What on earth are they on about?

i thought they were all “world beating” and “record levels of this that and the other”

but they get rid of boris and suddenly the truth is out

the economy needs fixing
the nhs needs fixing
every fucking thing needs fixing seemingly….

how can they be so incredibly unself aware?

i thought the only thing that people trusted them on was the economy.

and think they’ll be able to bribe people with phantom tax cuts? Where’s the magic money tree they were blethering in about?

bunch of liars. And incompetent liars at that.

is anyone actually going to vote for them ever again?

Why does nobody else seem to realise that Liz Truss is really, really odd?

And I agree none of these options will last 5 minutes.

Newyearnewname20 · 14/07/2022 21:35

@DingleyDel I wonder if they’re saying they need to sort out the economy because Covid messed it up?

I’m in no way trying to defend the Tories (I don’t vote Tory and never will!) but just crossed my mind that perhaps Covid is partly responsible for our economic issues atm (compared to, say, the last leadership elections in 2019 and 2016).

Possible, but it just didn’t come across that way. She said “We cannot have business-as-usual economic management which has led to low growth for decades.”

Seems a bit of an own goal somehow.

berryfull · 14/07/2022 21:59

Yeah that they think that sunak is popular enough to win an election is mental. he got fined by the police, he lied too, he’s a tax avoider, his policies as chancellor have been unpopular with left and right. He did the fucking eat out to help out shite!!!! They are utterly deluded and hold the electorate in contempt if they think that folk like him.

Hopefully they’ll vote him in and then get their commupence for playing to the racists for the last decade by expecting all the folk they’ve emboldened to vote for a rich brown banker.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 14/07/2022 22:00

'Ready for Rishi'.

That's Sunak's campaign slogan.

He's been chancellor for many years now!

What are we supposed to be ready for? Same shite different face.

SpaceGoatFarm · 14/07/2022 22:04

Every other country has faced covid and the war in ukraine but its only UK and Greece (who you may remember had some issues) in western europe who's wages have completely flatlined or even gone down against massive rising costs.

SpaceGoatFarm · 14/07/2022 22:05

It was really funny when Rishi borrowed that sainsbury's workers modest car to pretend he was a man of the people though to be fair to him. If we must have a tory PM I want one I can laugh at, and not with, at length.

GetThatHelmetOn · 14/07/2022 22:15

Early waker here. By the time I need to work I have read the policy news in all major newspapers. If you want to know how these bastards stay in power read The Express, it provides a huge segment of the UK population with an such an alternative reality that it can easily make, you think the world is made of chocolate, Boris is the best PM we have ever had and that Putin is going to die of cancer tomorrow. If the news are really bad for the day, they just simply do not cover them.

If the masses are swallowing that tripe day in day out, no wonder why we are were we are. Sadly I believe most people will continue to vote for the Tories even if they set the country on fire.

GetThatHelmetOn · 14/07/2022 22:16

Damn the autocorrect, by the time I go to work, I have read the politics news of… meant to say.

Crikeyalmighty · 14/07/2022 22:25

I'm waiting for the Tory PR (I'm convinced they are) who seem to pop up on here on any thread involving Tory's or 'is Britain a bit crap etc, etc. i don't think any have done so far- probably too busy fannying with leadership campaign -

Crikeyalmighty · 14/07/2022 22:28

As you say OP- they are talking as if they've been in opposition for 12 years and have nothing to do with country being in a state on so many levels ( unless of course you are a mumsnetter who lives in a nice little friendly village , go pony riding, have private health, kids at private school and haven't really noticed any cost of living issues as hubby got a nice 6 figure bonus)

All the usual suspects seem to have exited the building. I can’t imagine why …

berryfull · 14/07/2022 22:38

Not only no Tory or folk, but also no Tory mumsnetters

OP posts:
berryfull · 14/07/2022 22:39

Tory PR folk (autocorrect!)

OP posts:
Mumoblue · 14/07/2022 22:40

The Tories have spent twelve years digging a whole and now are just sitting around trying to pick the shiniest shovel.

I cannot take anyone seriously who thinks these clowns are going to fix anything.

SpaceGoatFarm · 14/07/2022 22:43

The resident copypaste tory bot has vanished while the leadership contest is on. I did see one on here trying to do an impression of a working class person though.

jgw1 · 14/07/2022 22:49

YABVVU

You have to remember that for the past 12 years it has been the wrong kind of Tory party in power. With a new leader we will have a different Tory party and everything will be much, much better. What has been wrong with the previous Tory parties is that they have all been lead by Remainers. Call me Dave, May Dance and Boris are all well known lovers of the EU.

What we need is a full fledged Brexiteer and that person is of course Liz Truss.

Kant · 14/07/2022 22:50

Don't worry. Someone will be along to bleat '...but...but... Corbyn...' in a minute. That's what passes for an opinion these days.

I never used to judge anyone's politics, but since the nasty swerve to the Right and Rwanda, etc. anyone cruel enough to vote for more years of Tory power in a GE should definitely consider it open season.

Crikeyalmighty · 14/07/2022 22:50

Thing is they are actually quite blatant as they never pop up on posts about someone's husband or a child issue, only political type posts. It's like the weird guys who only pop up on threads related to sex or porn- I'm sure they've got an alert word set!!

I agree she’s like some kind of weird robot.

Neverendingdust · 14/07/2022 23:10

Regardless of whoever becomes PM, we’re going to be in an utter mess as a country and unfortunately I have zero faith in any of them to be able to steer the nation through the winter troubles.

Brexit, Covid and this disaster of a government. It’s like we’re a cursed island. God help us all.

Crikeyalmighty · 14/07/2022 23:18

I think her Duracell batteries are running down-

TooBigForMyBoots · 14/07/2022 23:24

We're already a fucking mess. A shambolic, chaotic Conservative government have created a shambolic, chaotic country.

The economy is fucked.
Law and order is fucked.
The NHS is fucked.
Everyone, farmers, sick people, transport workers, small and medium businesses, public sector workers, private sector etc. is fucked off.

And life is only going to get worse.😟

SpaceGoatFarm · 15/07/2022 01:18

Supposedly Lizbot (can we call her that after the Maybot?) Got lost inbetween the door and the podium at her speech today. Not for a short time either. Then got lost again on the way out.

SpaceGoatFarm · 15/07/2022 01:20

I'm not sure if that's worse than her thinking the baltic countries are next to the black sea or Rostov was in ukraine and had been invaded.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 15/07/2022 01:22

Sunak's been running on 'fixing the economy'.

Up until a couple of weeks ago you were the fucking Chancellor of the Exchequer, mate!
