Lighthearted (not really though, I'm sort of jealous)...
What the heck is everybody ranting on about hot weather in the U.K.?
It's been highs of 17 here today, lows of 9. LOWS OF 9!
Yesterday had a high of 16.
My heating actually came on earlier this week.
I'm hoping for a bit of warmth next week (fingers crossed).
Is there anybody else out there that feels like their little microclimate missed the memo that's it's supposed to be hot?

I'm in the south East and it's been hot over a week now and meant to be even hotter by Tuesday. !
I'm dreading it

Redvelvet73 · 14/07/2022 21:48

Yes. It's pouring with rain here and I am cold. But most people on mumsnet assume we all live in the south east of England. I would love to see a bit of sunshine.

KnittingNeedles · 14/07/2022 21:52

We're in Glasgow. It's been warm-ish today but certainly not roasting hot.

MajorCarolDanvers · 14/07/2022 21:55

Yesterday I had to put my heating on for a little while as it was only 14C.

Today it made it to 19C.

Fife.

beachcitygirl · 14/07/2022 21:58

I've got my hearing on in scotland. Right now. ☃️

blithefool · 14/07/2022 22:00

Makes me envious
It's roasting hot here in the east of England- expecting high 30's next week 🥵

PinkButtercups · 14/07/2022 22:02

This is ours.

And I'll be sat in a hot waiting room on Tuesday with my mask on waiting for my midwife appt. Hope she runs on time 🤣.

Er, have you looked at a weather map for Tuesday? It will be hot for some, and I will love it!

And this is why I could never live in Scotland (despite loving the people) 🥶

DemiBourbon · 14/07/2022 22:10

This is the forecast for us next week in the NW 🥵

It’s raining and cold here in the Scottish coastal I’m desperate for some sun, I did drive 2.5 hours along to Berwick tho for a few days and it was a lovely 29 degrees so unfair 🤣

Stroopwaffle5000 · 14/07/2022 22:16

It's been 27 degrees down here in the south west today and due to get hotter over the weekend.

I really feel like I see way more posts from people in Scotland!

Orangio · 14/07/2022 22:19

13 degrees here today (coastal NW Highlands). Wore my shorts!
It's rained almost every day since last August, with the exception of a few nice days in April. It has been an especially wet year.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 14/07/2022 22:21

Well it’s different in different parts of the country. But they’re bound to report the weather that is unusual and therefore interesting rather than eg. “oh Gladgow had completely unremarkable weather today”.

Same if anywhere has a storm or hurricane or a lot of snow.

justasking111 · 14/07/2022 22:23

Been nice breezy summer we in n Wales but it's going to be way too hot next week

RollingInTheCreek · 14/07/2022 22:28

I agree I feel like everyone on mumsnet is Scottish!!
The weather here NW has been glorious so far- warm without being sweltering and just sunny and lovely. We moved up from london and I remember heatwaves in the city being unbearable so grateful for the few degrees difference! Interested to see 37 degrees next week!

RandomMess · 14/07/2022 22:30

Also moved from the SE to the NW much happier do not miss the dirty, humid summers.

SisterAgatha · 14/07/2022 22:35

I’m in the south east, it’s sweltering BUT I am acclimatising very quickly I’ve found. Last night when the sun went down and the back doors were still open, I said oooh it’s gone a bit chilly, hasn’t it. DP looked up at me from the sofa covered in a layer of sweat, barely able to move and said “It’s still 23 degrees, dickhead”.

I’ve got a duvet on right now.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 14/07/2022 22:35

This is us for the next few days

South east here. Today and yesterday definitely a lot more tolerable. Slight breeze and a little fresher. However dreading Monday and Tuesday and am not planing to move after 12pm unless it's too the fridge

Pugfostermum · 14/07/2022 22:47

Coventry. Got to about 20 here today. Breeze made it feel cooler. I wish I was back in the south again!!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 14/07/2022 22:49

Every summer I start looking at houses in Scotland on Rightmove. But then I think of the winters....

LBF2020 · 14/07/2022 22:55

@SisterAgatha I thought this earlier too!

FruitToast · 14/07/2022 22:58

High of 17C here today and 18C tomorrow. My coat was needed and the heating was on in the office this morning because it was quite chilly, especially in the breeze. The Metoffice is predicting 27-30 Sunday to Tuesday so warm but not outrageously hot weather. Also jealous of these people with lots of warm weather. A coat shouldn't be a required part of a summer wardrobe!
