I was recently in a restaurant and went to the loo. The woman in the next cubicle was obviously having a poo, ( I could hear her clearly). I left the cubicle and went over to the hand basins to wash my hands. The woman who was having a poo came out and headed straight for the door. I instantly noticed that she had the waitress uniform on. I was so disgusted I shouted "excuse me, are you a waitress here?" "yes" she smiled. "You are serving people and you don't" wash your hands!" I said. She just looked at me and walked out! I felt sick.

I saw a girl go into thr loo in Costa with her apron on and come back out drying her hands on that apron which I thought was grim enough !
Surely you take it off before you go in the loo ffs! 🤮

My friend who works in a local restaurant never washes her hands in the public toilet. Because they must sanitise hygienically with antibacterial before entering the kitchen, handling any food, and touching other surfaces. Perhaps this restaurant isn't as fastidious. Or maybe your rude comment without any justification wasn't worth an answer.

Your friend is disgusting, by the time she gets to the kitchen she has touched and potentially spread faecal matter containing e-coli and other pathogens over a number of surfaces.

also she shouldn’t be using hand sanitizer when handling food as it’ll taint

FairyBatman · 15/07/2022 22:38

Should have said it’ll taint the food, soap and water and proper washing is more than adequate.

BitOutOfPractice · 15/07/2022 22:43

The dirtiest part of any loo is (apart from the floor!) the door handle. And this person is the reason why

brighteyesburninglikefire · 15/07/2022 22:55

I was literally almost sick reading that

Does your friend open the door with their special mind powers?

Gross

RebeccaCloud9 · 15/07/2022 23:05

Neither norovirus nor worms are killed by sanitiser. It is not a replacement for hand washing!

MRSAHILL · 15/07/2022 23:09

I got Hpylori from somewhere. I don't know if it was from a takeaway or the only other place I'd eaten, apart from home, was the local garden centre cafe. I was very ill for about 6 months. It led to malabsorption problems which affected my whole body. It also affected my mental health as I was convinced I had stomach cancer. I have always been scrupulous about cleanliness as my dh has a compromised immune system and I constantly wash my hands. I'm convinced someone was unhygienic when handling food ive eaten and I no longer get takeaways.

shiningstar2 · 15/07/2022 23:12

Before my dh retired he worked in a food factory. He said it was incredible how many men left the toilet area without washing their hands. There were notices in the toilet area and all over the factory about hand hygiene but some people didn't take the slightest notice.

Whitehorsegirl · 15/07/2022 23:13

Grim.

I assume everyone involved in handling food/working in a restaurant\kitchen gets basic hygiene training from their employer and is reminded to wash their hands....You should have told the manager or maybe leave an online review.

I am always surprised when someone doesn't wash their hands after using the loo. Seen a few women do that unfortunately...Just lazy and dirty.

Minging.

Soup and water are much better for actually washing any shitty germs off your hands, rather than just coating them in hand sanitiser. I doubt your friend actually used hand sanitiser that much, cos she'd be glad to wash it off now and again if she did. Doubt that she has the correct technique to actually sanitise her hands either.

1dontunderstand · 16/07/2022 00:13

@Jalisco are you too a minger?

DyingForACuppa · 16/07/2022 00:24

I remember going to a friend of DHs house and using the downstairs toilet only to discover there was no sink. Opened door awkwardly with my elbow and walked over to kitchen sink to wash my hands, only for our host to act surprised and say 'didn't you see the little bottle of hand sanitizer...' So gross.

Really shocking how many people think hand washing is optional!

ChinBristles · 16/07/2022 00:41

YAVU not to name this place! As we speak, thousands of MNetters up and down the country are cancelling their dinner reservations just in case!

Please post on TripAdviser AND Google Reviews as well. Would LOVE to hear the restaurant's response.

I'm no stranger to a bit of sloppy standards myself but I can't believe she didn't at least make a half-assed attempt to wash her hands given you could see her!

This is one of the reasons I very rarely eat out.

Same.

i notice a lot of people don’t wash their hands after using the restroom. Especially at work which is why I never eat food that people bring in from home

SheSaidHummingbird · 16/07/2022 01:11

Report it to the restaurant management?

Bbqchicken · 16/07/2022 01:22

This must be a common occurrence as it happened when I recently used the toilet at a local Weatherspoons. Waitress/bar staff just walked out no washing after looking in the mirror. I don't know what she was doing in the cubicle, maybe coke!! Therefote didn't feel the need to wash afterwards!

TheWayoftheLeaf · 16/07/2022 01:35

You're right that's gross.

She should wash and sanitise. If her hands are sore she can bring hand cream. I manage and I have severe eczema

Doubt she's doing coke.. she's unlikely to want to spike customers by not washing her hands

I can't get worked up about this. The aprons to protect her clothes. As long as she wasn't drying her bits with it I don't see the issue
