To love a bidet?

one day, I will live in a house that suits me and it will include a bidet in my bathroom.

Hopping into bed with a lovely fresh undercarriage and clean feet also if you want a sluice is bliss.

I love bidets but am I alone? Not fashionable these days are they?

I don’t like bidets but we have always had a ‘Muslim’ shower / bum gun in our bathroom, since we were kids, with warm water.

Under carriage is always refreshed after a wee or poo.

I took out our bidet reluctantly. It’s so useful. But I replaced it with a Japanese bidet toilet which is even better

My DH is European and he's disgusted most people don't use them here! He's a big fan.

mycatisannoying · 29/06/2022 21:39

I'd love to have one! So handy when you're on your period and need a freshen up Blush

BlackAndPinkNose · 29/06/2022 21:41

I would love one. We had one in a rented house and it was so nice to freshen up ~and if you position yourself right it is also very pleasant~

KellynchHall · 29/06/2022 21:42

I have moved house and now I have one and I love it. We plan on renovating the bathroom at some point but the bidet will stay!

KittyCatsby · 29/06/2022 21:44

You need one of those washer dryer loos !
I've only experienced it once , but I told everyone about it for weeks .

dudsville · 29/06/2022 21:45

I love them! I used to suffer from itchiness, it went away completely with the installation of the shower hose thing. And like others, I love the confidence of being clean. Dry wiping after a bowel movement or when on a period is nowhere near as nice. I have a huge supply of cheap cotton washcloths, they're very different to our usual and so never get mixed up. I use a fresh one each time and they get washed weekly. I miss it when i go on holiday!

Very pleasant!! I spent a LOT of time on our bidet as a teenager 🤣🤣 You could have eaten your dinner off my sparkling clean vajajay!!

We have a bum gun.
Game changer.
We did use the teapot (lotus jug) before though but a nice warm wash when you want it is bliss.

upnorthsomewhere · 29/06/2022 21:46

The showers at the toilets that I've only experienced in Dubai (I'm sure other countries have them too) They're amazing! Feel so clean each time after going to the loo. Why aren't these a thing everywhere?

Verbena87 · 29/06/2022 21:48

I’d love one. Post-poo, during period, post-shag when too sleepy for an actual shower but too sticky to sleep - why would you not want one?

Purplehonesty2 · 29/06/2022 21:48

Oooh yes we are installing one in our new house

Bum gun? What is this?? A toilet that also washes you.... how what???

hatchyu · 29/06/2022 21:48

I grew up with bidets, I think they are great! YANBU

Purplehonesty2 · 29/06/2022 21:50

Can anyone recommend one? I need one!!!

hatchyu · 29/06/2022 21:51

I also used to find them really handy for a foot soak/wash which I assume you can't do with a bum gum.

hatchyu · 29/06/2022 21:51

gun!

bellissimiaow · 29/06/2022 21:51

What the wowzers is a bum gun?

TheGraceFace · 29/06/2022 21:56

Noooo! Too much arsing around & I was never quite sure whether to flannel my arse or use the hand. Now the bum gun’s better, but I always end up getting soaked.

Nospringchickendipper · 29/06/2022 21:57

They had a bidet in the hotel that Ive just stayed and it made me really wish I had one at home. It really does make you feel clean.

JustTheOneSwan · 29/06/2022 21:58

Shattaf tap/ Muslim tap it's like a mini shower that sits on the cistern.
You can wash your feet, just over the bog bowl but not soak em. Can wash hair too, ours is beside the sink so I don't even have to bend over.
Can be retro fitted to existing loos in most cases and fairly cheap from Amazon.
With the push fit plumbing used now can even be a diy job.

Howeverdoyouneedme · 29/06/2022 21:59

What do you dry yourself on?
I would consider those Japanese toilets.

bellsbuss · 29/06/2022 22:00

We had one in a house we bought 20 years ago , we did use it but when we ripped out our en suite we didn't replace it

JustTheOneSwan · 29/06/2022 22:01

@TheGraceFace same as sink taps don't turn it on full pelt and it won't splash, think gentle hosepipe not karcher 😁

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 29/06/2022 22:02

I'd love a proper Japanese electric toilet, but for the last year have been using a Happy Po squirty thing.....absolutely brilliant! Can't recommend it enough, just take care to make sure the water's not too cold....can be a bit of a shock otherwise!
