Britain is not ready for BAME PM

Rishi might just be voted by MPs but will not win general elections. Already we are reminded he is rich, has an US Greencard, cut taxes, unrelatable, wife is rich and did not pay tax, did not declare tax, etc, as if any different from Boris.

Do you think Britain is ready for BAME PM?
Yes = you are unreasonable
No = you are not being unreasonable

NB, you don't have to explain whether it makes Britain racist or not. I am personally happy he is standing for leadership, it will be his good reminder (as many of us BAME know) racism trumps social class.

I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make…?
He is very rich, there have been concerns about his history of tax avoidance- I’m not sure what that has to do with BAME ?

GoodJanetBadJanet · 10/07/2022 01:13

I'd never been vote for Rishi. It has nothing to do with skin colour though.
If he was Obama or someone with similar values though I would in a heartbeat!

GoodJanetBadJanet · 10/07/2022 01:14

Random word been there 😕

GreenLunchBox · 10/07/2022 01:20

Most of the candidates running are brown: Zahawi, Braverman, Sunak, Badenoch, Kwarteng, Javid. Isn't it just Truss, Tungenhat and Mourdant that are white?

But I agree. Brexit Britain won't vote for a brown person.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/07/2022 01:21

Well the public seems to favour gibbering arseholes with more money than sense and no morals. I therefore find it impossible to think my way into their brains.

Quite possibly Rishi is too professional. He's only self-serving and massively rich, not a sexually incontinent quasi-idiot.

1000yellowdaisies · 10/07/2022 01:21

I don't know if britain is ready for a BAME PM honestly....
No chance I'd vote for Rishi Sunak but nowt to do with his race...

notnever · 10/07/2022 01:21

@spotcheck point is exactly he will not be voted PM because he is BAME
@GoodJanetBadJanet that's just that, he has to be on a standard higher than what was expected of Boris or other Tory leaders.

notnever · 10/07/2022 01:23

@GreenLunchBox but none of the other brown candidates stand a chance - it is between Truss and Rishi

OP posts:
TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 10/07/2022 01:24

I wouldn't vote for Rishi. Not because he is BAMA. Because I don't trust him.

Fuck all to do with skin colour so stop making out like it is.

Goady racist tripe.

Od130990 · 10/07/2022 01:29

He bailed his job while the country is in a financial living crisis. NO THANKS NEXT JOKE

HeddaGarbled · 10/07/2022 01:33

I think we’re more likely to see a Conservative BAME PM before we see a Labour one, in the same way we’ve had women Conservative PMs but not Labour.

Whether it’s Sunak remains to be seen. I think his stratospherically wealthy wife will be a massive handicap with voters during the inevitable economic shitstorm we’re about to endure.

Kimwexlerr · 10/07/2022 01:34

Weird. You mention his race then say other reasons why he’d be unpopular.

It’s striking how people like to imagine other people are racist.

I don’t think he’d get elected but not because he’s BAME. Because he’s too rich. It doesn’t bother me but it clearly bothers a lot of people.

KettrickenSmiled · 10/07/2022 01:43

Yeah OP - because a BAME Home Sec & a BAME Chancellor are just occupying junior posts in British government aren't they?

Not enough eyerolls for this goady shit.

Whataworldwelovei · 10/07/2022 01:44

i would not vote for him because of his wealth nothing to do with the colour of his skin. My vote would be for sajid javid.

KettrickenSmiled · 10/07/2022 01:44

Sunak is wed to the notion of Austerity.

For the common people, you understand. Not the likes of him & Mrs Sunak.

5zeds · 10/07/2022 01:48

i don’t think he’ll get in primarily because he isn’t white. I don’t know any non white people who think otherwise.

Teddeh · 10/07/2022 01:52

A day more ready than they were when someone posted this yesterday.

(If you're talking about Sunak specifically, though, he is not "BAME"; ethnically his background is Punjabi.)

notnever · 10/07/2022 01:56

@TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo @KettrickenSmiled how is an open invite to talk about racism goady?

@KettrickenSmiled It is the passive aggresiveness of it all, you know for a fact he can be anything but not PM.

A4Document · 10/07/2022 01:58

Brexit Britain won't vote for a brown person.

Of course they will. They just want someone who can do a good job. Plenty of them have voted for their local MPs who happen to be black or brown.

notnever · 10/07/2022 01:59

@Teddeh Your ignorance is breathtaking, Punjabis are ethinic minorities.

OP posts:
BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 10/07/2022 02:01

I wouldn't vote for him because he's a Tory, no other reason.

Nanc123 · 10/07/2022 02:37

Didn’t he lose the UK over a billion because we were on the wrong interest rate…why isn’t that a sackable offence 🤯 not sure if the country collectively wouldn’t vote in a very posh English man of Indian heritage because of that heritage.. I think the country as a whole is more islamaphobic and xenophobic and racist to MPs from a African or Caribbean heritage

Aintnosupermum · 10/07/2022 02:58

The one positive I note with Boris is that his cabinet was mixed in terms of backgrounds and ethnicity. It wasn’t a Blair’s Babes moments, it was just done without fanfare.

I think we are ready as a country for a proper leader. Rishi Sunak isn’t a leader. Quite frankly none of the parties have a good leader in the wings.

The only leader I respected was Ruth Davidson and I would love to see her in a leadership role. Sadly she has the common sense to focus on raising her family instead of wading through the muck in Westminster. Makes me respect her more.

KettrickenSmiled · 10/07/2022 03:11

@KettrickenSmiled It is the passive aggresiveness of it all, you know for a fact he can be anything but not PM.

@notnever - What passive aggression, about what, by who?
What do I know for a fact?
Who can't be PM?

Iwonder08 · 10/07/2022 03:38

Here we go again. People won't vote for him because he is BAME, not because he is not a strong leader? What we need now is to suggest Priti Patel for PM and claim she won't be elected because she is a woman and BAME, not because of her track record with inhumane immigration policies
