To not want their car on my driveway?

I live in a city in a ground floor flat, no garden but I have a driveway that comes with my flat.

I don't have a car so this Is why I don't know if I'm being unreasonable..

My doorway / driveway gets alot of direct sun so I like to dry my washing out there on racks when the weather is nice. I also like to sit out there on a chair with a cold drink and a book sometimes.

A few months ago a family moved into the flat above me and have taken to parking their big people carrier on my drive. They didn't ask my permission, just assumed they were entitled to because I don't have a car.

My frustration is when their car is there I can't put my washing out, it also blocks alot of the sun. They park it diagonally aswell which is a PITA for me getting my pram in and out.

They are out there at the minute cleaning and hoovering the car about 3ft away from my doorstep so I can't sit out and enjoy the sun / a bit of peace and quiet.

AIBU to be unhappy about them using my drive in this way? The poll results will determine what, if anything, I say to them.

It's yours, not theirs, so they aren't entitled to use it. The fact that you don't have a car is irrelevant.

But you do need to actually speak to them and tell them to stop using your space.

The thread is 6 weeks old and 15 pages long, it's moved on quite a bit since the original post 😂

Bloody hell! Why didn't OP think of this three weeks ago... You're a bone fide genius.

I suggest reading glasses would be handier than green fingers.

Oh so you can read the OP's posts then?

If you can spare the whole twenty seconds it takes to click on 'See all' of the OP, you could see the one that says she doesn't know which flat they live in, the one that says they dont speak English and then the one that says she's left them a note. Finally, treat yourself to the one that says:

I'm pleased to report that my driveway is still car free and I've been making full use of it, rain aside.

Parkingmoan1 · 01/09/2022 14:52

😂

Yep, still car free!

Good to hear!

RiftGibbon · 01/09/2022 15:30

Been following this and good to hear that the note worked. I wonder if they have just assumed that the parking was available and you were being difficult. I'm not suggesting you were, but it sounds like a genuine error.

Zvifflemeyer · 02/09/2022 13:04

Not at all unreasonable. It is entirely up to you what your driveway is used for. I would put a few large potted plants and a lounge chair or hammock out there and make it a patio of sorts. It'd be one thing if they were super nice and you offered, but to just presume they can use it even though they aren't paying for it. Nopenopenope.

Gosh, you’re rather irritable this morning.
Hope your Sunday improves. Have a wonderful day 💐

I never know why posters feel the need to tell off others for not reading the thread properly. It's a bit bossy

I never know why posters feel the need to not bother reading at least the posts from the OP. Especially when it’s been made as easy as one click to do so.

Its a bit lazy.
