A woman bought something from me yesterday, through Facebook Marketplace. She messaged in advance to ask if cash would be ok, and I said a bank transfer would be far preferable, as I rarely carry cash these days. She saw the message and didn't reply, so I assumed that was ok.
She turned up to collect the item and only had cash on her Hmm I accepted the cash, thinking that I could use it to pay for something in town later.
In town, I discover that the cash has somehow fallen out my bag Angry
So it's a loss all round for me.

What's a relatively trivial irritation you've had to put up with lately?

A guy pulled out on me today in traffic. He absolutely did not look in my direction at all, just looked the way he was going, and I nearly slammed into the back of him. What is wrong with people. ?

Isittimeformynapyet · 09/07/2022 07:25

The kitchen roll did not tear cleanly at the perforations this morning.

2 friends coming to stay for the weekend. We agreed on pizza the first night. 1 friends train very delayed. We are starving. We wait til 9pm to order. Then wait another 30 minutes for friend to arrive only for her to tell us that her diet means she can't eat gluten and she never eats in the evening anyway.

Why couldn't she have told us earlier????

Hellopello · 09/07/2022 07:36

that tearable @Isittimeformynapyet

pumpkinpie01 · 09/07/2022 07:38

Some years ago and very much my own fault, but, boy, it still rankles!

I've always worked in museum/gallery education, mainly in big museums. I always dreamt of a job in a small local museum (my favourite sort) and part-time: bliss.

A friend mentioned she'd heard there was a job going at a lovely local museum and when I checked, the hours were perfect for fitting in with school drop-offs etc. All within 5 miles of my home! But...the closing date was that very day. No, my friend wasn't being a devious cow - she wasn't au fait with the world of museums and had come across this vacancy by complete chance. I rang them and they were sympathetic, but very ethical and wouldn't accept a late application. I banged my head against a wall and just accepted it.

3 years later...the job came up again and i missed it again through rank stupidity. It was advertised again very discreetly in niche publications and, to be honest, I'd forgotten about it and got on with my own job. It was entirely my fault -I should have been more watchful, but I suppose I expected the incumbent to stay there for 20 years! I sometimes walk/drive past that lovely old Tudor house where the museum is and wonder what might have been...I know some people fantasise about a high-powered job in corporate finance, but i just wanted to work there with happy little primary school kids!!!

Too late now - I've let it go.

Got Covid, a cough caught me unawares and suddenly I’ve wet my pants!

Laiste · 09/07/2022 08:41

During the night one of the cats has torn up his fluffy toy into millions of little pieces on the door mat.

Fluff sticks to this bloody doormat like shit to a blanket Hmm I'm going to be at it for ages with a hoover tool to get it all off.

Eldest child away on a school trip, says he wants curry on his first night home. Arrives late and isn't actually hungry so then DH is hangry and grumpy!

TheGriffle · 09/07/2022 08:47

The sunshine and now I’ve got to spend an extra 5 minutes shaving my legs this morning as they look like yeti like. Super irritated me as I hate the heat!

QueSyrahSyrah · 09/07/2022 08:48

@Samcro If he was backing out why didn't you just stop and let him? It's awful having to reverse out onto a busy road.

My trivial (first world) thing, I booked a lovely lunch at a new restaurant today for DH's birthday, and it transpires we now need to go meet his family for breakfast for another birthday, really close by.

We'll just have coffee so as not to ruin lunch but it leaves us 2 hours to kill in between when we could have been in bed.

blobby10 · 09/07/2022 09:03

My trivial annoyance is that I’ve somehow caught a virus and it won’t bloody go! better during the week but weekends get a temp (soaking sheets during the night) and shooting pains in muscles and joints and I’m FED UP feeling under the weather 😡

CourtneeLuv · 09/07/2022 09:10

My housework needs doing.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 09/07/2022 09:10

I have a waterproof and armour plated phone because I am a clumsy oaf who has ruined many a phone by simply attempting to use them.
It's a great phone, 18 months old - which is a record for me. It has a special rubber plug thing that goes into the USC charging point that should remain attached to the phone when charging.
Well it's fallen off, the little connecting bit of rubber has split. I'm now bloody paranoid when I charge it up that I'm going to lose the plug which will mean no more waterproof phone and given I'm a butterfingered idiot, the chances of me dropping the plug when I'm trying to take it off or put it back on are quite high. It's a small black rectangle and if (when) I do drop it, I'll probably never see it again.

JamSandwich89 · 09/07/2022 09:12

DC and I not eaten in our home since last weekend (we've been out and about), so only DH used kitchen this week. It's a bloody tip. Grease everywhere. Dishes piled up. Dirty cups been put back in the cupboard. 🫠

It's got a blockage. Maybe a nest?

takealettermsjones · 09/07/2022 09:14

@QueSyrahSyrah you shouldn't be backing out onto a very busy road?!

Mine is that my TV/broadband cut out just as I was about to watch a programme, so I had to watch a recording instead, but the recording ended before the programme did. So now I'll never know how that last 10 mins went!

11Hawkins · 09/07/2022 09:14

I woke up at 6am, and haven't managed to get back to sleep.

This happens far too often in my house, so annoying

ohgawdnowivedoneit · 09/07/2022 09:19

I pulled into a parking spot in an empty car park. When I came back a car had parked next to me, but so close that I couldn't get the driver's door open. I had to climb over from the passengers side. They had the whole of the bloody car park that they could have left their car!

LindaEllen · 09/07/2022 09:35

DSS dropped a (fucking massive) bowl of pot puri (god knows how you spell that) all over the kitchen.. days ago, and I'll still finding bits.
