Steve Wright Radio 2 Exit

Hi All,
Just joined up and wanted to express my opinion...
Sad to hear that Steve Wright has been pushed out of his afternoon show, Ive grown up with him in the afternoon on Radio 1 and 2....Don't think Scott Mills is the right man for the job, very bland and no sense of humour, Rylan would have been the perfect host for this show, anyway it has happened and I think we will see Steve Wright on Greatest Hits Radio early next year, its where the oldies go and they are doing a great job, esp Simon mayo and Pat Sharp...Im slowly drifting away from Radio 2 and I think lots more will now, I think ken Bruce will be the next to be culled , Its like Radio 1 back in the early 90s when they axed everyone.

Steve Wright is appallingly dated. He should've gone years ago.

Well from Radio 1 they go onto radio 2. I did wonder where Simon Mayo went!

When I ever accidentally listen to Steve Wright I am amazed he is still on the radio. He is horrendous. I know everyone has different tastes but he is boring, not funny and just soooooooo dated.
thank god he’s finally leaving/being pushed out.

I’m glad he’s gone - was dated 10years ago - now if Jeremy Vine could go - who wants to listen to whinging for hours.

Don’t like Steve Wright, Scott Mills or most of the music on radio2 so I will continue not listening.

I think him leaving is a good thing. Isn't radio 2 aimed at 30/40 year olds? This has always been my impression yet Ken Bruce and Steve wright are so dated and stuck in the 70's. Jeremy vine on the other hand is great, I love his chat and debate show. I think it's time for ken and Steve to move on to radio aimed at an older demographic.

I used to love Steve Wright years ago but haven't listened to him recently. Scott Mills is awful though! It's a bit of an insult to be replaced by him! At least SW never took himself that seriously ...eugh.

I think the only dj more irritating than Steve Wright (apart from Jeremy Vine) is Rylan. I don't think I've ever listened to Scott Mills, but he surely can't be worse than any of them!

I know it's not right, but many people would do these jobs for free and probably be just as good 😳. There seems to be a comparative gravy train for supposed creative talent as for supposed business talent..

Scott Mills just sounds really bored all thr time. Only plus point is that it's less likely he'll replace the wonderful Ken Bruce when he's holiday and we can be spared from him murdering Popmaster again.

I wont bother listening to Radio 2 any more in the afternoons. I'll continue with Ken Bruce for as long as he lasts

I LOVE Scott Mills, but grew up listening to him on radio 1. Delighted with this news. We’re all different aren’t we 😊

The only person who made me want to throw the radio out of the window more than Steve Wright, was the bloke who was on with him.

Steve Wright was always utterly awful and the people on with him are talentless. It was the same show everyday for decades. I was so pleased to hear he's going. Maybe they saw all the Mumsnet threads complaining about how dreadful SW is? The only thing worse than SW in the afternoon is local radio. Please please not that Ryland person. I cannot, for the life of me, understand how he has a career in television or radio. He sneers at everyone and seems devoid of any character. Surely there must be some new talent out there, why do Radio 2 insist on recycling washed up Radio 1 DJs?
