was the email in spam and you marked it as not spam so it should have gone to inbox but instead it disappeared off the face of the earth? Yep that's what happened to me. I had to email the sender and ask them to resend the email. It must be a bug. I thought I was going crazy. There's no way to retrieve it either I don't think.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 22/07/2022 09:19

Just find the other email folders (usually on the left on a web browser, or if on the Outlook app you need to click the button top left to reveal the other folders) and systematically go through them.

Undecidedandtorn · 22/07/2022 09:20

I nearly always use screen shot tickets as my e-mails always take forever to load up on my phone and never had a problem just showing them.

MomwasCasual · 22/07/2022 09:21

Have a look in the Files app on your iPhone.

AlisonDonut · 22/07/2022 09:26

I agree if you opened the pdf it will be on your downloads or files or documents folder on your phone. It will have saved a copy somewhere. It has to to open it.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 22/07/2022 09:32

If you're on a Samsung phone, it probably downloaded a copy to your Google Drive to view the pdf, so take a look on the Downloads folder in your Drive.

DatingDickheads · 22/07/2022 09:33

Do you have the outlook app on your phone? If not download it and start the search there. Not the mail app that's rubbish it has to be the outlook app.

Or Call the ticket seller and ask them to resend.

VenusStarr · 22/07/2022 09:37

Did you create an account from the ticket seller? I had similar with some theatre tickets that were rescaled twice due to covid and my tickets were available on the booking app.

If you've got screenshot of the tickets, that should be OK too 🙂

rainrelief · 22/07/2022 09:38

If you have a photo/screenshot of the QR code you should be fine. I’ve got into things using that.

KateMcCallister · 22/07/2022 10:33

A ss would be fine, it's just the QR code they need. I always do this as 4G/5G tends to become really slow at events with loads of people.

If you don't find the original pdf anywhere

doradoo · 22/07/2022 10:39

Are the tickets in your wallet on the iPhone?

bare · 22/07/2022 10:54

Or in the calendar on the date of the event?

Thatswhyimacat · 22/07/2022 11:00

I always accidentally archive emails - that would be my first guess for outlook.

I do think a screenshot would be fine - so long as you have the barcode to scan. Does the screenshotted ticket have your name on? I use screenshots for loads of things as I can never find emails.

moonlight1705 · 22/07/2022 11:06

Which festival are you doing? It might be worth ringing them if there is a phone number anywhere. I work for a classical music festival and we always get people who have lost their emails and it'll be on their customer record.

LunaAndHerMoonDragons · 22/07/2022 11:14

MomwasCasual · 22/07/2022 09:21

Have a look in the Files app on your iPhone.

This, but you're likely to have to work you way through and open everything. Often the download won't be named anything recognisable. It's often some combination of letters and numbers that tells you nothing.

Jules912 · 22/07/2022 11:23

Do you have an All mail folder on your iPhone? I sometimes manage to move stuff from my inbox to there ( no idea how) and they don't seem to be in any other folder.

Onthegrid · 22/07/2022 11:24

On your iphone are you using the inbuilt email app?
If so depending on your settings each folder could take a while to load.

Delatron · 22/07/2022 11:31

I honestly think the screenshot will be fine and well done for doing that!

This happened to me recently- not tickets but an important invoice. Just disappeared. It’s bizarre when you there’s two steps to delete things. They go in the bin then you access the bin and delete that. So not easy to do by accident.

My husband had some festival tickets in a deleted work email account. He just went to the customer info at the actual festival and it was fine.

Summersdreaming · 22/07/2022 11:42

Don't panic. If you have a good clear screenshot you are fine. You are unlikely to have signal in the festival queue so the standard advice is to screenshot anyway.
