What on earth are they on about?

i thought they were all “world beating” and “record levels of this that and the other”

but they get rid of boris and suddenly the truth is out

the economy needs fixing
the nhs needs fixing
every fucking thing needs fixing seemingly….

how can they be so incredibly unself aware?

i thought the only thing that people trusted them on was the economy.

and think they’ll be able to bribe people with phantom tax cuts? Where’s the magic money tree they were blethering in about?

bunch of liars. And incompetent liars at that.

is anyone actually going to vote for them ever again?

I had this exact thought earlier. Liz Truss said something about getting the economy back on track. I had to snort. They’ve only been in charge of the economy for 12 years. Nice to see their own admission that they’ve run the U.K. economy into the ground.

CalistoNoSolo · 14/07/2022 20:38

Nothing they say is for the electorate. It's all for the other con MP's and the membership. I just hope the electorate remember the lies and bullshit spouted durung this contest when the GE is finally here.

mumof2many1943 · 14/07/2022 20:40

Totally agree with all previous comments!

DingleyDel · 14/07/2022 20:41

And isn’t every other major economy predicted to grown next year? U.K. predicted nil. That was reported by bbc economics editor the other day anyway. We’re hurtling towards a recession and they are farting about with this ridiculous contest.

berryfull · 14/07/2022 20:42

or do they hold the general public in such contempt that they think if they go on about “a fresh start” enough that everyone will just assume they have been in opposition or the last decade hasn’t happened? Trying to suspend our national reality again. Like pretending the way they’ve handled brexit and covid has been successful!!!

GrowlingManchego · 14/07/2022 20:42

You’re right. I don’t see how anyone can take them seriously any more.

Yes, mass gaslighting

I think a lot of voters have short memories, sadly.

berryfull · 14/07/2022 20:47

I thought I couldn’t feel angrier when all the covid partying came out, but I’m feeling it again. How utterly disrespectful they are to the intelligent hardworking people of this country to lie and lie and lie to us like they do. All of them. Johnson was just the tip of the iceberg.

OP posts:
QuebecBagnet · 14/07/2022 20:48

Which is why I certainly don’t want anyone who’s been in the cabinet recently in charge. If it has to be a Tory then I’d prefer someone a bit fresher. Even though I know there’s still no point being optimistic about things being different. I saw Liz Truss distancing herself from everything, apparently she’d often disagreed with stuff in cabinet meetings but she’s a “loyalist” so soldiered on. 🙄

I think Kemi is probably the best hope…..but she’s still a Tory. They all support the Rwanda deportation plan for example.

They absolutely hold us in complete contempt. It's extraordinary how anyone living an even slightly 'normal' life can think that the cons represent them. And the way people fawn over Johnson just staggers me. He's not your mate, he couldn't give a fuck about you!! Grrrr.

Oh I hadn’t seen that. Yeah, maybe not then.

problem with Tories it’s like trying to decide which pile of shit smells best. Can only hope for a Labour win at the next election but it can’t come soon enough.

None of those lying Tories can be trusted, as far as I am concerned. I am sickened by the fact that they may get in again, once we have a general election. How ordinary, poorer people voted for them, believing their lies, I will never understand. And people still defend that Johnson.

TooBigForMyBoots · 14/07/2022 21:17

YANBU @berryfull, they have destroyed the UK for years to come. We are the most unstable we have been in 100 years.🤯

Ontomatopea · 14/07/2022 21:19

Good point OP!

Glencanto · 14/07/2022 21:21

At least they’re now tacitly willing to admit they’ve been an absolute disaster for the country.

Quite why anyone would be stupid enough to trust them to fix it though…

comealongponds · 14/07/2022 21:23

It’s ridiculous. If the country needs fixing it’s because the Tories have spent 12 years destroying it

its almost as mind blowing as the ones who are proud that they/their parents/grandparents emigrated or fled persecution to the UK but also want to stop others doing the same and send refugees to Rwanda. I really don’t know how even the Tories can think that makes any kind of sense!

comealongponds · 14/07/2022 21:24

Oh and never forget they were all supporting Boris just a couple of weeks ago, they’ve only changed their tune now because it’s in their personal interest to do so. Otherwise they’d still be licking Boris’ arse.

SpaceGoatFarm · 14/07/2022 21:26

Because the voting population have shown themselves to be stupid enough to accept the narrative.

SpaceGoatFarm · 14/07/2022 21:26

And around 83% of UK media is right wing and conservative so will bombard people with the governments lies.

berryfull · 14/07/2022 21:32

Lying husks of human beings. I don’t know how they can continue to function given the amount of circles they are continually squaring. Even a little white lie eats away at most normal people. They lie continually about everything. They have told so many lies that they all must be in such huge amounts of pain that they have lost all normal human feelings. That must explain how they don’t seem to realise just how awful they are looking. They have lost their enchantment. Totally jumped the shark now. Who could ever trust them?

@DingleyDel I wonder if they’re saying they need to sort out the economy because Covid messed it up?

I’m in no way trying to defend the Tories (I don’t vote Tory and never will!) but just crossed my mind that perhaps Covid is partly responsible for our economic issues atm (compared to, say, the last leadership elections in 2019 and 2016).

LightSpeeds · 14/07/2022 21:41

Listening to Rishi Sunak on R4 this morning, evading every question asked, made me want to punch the radio 🤬

Itdoesntreallymatter · 14/07/2022 21:45

It does strike me as odd that they have been happy to vote for policies that have left the country on its arse for the last 12 years, but now they suddenly need fixing?

As I've said before, this leadership challenge is like watching an episode of Ozark when all the characters have turned into Wendy.

Apparently Rishi set up his promotional website at the beginning of the year 🤔If he gets in, I give him until Feb 2023. People don't like him and when other MPs realise that it will be more of the same again. More chaos and backstabbing, square root of fuck all getting done.
