Steve Wright Radio 2 Exit

Hi All,
Just joined up and wanted to express my opinion...
Sad to hear that Steve Wright has been pushed out of his afternoon show, Ive grown up with him in the afternoon on Radio 1 and 2....Don't think Scott Mills is the right man for the job, very bland and no sense of humour, Rylan would have been the perfect host for this show, anyway it has happened and I think we will see Steve Wright on Greatest Hits Radio early next year, its where the oldies go and they are doing a great job, esp Simon mayo and Pat Sharp...Im slowly drifting away from Radio 2 and I think lots more will now, I think ken Bruce will be the next to be culled , Its like Radio 1 back in the early 90s when they axed everyone.

I love Scott Mills, his radio 1 show is hilarious, he does very creative and weird comic things, and his podcast is great too.
Those of you slagging him when you've only heard him stand in for Ken Bruce are being ignorant.

Agree with all the posters who say when Ken Bruce goes they will go too! I can't believe they've replaced Steve Wright with Scott Mills - just why?

Thank goodness he's going and presumably taking Tim and Janie with him too.

I’ve commented on the other thread too. I enjoy SW show . It’s lighthearted and easy going and I do find it funny and enjoy Tim Smith and Janey’s contributions too. Very surprised by all the hate. But for me it’s a bit nostalgic in the same way Terry Wogan’s show was, a reassuring presence.

I do wish they get rid of Rylan and JV though.

A billion years ago when I was ageing out of Radio 1 I was delighted that Steve Wright was moving to Radio 2.

Now it's been at least 10 years that I've been thinking 'why hasn't he gone' and switching off as soon as Steve Wright comes on.

There's a time you leave Radio 1 and a time you leave Radio 2, and he has been well past the latter for years. His show is cringey.

The only exceptions to this rule have been Terry Wogan and Ken Bruce as broadcasting legends. Which Steve Wright is not.

I quite like Scott Mills on R1 but he’s ATROCIOUS filling in for Ken Bruce. Hopefully when it’s his own show he’ll be a bit more enthusiastic. I loved his drive time show on R1 back in the day.

Years ago at work I used to have to listen to Steve Wright on Radio 1 with all the stupid voices 'ringing in'.. Mr Angry was the worst. It made me anxious. Nowadays it's his sidekick with the weird middle English ? accent who I can't stand. Tim somebody or other.. and don't get me started on the 'false' banter with the traffic commentators and anyone else who chips in - it is nauseating. Just play the music and stop pretending it is all a panto.
