Lost an e mail when it was right in front of me. Help!

Going to a festival tomorrow . Searched out the e mail with the tickets on my phone . Found it. Tried to move it to my in box and now it’s gone .

I’ve searched for it again, every possible way. But cannot find it . I can find other tickets bought at the same time so I know my searches as working but this one BLOODY IMPORTANT e mail has vanished.

any ideas what I did ? ( posting in AIBU for traffic)

I’m rubbish with tech when it doesn’t work .

Don’t have any bright ideas, but offering some solidarity! Things like this just flummox me, and make me feel quite panicky. Hopefully the calm advice on here will come up trumps.

In the deleted folder?

This has happened to me before. It's quite bonkers.

Exit the app.

Go back in.

Open up your deleted items folder. It might be there 🤞

Also, if you bought several tickets at the same time, could those emails all be bunched up together in one "chain" so to speak? This happens on my iPhone and Mac when I have a string of emails and replies between the same recipient and myself.

Did you accidentally press reply or forward? Sometimes the email is in pending/ drafts or scooched down at the bottom of the screen where you can barely see it.

I’ve gone in to outlook.com , searched for it there . Same 3 other associated e mails come up . But not the one I need.

out of interest , I searched a completely different theme and every e mail I’ve ever sent or received in the last few years all came up ! I literally do not know how to delete an e mail forever. APART FROM THIS ONE .

I still can’t find the “other box “ … my e mail just doesn’t look like that .

On an iPhone for outlook if you delete an email it goes to the deleted folder unless you have the settings set to "delete immediately" - in which case it goes to a 'recovery folder'. This folder isn't visible on the iPhone app but is visible if you log into outlook via the web. If you go into the deleted folder on the web, there is a blue line of text at the top (pointing to a recovery folder) where all of the items that have been deleted from the 'deleted items folder' go - it's called the recovery folder. It might be in there. If it doesn't show up in any search query, it should show up in one of the folders just by scrolling up and down and looking for the approx date. It does happen however that groups of items vanish from outlook where there has been an issue at a specific time with the servers. Rarely but not impossible. Logging into the web outlook site usually finds most emails. Good luck!

This might sound like a daft idea, but have you looked in 'drafts'? I once managed to start a reply to an email by mistake, and I found the email in my drafts folder after ten minutes of panic.

I have the date it came so can pin point exactly where it should be in deleted etc , not showing .
it’s not tagged on to the other e mails .

I can’t find recovery in outlook.com but I’ll look again .

Can you ring customer services and give them the reference number and ask them to resend the tickets?

If its in the deleted folder it won't appear in a search. Have you checked the deleted folder?

All I have at the top of my screen when I go to outlook.com that I can touch is the search looking glass and an up side down pyramid of little lines . The Pyramid gives me an menu , cannot find recovery anywhere.
im about ready to cry . Im so frustrated .

I do find with Outlook that if you’ve lost an email, it usually ends up saved in Drafts.

I don’t have a folder called deleted . I do have a bin . It’s not in there .

Surely emails can't just disappear, can you log in on a comuter with someone else to help you search

Work through each of your folders methodically

You're definitely logged in to the right email account?

Look in deleted again, swipe downwards in the screen to refresh in case Its not showing you the latest view

I would check on a laptop as well.

On mobile it may be set to show only your last 3 month's worth of emails hence it's no longer appearing.

I really do appreciate all suggestions .
I’ve done all the above , looked through all folders, dates go way back to 2020 . Got my husband to look. It’s literally vanished .
I am crying now .

When you search, it should say if you're searching this folder, this im mailbox, or something else. It won't include deleted items or junk, and it might not include sent.

Try to change the filters on that (post screenshots if you're not sure) otherwise scroll those folders for the date you received it, not today.

Try searching "pdf" so it brings back any email with pdf attachments
