To ask people to please not quote post the OP?

Especially when it’s one that is multiple paragraphs. It goes as standard that you’re replying to the OP and it makes threads so painful to follow.

If people need to do quote posts can’t they just select the particular sentence or two that they’re querying/ responding to?

OP posts:

Yes it is annoying when people do it. To be fair I don’t see it an awful lot though?

No.

PurpleDaisies · 17/07/2022 22:22

I mainly see this on long threads where it’s quite useful to see a poster highlight they’re responding to the first one.

Oh okay.

Ninahhh · 17/07/2022 22:23

I knew your first few posts would be hilarious, witty posters quoting your OP, but I agree, fwiw.

FlibbertyGiblets · 17/07/2022 22:24

Oh bugger hoisted on my own petard, wrong post quoted, tee hee at me! Please feel free to point and laugh. Grin

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 17/07/2022 22:27

Every time this thread is started posters think they are being witty or orignal to do exactly what the OP is complaining about

It was old the first time, boring on the 56th thread on the same subject

I agree that ik tedious on a phone to have to scroll past the OP numerous times.

TeapotTitties · 17/07/2022 22:28

It's mildly annoying but the onus is on you to learn to live with it, because only a small percentage of MNetters will see this thread and most of them won't remember it in a couple of days, and anyone else isn't really going to think "Oh, I must stop doing that because ShrillSiren22 finds it annoying 🤷

AlwaysLatte · 17/07/2022 22:29

I agree, I also that annoying and unnecessary.

AlwaysLatte · 17/07/2022 22:29

*find

Antigonads · 17/07/2022 22:29

Boils my piss.

Well, that may be an over reaction but …

Forestgate · 17/07/2022 22:30

I agree. Don't know why mumsnet changed it so you have to quote paragraphs and paragraphs, rather than just the latest post you were responding to. Really annoying

StrangeCondition · 17/07/2022 22:31

I agree OP

No, I don’t see it much either.

What do you mean? The “paragraphs and paragraphs” are the “latest post”. They changed it recently so you just see the latest post instead of the whole quote history.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 17/07/2022 22:37

It is a bit annoying, especially if the OP is long.

I have posted a long post a few times, and someone has responded to me straight away, and they quote my ENTIRE post, even though it was the one directly before theirs. WTF?! Confused

So my LONG post is there written by me, then it's quoted by them immediately. (Well, within 2-3 minutes,) Fucking ridiculous.

I could understand it (almost) if the ability to delete posts was on here (so people 'quote' a poster's post in case they delete it,) but you can't delete a post on here, so why do people do it?! Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 17/07/2022 22:37

Doesn't bother me, and as a PP said I don't see it that much anyway.

I like to read it again😚

Someone tried this request a couple of months ago... Went pretty much the same way this is going 🙄😂
I agree though, some threads are just taken up by scrolling through quotes and the occasional one word comment now. Madness

It's done every month!

premiumwine · 17/07/2022 22:42

I hate when people quote a giant OP just to say “yabu”

literally brings nothing to the thread aside from endless scrolling

Badger1970 · 17/07/2022 22:44

Just tag the person you're replying to. Simples. And no scrolling down and down pages of repeated crap.

Not sure it's an enhancement at all..............

UrsulaPandress · 17/07/2022 22:46

How many jeffing times?
