AIBU to say what hot weather...

Lighthearted (not really though, I'm sort of jealous)...
What the heck is everybody ranting on about hot weather in the U.K.?
It's been highs of 17 here today, lows of 9. LOWS OF 9!
Yesterday had a high of 16.
My heating actually came on earlier this week.
I'm hoping for a bit of warmth next week (fingers crossed).
Is there anybody else out there that feels like their little microclimate missed the memo that's it's supposed to be hot?

"Good" weather to me 20-25. Anything over that is bad, and nothing to be envious of.

We’re in Angus, it’s raining and chilly here today but we’ve had some nice weather. Makes a big difference from the summers we’ve been used to down south, but at 6 months pregnant I am glad of the gentle breezes and occasional bursts of sunshine! I honestly couldn’t cope with London temps right now, and next week looks hideously hot where we used to live.

That's where I am too and today is a welcome relief from the temps in the high 20s we've had recently. My thermometer is reading 22° today which normally I find too hot for me.

My family are in the north of Scotland, my Mum told me to enjoy the sun before we come up for our holidays. I'm actually looking forward to not being hot and sweaty.

MajorCarolDanvers · 15/07/2022 11:21

@ILikeHotWaterBottles

12-13 isn't that bad, put a jumper on or something, I wouldn't bother with heating. But if you don't mind paying the high charges, go ahead I guess

Thanks for your permission 😂

There's certainly a big difference within Scotland it's self. Last week Edinburgh recorded a high of 27 whilst Lerwick was 12.

GoldenOmber · 15/07/2022 11:28

Pouring here too. I’m a bit jealous of London and the south for getting hot weather this week, but I’m not envying them what’s forecast for next week - 40° is really worrying.

TBH I am in Glasgow and our winters are not especially bad 🤷‍♀️

The rain, though...I'd rather have a nice cold, crisp winter day than yet another dreich-but-not-that-cold day.

Having said that, I'm over in the east and am really welcoming the rain that's hit us this morning - the poor grass really needs it!

I live in Scotland and work in a school. I can count on one hand with fingers to spare how many indoor breaks we've had in the last school year. Or really doesn't rain all that much

ErrolTheDragon · 15/07/2022 11:50

I'm in Lancashire - we're having a few days of coolish, partly overcast/rainy weather. But it was pretty hot a few days ago, and is forecast to be very hot sun-Tuesday - not quite as bad as the south but still won't be pleasant.

YANBU OP but as with anything else, unless it happens in London it doesn't exist as far as the media is concerned.

To be fair to the media on this one, about 80% of the population live in an area that's going to have high temps over the next couple of days.

RewildingAmbridge · 15/07/2022 11:54

This is ours, it's nice today but earlier in the week when it was hot and cloudy, it was stifling

I put the heating on this morning for an hour. Cold wind, pouring with rain on and off.

It's like being from a different planet 😂

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 15/07/2022 12:02

YABVU to not say where you are.

AtomicBlondeRose · 15/07/2022 12:03

Where I am it’s 16 degrees, grey and with a light drizzle! And not in Scotland (though north of the Humber).

MeatballMeatball · 15/07/2022 12:06

NOrth west, I'm thinking of putting a cardi on. It's overcast, windy and not that warm. We've had a few nice days - but generally this year's weather hasn't been great. Dry though.

HotHeatDays · 15/07/2022 12:08

Redvelvet73 · 14/07/2022 21:48

Yes. It's pouring with rain here and I am cold. But most people on mumsnet assume we all live in the south east of England. I would love to see a bit of sunshine.

Middle here and DSis lives in the West country.

All predicted 36 next week. It isn't just the SE.

PaperTyger · 15/07/2022 12:24

I'm almost tempted to drive up to Scotland to escape it

emmathedilemma · 15/07/2022 12:47

i'm back to long trousers and a fleece today! To be fair, if it stops raining I'd rather this than the 28-30 we had at weekend.

fudfootedfannybangle · 15/07/2022 12:59

North of Scotland and it’s 12 right now. The bliss of driving up from England last summer all the way north. I rejoiced when I got on to the a9 and it seemed to drop a degree every 10 miles. 😂

Chopbob · 15/07/2022 20:36

Sorry, I realise IABVU to not say where I am 🤣- NW England, right up on the pennines

My family live much closer to Shetland than Inverness, never mind the central belt 😀
