I was recently in a restaurant and went to the loo. The woman in the next cubicle was obviously having a poo, ( I could hear her clearly). I left the cubicle and went over to the hand basins to wash my hands. The woman who was having a poo came out and headed straight for the door. I instantly noticed that she had the waitress uniform on. I was so disgusted I shouted "excuse me, are you a waitress here?" "yes" she smiled. "You are serving people and you don't" wash your hands!" I said. She just looked at me and walked out! I felt sick.

I wouldn't be visiting that restaurant again!

No we will not be going again but I wonder how many people DO wash their hands!

My friend who works in a local restaurant never washes her hands in the public toilet. Because they must sanitise hygienically with antibacterial before entering the kitchen, handling any food, and touching other surfaces. Perhaps this restaurant isn't as fastidious. Or maybe your rude comment without any justification wasn't worth an answer.

You think that was rude, I would be rude every time if I thought someone was spreading faecal matter on door handles and plates. Perhaps she could open the kitchen door with her mind

Oh fgs. There's always someone here scraping for an excuse. Why can't she wash AND sanitize her hands. And on the way to the kitchen, she touches the handle, someone stops her for something. Utterly disgusting.

@Jalisco How was that a rude comment?

Even if they do use hand sanitiser - the waitress would have get there first

It's disgusting not to wash your hands!

IodineQueen · 15/07/2022 19:19

I had the same experience but with the chef! Absolutely disgusting.

YWNBU. Hopefully it was embarrassing enough for her to wash her hands next time.

Mally100 · 15/07/2022 19:19

And besides someone who is in the habit of hygiene doesn't pick and choose or forget when to do it. I would actually complain to the manager.

LadyKenya · 15/07/2022 19:52

This is one of the reasons I very rarely eat out.

girlmom21 · 15/07/2022 19:54

That's grim. Did you notify someone in charge?

Are you actually kidding?

Sapphirejane · 15/07/2022 19:57

From someone who got Campylobacter from a restaurant, thank you for calling her out on this.

To the poster up thread, has your friend considered washing her hands more than once is not a bad thing. Especially given the door handles she’d touch from the toilet to the kitchen 🤢

Sapphirejane · 15/07/2022 19:59

Soap is much better than hand sanitisers, I thought we all knew this from the last 2 years.

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 15/07/2022 20:02

I think you were right to mention it. It's obviously something she never bothers with. There is no excuse for a member of serving staff not to wash their hands.
I was behind someone leaving a department store loo once who didn't wash her hands. She headed straight for a pile of fluffy towels and started feeling them. Ugh.

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 15/07/2022 20:04

I think I would also mention it to the manager.

Cameronnorrieisabitofalright · 15/07/2022 20:04

My dm used to work as a pot wash in a really posh restaurant.. The male staff pee - d in the back yard and never washed their hands...
Grim.

I was " shamed " once by some woman coming into the toilet area who watched me come out of a cubicle and head for the door

She stood right in front of me and said " excuse me , have you forgotten something? " she then pointed towards a single sink basin

I took great delight in pushing open the toilet doors to show they all had an individual basin and paper towel supply

This was in Miller & Carter , when I got back to the table she was sat right next to us 😩

Sorry she stopped you. However there was no basin in any of the cubicles in the restaurant.

I saw an ice cream van lady do that once. I used to buy from her regularly but stopped after that incident!

Good on you for confronting her and I'd leave a factual google review.

Sorry what? Christ that is vile

AlisonDonut · 15/07/2022 20:20

I'd have that bad review up on the internet before the end of the evening.

RippleQueen · 15/07/2022 20:28

This happened once when we went into a McDonalds at a service station. When I saw the staff member back in the restaurant without washing her hands I challenged her and she just denied it.

CallOnMe · 15/07/2022 20:30

What restaurant was this and where??!!
