Most annoying minor thing to happen to you recently

A woman bought something from me yesterday, through Facebook Marketplace. She messaged in advance to ask if cash would be ok, and I said a bank transfer would be far preferable, as I rarely carry cash these days. She saw the message and didn't reply, so I assumed that was ok.
She turned up to collect the item and only had cash on her Hmm I accepted the cash, thinking that I could use it to pay for something in town later.
In town, I discover that the cash has somehow fallen out my bag Angry
So it's a loss all round for me.

What's a relatively trivial irritation you've had to put up with lately?

Had dental pain and could only been seen during 'office hours' which did not go down well in my own office hours job, as short staffed and I suppose off to a dentist appointment is or use to be a most overused common excuse to attend an interview on another employers time so can't blame the suspicion. (ended up with 2 antibotics and having an extraction next week which I'm far from looking forward to at £169 spent later) But it dearly cost me my job. (which while short term I could have really done without no job this early on) it really couldn't have gotten any worse this week. 😪Thanks dental pain! Has put me off an office hours job as well going forward.

Hang on... they sacked you for going to a dentist appointment??

Have Covid. Had to be sick. Can't lean over loo as I have weak bladder and I'll wet myself. Sat on the loo with bowl to be sick in. Afterwards promptly knocked bowl and it flipped and chucked all the sick all over the floor and my feet. I cried. 😂

@QuestionableMouse Sorry, forgot to tag you before! I hope that's not your house because that looks a lot like a mother fucker cockroach... I'm sorry to say, they usually don't crash parties alone.

It was a www.ukbeetles.co.uk/harpalus-rufipes I believe!

Recently I booked a thing for me, my friend and our kids (I booked at my friends request). The total was to be split and she’d send her half. The total was £39.80 and she literally sent £19.90! Surely you’d just think “oh its £40 and £20 is half” and not bother to go to your calculator to work it out exactly. It’s hard when people just don’t think like you…. Not that I’d feel over generous in paying 10p extra lol I just though it was weird to not just split £40 🙄it really irritated me and I don’t really know why😵

This annoys me too! I always round up but I have a friend who will split right down to the penny. I thought I was unique in my annoyance at this!

hornchurchmum · 12/07/2022 10:15

I’m glad it’s not just me! :)
Equally it works both ways… I was out with another friend last night and I paid for the dinner in Five Guys which came to £40.35 and she straight away pinged me over £20 as I would fully expect her to. What adult honestly spilts pennies? 🙄

Oceanus · 12/07/2022 11:15

QuestionableMouse · 12/07/2022 05:12

Honest, I saw a cockroach but with that website of yours I see a beetle now and I'm not very religious but 🙏Amen to that! I would take a beetle over a cockroach every.single.time. Keeping my fingers crossed for you it's a one-man party! 😁

DS's wore brand new white T shirt to sports day yesterday. Now it's covered in grass stains and not even vanish can remove it...

minimadgirl · 12/07/2022 12:45

Child got calpol on my nurses apron that I wear for 40s events, I had spent all weekend out in it, cuddled and fed the baby in it, ate a sausage sandwich and cake, walked miles on dusty ground, stayed clean, got home and toddler spat calpol on it. It won't come out!

I don't know who's responsible for restocking the paper towel dispensers in my new workplace, but I do wish they wouldn't do it so tightly. Trying to grasp at the exposed towel at the bottom just leads to torn off little bits 😡

Sweatinglikeabitch · 12/07/2022 13:14

I only took one nappy with me to swimming because it would be going on when we got out the pool and then we'd be straight in the car and DS would nap. What could possibly go wrong? Well! He instantly did a huge sloppy poo in it so I had to turn it out and clean it with a wetwipe then put it back on 🙈

Flipflopblowout · 13/07/2022 13:14

I just drive slower and slower until they get the massage.

Went to bring my white nightdress in off the line and it has grey/black smears on. No idea where from so it has to go in the wash again.

Your washing machine probably needs cleaning. Mine does this sometimes

Minfilia · 13/07/2022 14:02

Got a “sorry we missed you” from DPD.

Their driver never even attempted to come near my house! There is a special place in hell for these couriers!

Coastalcreeksider · 13/07/2022 14:15

Had my car valeted today as it was covered in dust and pigeon poo.

Last paid £20 for inside and out plus polish but paid £25 today.

That was bad enough but they didn't put a new freshener and a spare one in the car.

Might have to get the bucket and sponge back out next time it needs doing and buy my own car fresheners ...😕

dragoncheeselady · 13/07/2022 14:52

Dragged myself into the office even though I knew no one else in my team would be there because I said I would go to a demo of the new tech in meeting rooms. Went to where it was supposed to be held and waited for 10 minute but no one showed up. So I basically came in for nothing.
Left to go home and had to spend the first part of the walk playing dodge the tourist as its that time of the year in our very touristy town😡

And TODAY we can’t deliver due to “insufficient address”.

the address on the parcel is correct but apparently we don’t have eyes that can read labels, only what’s incorrectly entered onto the tracking machines!!!

Backtoreality1 · 13/07/2022 16:14

@QueSyrahSyrah You shouldn't be reversing onto a main road.....you should always reverse off it....and yes I do this in practice. Anyone stupid enough to reverse onto a main road can wait!

Giant spider is in the house. It escaped me and the dog and now I know it's crawling around somewhere.

😳

This is supposed to be about minor irritations, not utterly terrifying nightmares 😱

Tdcp · 13/07/2022 16:25

I'm at work and my trousers have ripped in the crotch -_-

Oops; tagged the wrong person...

@Backtoreality1 Yes, I know that, but as I said upthread there are some occasions, particularly when driving a van with rear opening doors that you need to unload a delivery from, that reversing in simply isn't possible. My point was that on that rare occasion, stopping and giving someone the 5 seconds courtesy that they need to pull out safely generally causes much less drama and stress overall than leaning on the horn and speeding past.

Anyway, on with the thread....

Roundaboot · 14/07/2022 10:24

I was trying to "fix" the cord on the living room blind. There was nothing actually wrong with it, the child safe attachment thing had come loose and it looked scruffy. I managed to let go of one of the cords when I was doing it, which has gone up into the blind mechanism and now the whole thing is slightly on the wonk.
Hard to describe exactly what happened but basically, the blind was fine, I arsed about it with and now it's worse. It's going to annoy me every time I look at it - should have left the bloody thing alone!

Went shopping for a few things. Got home couldn't find my card and some cash. Thought I'd left it at the shop. Went back no joy, couldn't work it all out. I'd only gone from the shop and straight home. Cancelled my card, then found the card and cash in a side pocket in my bag. Mad half hour but glad it turned up
